We built a Natural Swimming Pool from Start to Finish | Full Construction Process
Today, we'd like to show you the complete construction timelapse process of building our Natural Swimming Pool (NSP)! It was a long and very difficult project, but we couldn't be happier with the result! If you are interested in this project in more detail, check out our Natural Swimming Pool Playlist!

Three trees fell down and went boom.
So that's three out of 13 in the island that have got to come down.
More trees back there.
And that big one right there.
I don't know how I'm going to get that big one down.
But I will.
I got this whole dog.
Get that thing from out of the ground.
Oh yeah.
Broke branches.
Oh yeah.
So it kind of looks like a hurricane hit here.
But this is all part of clearing the island in front of the house.
There was 15 pine trees.
So what do you think?
We're getting there, huh?
We're getting there.
15 pine trees.
Natural pond.
Yeah, we're getting there.
Half a day.
We're down nine feet now.
The sides are all pretty close.
I think I've taken 12 truckloads out.
So now I'm working my way back up to here.
I will start digging it up gradually from there to here.
So
probably about here.
This is the sub liner.
So this goes down to protect against rocks for the liner.
The pump goes right there.
Gotta dig that out right there.
That goes in the liner.
That passes through the pipe.
That's the suction from all of those.
Kind of dark, I know.
But all that four inch perforated pipe all the way around.
So we're getting there.
So we have dug the ditch for the waterfall pipe.
Waterfall pipe goes up and around and over to where the waterfall is going to be.
We dug out the berm and then we dug a hole right through to the back of the liner.
That piece right there goes in the liner.
The pump will sit right down there on gravel on a couple of 2x10s.
Cut the lumber.
Build the box.
Get the pump in.
Waterfall outlet.
The big pipe is the suction for the biofilter.
So there's the biofilter going through the liner.
That three inch line there.
That's coming from that 300 feet of pipe.
And that inch and a half line goes down around and comes out right there.
And that'll shoot like a jet.
That'll clean the bottom of the pool.
And we are filling.
So we're pumping water down from the lake through that pipe right there.
Came out of the irrigation we put in last year.
Let's see.
When we get to that wall, we will be seven feet deep at the deepest.
Wow.
When we get to the top of the wall.
Yep.
Waiting for it to hit the skimmer down there.
When we hit the skimmer, we'll start pulling the stuff off of the top here.
We're getting a little rain.
You can see the sprinkles.
It'll also be interesting to see how far the water goes up the beach here.
Well, we're finally back and it's summertime, which is super nice.
Dad's over there working by the fire.
He said he'd be back in just a moment now.
Oh, there he's coming now.
And so it's been really fun.
So what's happening?
It's time for a video.
Oh, the woods are on fire over there.
The woods are on fire over there.
And Moe's barking.
Barking.
Get it, Moe.
Look at the pool.
Doesn't it look nice?
I think the last time I checked the temperature is that it was 75.
75?
Yep.
75 is like...
Moe!
Doable, I think.
So I guess...
Does anybody mind if I go swimming in my underwear?
You can go swimming in your underwear.
Well, can we put it on a video?
I don't know.
You just ripped your shirt.
You just ripped the whole thing.
I'm excited.
Big strong man.
Look at that.
We might have to put sand in here.
Yeah.
Ow, ow, ow, ow.
I can't be showed off by an old man.
Moe!
Moe, are you showing off?
Moe, Moe, Moe, come on.
Come on, let's go, Moe.
Come on, Moe.
Cannonball!
Put that thing straight up.
He's a big old fat one.
Moe, Moe, here.
Come.
Pretty good.
Oh, that's not a cannonball.
Watch me drink from the hose.
Let's see.
Okay, here's the inside wall right here.
Let's see how...
I can see the other wall,
but we'll show you how far it takes,
how far it is.
Home dig.
Yeah, it's huge.
Yeah, remember how long?
Seaboat.
Forever ago.
Digging and digging and digging.
Scraping and scraping and digging and digging.
I think it's a hose.
Moe, here.
Come here, Moe.
Come on, Moe.
Moe, Moe, Moe, here.
Moe, Moe, Moe, Moe, Moe, Moe, Moe, Moe.
Come on.
Moe, Moe, get your ball.
