The mazurka is a Polish folk dance in 3/4 time. The first "composed" examples date back to the mid-18th century. It became a symbol of Polish patriotism, expressing the indomitable Polish spirit.

Chopin's mazurkas are "not meant to be danced", as he himself declared. These highly artistic, harmonically complex miniatures express deeper human emotions such as joy and exultation, as well as melancholy and despair. Chopin wrote them throughout his lifetime, from his early sketches to his more sophisticated later works.

The video was filmed in the garden of our daughter by Christian Schlegel in Switzerland and was edited by Wenjing Ma.
