Thanks for stopping by! My name is Shari Franke, a 17 year old teenage girl just trying to get through high school! 😂 Join along for all of my and my family's crazy adventures.
I just turned 18 today.
It is my 18th birthday.
I'm now an adult.
Today I'm going to be filming my birthday haul.
This was a really fun birthday.
Very unique, but I'm excited nonetheless.
So I will show you guys what I got.
Okay, the first thing that I will show you
is all these socks.
I really needed some socks
because I have maybe one pair of matching socks
and they don't go with any of the shoes I have.
I like to not have my socks show with the shoes that I wear.
So that was kind of just being really hard to do.
So mom got me a bunch of socks.
She loves Smartwool socks because first of all,
they're warm and they last for a really long time.
So I got some cute pairs, some little patterns.
And then I got some no-show,
like just neutral colored pairs, which are really nice.
Then I got some longer ones
that I'll wear with like boots and stuff.
These are gonna last for a very long time, all of them.
I haven't gotten new socks since eighth grade.
So it's been way too long.
I have holes in most of my socks.
But you know, when you're in high school
and you're just trying to graduate, nobody really cares.
So this will keep me set for college.
Grandma Griffiths did the cutest gift
I think I've like ever seen.
She embroidered a pillowcase
and it has little hedgehogs on it.
I didn't even know my grandma could embroider.
I knew she could paint
and I knew she was a really good artist,
but I didn't know she could like embroider.
So it's a little boy hedgehog and a little girl hedgehog.
And I'm not ever gonna put this on a pillow
because it's just too precious for that.
I might end up putting it on a pillow.
Actually, I can't decide.
Are you, if you get like a really nice handmade present,
should you wear it out to show your love for it
or should you store it to be able to always remember it?
Eve, bless her kind heart, got me, she didn't get me this.
She gave me this little bracelet that she's had.
It's just nice and costume and very cute.
It's actually really cute.
I just need to have the right outfit for it.
Grandma Frankie sent me a card and $30.
I'm going to Boston tomorrow.
And so I'd love to have just a little bit of cash.
I don't know what I would buy.
Maybe some granola bars or something.
I am always looking for snacks.
When I'm out and about, I'm always buying snacks.
So thank you, Grandma Frankie,
for providing my snacks for a weekend.
My youth group in our ward brought me
over this really cute little notebook.
I feel like every girl just loves notebooks.
Never knows what to do with them, but I love notebooks.
So really good gift idea,
if you guys are wondering for girls.
They also left a sign in my front yard that said honk
because like she's 18 or something.
Luckily we live in a cul-de-sac, so nobody drove by.
I'd hate to annoy my neighbors
by having honking cars all day,
but thank you to my youth group as well
for the kind thought.
This is honestly one of the most favorite
and exciting presents that I got.
I have a buff for school supplies.
I love, love, love school supplies.
And so I got a full box just full of them.
These pens are some of my favorite Paper Mate pens.
I got two packs of those.
I think these are pencils, which is good
because I needed more pencils.
And then I got a bunch of markers and highlighters.
I'm not, I wish I could do calligraphy really well.
I've seen some really cute pictures
of like pretty notes that people take.
But honestly, when I take notes,
I'm just trying to literally get word for word
whatever the teacher says.
And I don't always do it,
but I've gotten pretty good over the years.
So in college, I'll probably be doing all my notes online
or on my computer.
But when I study, I like to write them out.
And so these will help me with my organization
and I'm excited to use these.
I actually have a anatomy, anatomy study.
What do they call them?
I don't know how to call these.
We're supposed to study something
for 30 minutes every week.
In anatomy, it's not very long.
And so I like to rewrite my notes.
And so I'll use those actually tomorrow.
And then I also got these fine tip pens.
Again, don't know if I'll ever use them or how.
Give me some tips on calligraphy, please.
I got these little sticky notes.
I use sticky notes this year way more than I thought I would
or way more than I ever have.
Just having my desk and if I need to write something,
I just have a little stack of sticky notes.
They're very helpful.
And then I haven't had gum in a very long time.
I'm just too lazy to buy it.
So thank you, mom, for all of these.
And little ice breakers.
The next, let's put these all back.
I need to organize this later,
as in right when I'm done filming this video.
The next gift that I got were some kitchen supplies,
which I know you guys all think I'm crazy.
I've been collecting a kitchen for a very long time
and I'll show you when I am done filming this part.
I got a cutting board.
I love wooden cutting boards because they don't make dents.
They don't wear out really that much
and they also look really cute.
So I have my own little cutting board
with a little handle on it.
I don't know why there's a handle on a cutting board,
but it's really cute.
So I'll use that for bread and stuff.
I got this pot, two pots, well, a strainer and a pot
so I can steam rice and chicken
and have just a really cute meal all in this.
So if I need to make dinner for my roommates,
we can do one little meal.
It's very fun.
I also got these cups.
They're like way cute and I probably won't use them
for a while because I don't move out for a while
and I don't know if I'll use them in college,
but you can guarantee they will be in my first apartment
or house that I actually own.
So thank you, mom.
I also got a new candle.
I have been obsessed with candles recently.
I got one for fall that was like a pumpkin spice
and I literally used it in a month.
I loved it.
And so I've been collecting candles ever since.
This is Awaken Cucumber and Green Tea.
It's a very cute little candle.
And then there's also a spray that goes with it.
So you can spray it in bathrooms.
I'll probably keep this in my bathroom for now.
I can always buy a new one when I go to college.
I like things to smell fresh, so I will be using this.
Okay, I'm gonna put together my little kitchen
so I can show you what I have.
Okay, here is my little kitchen.
I have my new pot.
I have a blender I got for Christmas.
I have a toaster that mom bought, but she didn't want it,
so she gave it to me.
Have a waffle iron that I don't know who sent
during Christmas.
I have a little pot.
You can cook bread in this actually,
so I'm excited for that.
Little cast iron skillet, which anything tastes better
in cast iron.
It's a proven fact.
And then a little frying pan.
So I think I've got a, and I got a fridge over there too.
So I think I've got a pretty good start.
I am very excited to move out.
I'm also getting nervous because I'm realizing
I have to start managing money
and I have to do adult things.
Half the adult things sound fun, half of them don't.
I don't know how to do taxes.
I have no idea.
Gonna be straight up.
So we're gonna have to figure that out in the future.
So comment down below advice that you guys have
for somebody that is moving out soon.
I will need all the advice I can get.
Thank you guys all so much for watching
and we'll see you next time.
