The conversation also covers the deep family rift between Brad Pitt and his children, highlighted by his absence from his daughter Zahara's college graduation.
Hey, good morning. Welcome to the TMZ podcast. How's everybody doing?
Kay is here with us.
Hey, happy Tuesday.
Is this your first time in the morning with us?
No. I've done it several times.
Are you sure? No, you've done it in the afternoon, but the morning.
I've done more mornings than afternoons.
Really?
Only if I'd done one afternoon.
Well, then I was not there those days you were doing the morning.
Yes, you have. We've done a morning together.
No, there's no way.
I will. Someone fact check that, please.
Well, welcome, Kay. So great to have you here. Always love having you.
Kay is one of the funnest, nicest people in the office.
Oh, wow.
Whenever you walk by, she's she's a beam of light.
So, wow.
Great to have her on here.
Thank you. I appreciate it. I wish I could say the same.
I'm just kidding.
Because she said that. She didn't hear me.
But earlier I made a joke.
You said, one day I'll get married.
And I said, I doubt it.
I doubt it, too.
I probably doubt it, too.
No, no, we'll both get married and have, you know, good lives.
Yes. So speaking of marriage.
OK, let's talk about it.
Let's talk about it.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey are tying the knot very soon,
which means you got to think of some things.
You got to think of the the prenuptial agreement,
whether or not you're going to go for it and where more support.
Most importantly, where are you going to draft it out of?
Yes, they have a few options.
Rhode Island, Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee, New York and California.
As you know, Travis just bought a house in Missouri or in Kansas,
but he plays in Missouri.
But I thought that the Kansas City Chiefs now have moved
onto the side of Casey.
That's in Kansas instead of Missouri.
But anyway, that's more sports.
I can't tell you because I don't think about moving a stadium like the stadium.
OK, I thought they already thought that they already did it.
I might be wrong.
Not Tony. Well, expert on this stuff.
So I'm sure he has properties in both Kansas and Missouri.
So, you know, makes sense that they're deciding those.
You know, Taylor Swift has some roots down in Tennessee.
And of course, you know, they probably all spend time out here in California.
Rhode Island in New York.
I got a house in Rhode Island.
OK, Rhode Island is there.
It is, by the way, it's one hundred and twenty five million dollars.
And she paid where and where in Rhode Island can you get a house for?
I believe that might be the ocean.
It's near the ocean.
It's like on a hill.
I wouldn't pay more than one million for a house in Rhode Island.
Rhode Island's, you know, the smallest state that we have.
Yeah. In our country.
Well, bottom line, to be honest with you, I and everybody else is
mostly shocked that a prenup is even in discussion.
You know what? I'm shocked, too.
You have two millionaires.
I guess her net worth is two billion.
So this is 90 million. Yes.
So maybe she's a little bit more richer.
But I'm I'm I'm very surprised as well.
What are your thoughts on it?
So I think in and I was thinking about this this morning
when I was recording the TMZ minute, which is our radio minute of stories.
OK. And I was thinking, I bet you, you know, all of us.
And I want to say commoners, but all of us commoners.
We're like, oh, like prenups.
Like, there's no way that like it's something that comes up in a relationship
where someone loves each other, that truly loves each other.
Prenups, no way.
But in this world, I believe that celebrities,
they they know no matter what relationship I get in,
no matter what marriage I jump into.
Yes. A prenup is going to be something that has to happen regardless.
I don't think that it really matters to them.
No. And you know what?
Some people do look like marriage is a business deal.
You know, people at that level and height, you know, I get it.
You know, they want to make sure their assets are protected
because anything can happen.
And that's where, you know, broke people.
And I'm just playing.
But that's where other people are like, oh, prenups are so like you're
you're preparing for a breakup.
You're preparing for something to go wrong.
You're having something in place
when you shouldn't go into the marriage thinking like that.
I understand that point of view.
But if you're really forward thinking and you're kind of thinking like,
you know what? Life happens.
People change 30 years down the line.
We might both not see each other like that.
Let me just make sure I have what I came in with protected.
And you have what you came in with protected as well.
Going into a marriage without a prenup at this level
is like going into a marriage
is like basically having no savings your entire life.
So people have savings accounts, right? OK.
We all say they all say, put money away, put money away,
put money away for that rainy day.
And you say, well, my car's doing great.
My house is great.
I don't need to make any repairs.
It doesn't mean you don't stack money away. Right.
In case when it does happen, doesn't mean you're
doesn't mean you're planning on it happening. Right.
But it does happen. Right.
These things happen.
Celebrities know more than anybody when this happens.
Most notably, you know who I'm going to say?
Who? Kim Kardashian?
No. Who? Jennifer Lopez.
Oh, Ben Affleck, who did not have a prenup.
But and then he gave her that house and she'd unsold it.
And she's so smart.
I wait, wait, wait.
Did the house actually sell or she's selling it?
She's selling it, but it's going to sell.
But he gave her that half.
Didn't ask for nothing back.
And at the return, nothing, nothing but a handshake,
I guess you can call it. And she's so smart.
She's like, great, thanks.
Give me my extra money on the side.
And that's what I call smart.
But to be honest with you,
they are a great example.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were a couple who honestly
made it out pretty good without a prenup.
When you look at, for example, Kevin Costner last two years,
Kevin Costner and I forgot his wife, his ex-wife's name.
But it was a mess because there was a prenup in place,
but she still challenged the prenup not being enough money.
Rightfully so, as she should have been.
No, no.
Sometimes it's just like, I get it.
You what you came in with, you should leave with.
But if there's like during the marriage,
if you make a quintillion dollars and I was your wife through it all
and I'm up at night with you and I'm cooking you dinner
and cleaning your clothes and X, Y, Z, X, Y, Z.
I don't know their situation,
but I'm basically supporting you in other ways,
maybe not contributing exactly to your businesses,
but I'm supporting you in other ways.
I should get a little chunk of the change.
Yeah. If not more.
I mean, not not not half.
Can we be honest here?
Why not half? No.
They let me give you an example here.
So I heard this from someone who has a lot of money.
OK, so you spend your whole life building a business.
You make millions of dollars.
You finally you build that business.
You make sacrifices. You get to the top. OK.
And she was what? She was hot.
She gets half. She was hot.
Now she gets half of what you built.
And you know what? What you built.
And you know what I say to that?
Well, you know, it actually is not safe for work.
It is a law system.
No, it's a man being a man and not thinking what is mine
and thinking what other parts of his body.
And you are the dummy who married a hot chick because she was hot.
And now she didn't think she was smart enough to to fool you
because she don't use her looks, her advantage.
Let's be honest.
And so you were the dummy.
And now you can't fool.
Now you mad. And now you don't want to give up no money.
No, that's why I'm like, Judge, let him learn his lesson.
Yeah, I get it.
But at the end of the day, you got to start thinking.
Green green ups are very there.
There's some gorgeous women out here just robbing dudes.
And it's because they're using their looks to their advantage.
And that's why you see these NBA players, these NFL players
that get these hot chicks and they get babies and they get married and whatever.
And then they get robbed in the end.
And they're like, oh, because they weren't smart in the beginning.
They were blinded by the looks.
And I'm not saying that you what you guys are doing is wrong.
Hey, not you guys play the system.
No, no, no. About women. OK.
I'm saying I'm not saying that's wrong.
Play the system, you know, play the game.
Whoever loses, loses here.
And you know what? I should be doing that.
But I'm being honest.
You know, well, there are a couple of celebrities
I've had come in that I've tried to set up with.
And she and she didn't really, you know, you were like, well, next.
They weren't cute enough to me.
See, I got to be I got to be attracted back.
I was giving I was giving you a freebie.
You guys have money.
And you're right. Next time.
Let's let's do it. Let's take it.
But back to Taylor and Travis.
So apparently Rhode Island is considered yet
the strongest overall fit for Taylor's wealth level.
New York's being the weakest.
Tennessee favorable for wealthy entertainers.
I believe that the riskiest.
Yeah. New York.
New York is the riskiest place for a prenup to be drafted
because there's closely
they closely scrutinize prenups that judges do
and sometimes invalidate them.
So pick the state.
New York got real people in there and they understand like now.
I love this for them.
Like like what two smart people here in and props to Taylor to the business.
She she's very business or she's very business oriented.
Yeah. Because at any point, she's a smart girl.
By the way, marriage, it's from marriage on
is the money you make from the marriage on.
Yeah, that's the prenup.
That's there's sometimes little areas where you can.
You know, I mean, you can go backwards a little bit.
You can get in and get, you know, and maybe like
if there was a business set up in the marriage and that business
is projected to do well for the next 20 years
after the marriage is being, you know, divorce is happening.
Maybe you can still get that little, you know, you can get some equity
or whatever. I don't know.
Yeah. All right.
Well, moving on, I'd love to talk prenups with you for the rest of the day.
I wouldn't, you know.
And when you do get your first prenup, come to me.
I'm a call you. Yeah.
Actually, you know, you're going to shoot the wedding.
So you're going to be there.
Yeah. I might film the wedding.
Shoot. OK.
Film the wedding.
Choice of words, man.
I meant he's going to film the wedding.
We were just talking before we put cameras up that he films.
Well, actually, if you are so as good as you say, there won't be a prenup.
The love will blind him.
No, my my mind is going to be set myself up.
Yeah. All right.
Well, moving on to Brad Pitt, he is under fire.
As we know, his is his daughter.
Can we say daughter?
So so so just so you know, Angelina Jolie adopted Zahara.
Zahara Zahara.
I would say Zahara Zahara.
I'm sorry.
That's what I said this morning, actually, to Zahara
was adopted when she was seven months old by Jolie before the marriage.
Yeah. Correct about that.
I want to make sure I'm correct.
So Angela Angelina Jolie adopted Zahara when she was seven months.
And then later on, when she married Brad Pitt, he
legally adopted her and another child that was adopted by Angelina Jolie.
Right. And of course, you know, they went on and had their own.
But yes, so he has been a little bit playing deadbeat these days.
And I get it.
Estrangement relationships happen, but he did not show up in so much
so that he went on to not even contact the family to show up
to Zahara's college graduation.
She just graduated from Spelman College.
Congratulations to her.
She is Atlanta, right?
Atlanta. She is.
She just crossed, a.k.a.
the sorority I'm in as well.
Oh, wow. Yes.
So she just crossed a.k.a.
not too long ago, and we saw Angelina Jolie at that ceremony,
as well as Giselle Bryant from Real Housewives of Potomac
with her daughter crossing in the same line.
But Brad Pitt was MIA and he did not show up.
And our sources tell us that he didn't even give a call, text
or email or mail away to get any tickets to this graduation ceremony,
which sucks before or after, before or after.
And and supposedly, you know, she she recently dropped the Pitt name
from her name.
Now she just goes by Zahara Marley Jolie.
Not just her. The other two.
So, yes, the other two as well, which is Shiloh drop Pitt.
Vivian also.
Yes, Vivian. Yeah.
So there's some there's some something going on.
They call it, you know, he's estranged from them.
But, you know, it makes it makes me
it hurts my heart because I've gone through the same thing
where when your parents can't get along and they don't see eye to eye.
So one chooses not to show up.
And the only person that suffers is the child.
It's sad. Yeah, really sad.
I mean, like, think about it.
Like, I'm looking back at my graduation and imagine like my dad not showing up.
Yeah. You know, and this this really like they had estranged them before.
But this really puts the nail in the coffin here.
And there is a source who gave a quote about this saying Zahara's mom
and siblings have been involved over the four year special years
were present and cheering her and her Spelman sisters on.
Nothing prevented him from showing up for her or even or ever visiting her.
The day was all about her accomplishments, not whether he was willing to attend.
And also they say that he believed outreach would be, quote, unwelcome
due to ongoing hostility tied to Angelina Jolie.
You know why? I have two thoughts on this one.
I think, yes, it's sad because no one suffers but the child.
So having to now that I'm adult, having two grown adults
who can't get it together is quite sad because you're only
hindering the success and love of the child.
But to now that I am an adult and Zahara is very much an adult,
she's graduating from college, not high school.
She's an adult.
So, yes, I kind of get Brad on one side.
He's just like, you know what?
If they're not talking to me, you know, and they don't want to accept,
you know, me reaching out or, you know, he didn't reach out in this instance.
But who says he hasn't reached out recently in the past about anything else?
But if they're kind of like, we don't mess with you, then I get it.
It's like I wouldn't be welcome there.
I would go and maybe they wouldn't even speak to me.
And that would be a whole moment
because it's not like they're just regular people.
People would see that.
And, you know, it would become a story. It would.
So I get. Yeah.
So I get that half.
And hopefully he just does things on the side.
Maybe hopefully we don't know yet, but hopefully he reached out
and sent her a graduation gift, hopefully some money.
But, you know, I didn't get to walk for college graduation.
I graduated in May 2020, but I can only imagine the money I was going to get.
But, you know, it's two sides of it.
The parents need to be grown and reconcile some type of way
for the betterment of the children.
But on the other half, the children are grown now.
And if he wanted to come, it has nothing to do with Angelina Jolie.
He didn't even have to speak to her.
He could have reached out to Zahara himself and made it made sure
that he was present some way, somehow for her.
Well, this makes me just think that something really, really went wrong
over the years.
There's a lot we definitely don't know about.
Yeah, I know that the most notable
situation that was spoken about in this whole
estrangement was the do you remember this?
The plane trip where he allegedly was abusive on the plane.
I have no idea about these two.
And he was in and nothing.
No charges were brought or anything.
No, I don't.
That's been the long.
That's been a longtime story about what went wrong
and that looking back and hearing that story, that nothing was proven
and nothing was unproven. Does that make sense? OK.
And now seeing the kids who were on the flight that time,
now dropping his name and we don't know what else happened.
If that happened on a plane where there were public people like pilots on there,
then potentially there were other times all the way up to 2016.
And that's a tough situation, you know, and he does have to be the better person.
But maybe he thought that right now it's just not the time to do that.
And again, like you said, you made a really good point
that if he shows up, it becomes a huge spotlight on him.
Yeah. Being at this event.
And like I said, we're not too in the know, so we can only go off
what we know, what sources are telling us.
Who knows what happens behind closed doors.
So until then, until like the truth comes to light, you can only,
you know, give so much of the benefit of the doubt.
Sweet. All right.
Well, we were going to have one more story, but we're out of time.
We had a lot to talk about today.
We do have comments, though.
So on the swift, swift Kelsey prenup, Miss Chiefs fan.
Oh, OK. This is going to buy their quote.
Prenup is nobody's business.
Leave them alone. You leave them alone.
I get it. I get it.
I know. But like we're TMZ and you're watching TMZ.
What do you expect?
Justin Harris.
Everything Taylor Swift does looks like it must be a business deal
just because she is so successful.
I'd say 25 percent, but not half.
Yeah, she's a very smart girl.
Very smart girl.
Even 25 percent. Two million.
She knows what she can do.
And she's like, OK, this little football player is going to.
Anything can happen. He's a liability.
I'm not going to lie.
St. Elmo's fire. They aren't doing a prenup.
She is way richer than him.
No, no, no, no. That's the whole point.
She is richer than me.
Brad Pitt on that story.
Danny said for the swift Kelsey pre.
Oh, wait, I'm sorry.
This is this about.
Oh, this is a double comment here.
OK, Danny says for the swift Kelsey prenup preach K.
All right now, Danny.
And then, bro, Brad, grow up, Brad.
I agree. Like it doesn't matter what's happened.
You need to like be the better person.
Yeah. Come on, Brad, bro.
Attend your daughter's graduation, man.
Yeah, that is what that was.
Or at least enter a couple of thousand.
Yes. Or a car.
That's all I'm saying.
All right. Thanks, everybody. Thank you, Kay.
All right, y'all. Have a good day, Branson.
Yeah, we'll see you back here in the afternoon, everybody.
Thank you so much. Yeah.
