Sustainable Living in Harmony with Nature
Svatman Farmhouse in Shoolagiri is an inward-looking retreat set within a dense mango orchard, where existing trees choreograph a gradual arrival through shade and partial views. The house follows the natural slope with a sunken living space under a clay filler slab roof, while a light stair on stilts crosses a koi pond to reach the guest suite. A double-height court forms the heart, enabling stack ventilation and framed views. Built with compressed earth blocks, brick, Kota stone, granite quarry waste, and deep Mangalore-tiled roofs, the load-bearing system minimizes concrete and maximizes climatic comfort through passive design.
