Firebox Stove Gas Burner: One-Pot Cooking & Baking Experiments While Camping with Baby Pack Goats
Big epic adventures are great but occasionally an easy get away is exactly what you need!
Sometimes life seems to pile up on your shoulders: stress, anxiety, worry, obligation... It can be overwhelming. I guess that's how I was feeling... I'm not really sure to be honest. I suddenly wanted to go up on the mountain, into nature and stay there for a while. The coming Memorial Day weekend was my perfect excuse. We have a beautiful canyon just across the valley not more than 10 minutes away so I did it: I gathered up my gear and did some grocery shopping. My family had other plans, but since it was so close, they came and visited me a couple of times. Which was very nice. It was the best of both worlds, I got to spend time with them, but taking the family camping can be more work than going to work lol.
I knew it would be good for the baby pack goats to get a feel for camping life. I also thought how good browsing freshly sprouted grass, bushes and trees would be for their health and strength. Ricky is just getting past being somewhat sickly. His coat is becoming shiny, and his growth is catching up to Hector's. For a while there, I thought I might lose him until my vet finally found the treatment that made the difference for him. Thanks, Dr. Fitz!
I also wanted to experiment with one-pot meals and baking in the box pot over a gas flame in the Firebox Nano. I love the concept, but I haven't gotten perfect results yet. My one-pot meals are always a bit crispy on the bottom as are my baking projects. The Nano system is very space efficient, which puts the flame very close making it difficult to temper the heat enough to prevent the bottom from burning. I learned a lot from all my tinkering and now that I'm back home I feel like I have a solution that will work. Stay tuned for my next video when I'm crossing my fingers that I'll have that beautiful golden brown success I've been working towards.
