Crested Kingfisher - Life On The Kuril Islands

Crested Kingfisher (Megaceryle lugubris) - voice, nesting life, fishing, fight with common kingfisher.
On Kunashir, it is sedentary, although in winter some of the birds leave the South Kuril Islands and migrate to Hokkaido.
About 20 pairs nest on Kunashir. Inhabits fast-flowing mountain rivers: Tyatina, Saratov, creek. Perevalny, Bird, Filatova, Ilyushina, Andreevka. Breeds on the lake. Sandy.
