The 10th Tokyo Japan–Taiwan Friendship Concert Concludes Successfully, Showcasing Strong Cultural Ties
The 10th Tokyo Japan–Taiwan Friendship Concert was grandly held on the evening of April 27, 2026, at the ACT Center in Itabashi City, Tokyo. The event was jointly organized by the Tokyo Japan–Taiwan Exchange Association and the Tokyo Hakka Chongzheng Association, with co-organization support from the Japan Chapter of the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women, Awa Dance Taiwan Union Japan Headquarters, and the Japan Hakka Economic and Cultural Research Institute. The concert highlighted the enduring friendship and vibrant cultural exchange between Taiwan and Japan.
The Taiwan delegation was led by Mr. Lu Hsiao-chih, Secretary-General of the Taiwan International Cultural Association, and included 60 performers from the Taoyuan-based Zhen Sapi Cultural Association (Saxophone Ensemble) and the Taoyuan Choir of Joy

. The delegation was co-sponsored by the Overseas Community Affairs Council, the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Taoyuan City Government, and the Taoyuan Hakka Affairs Bureau. Representing Japan, the Tokyo Amadillo Mixed Choir also delivered an outstanding performance.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Mr. Masaji Takahashi, former Chairman of the Japan Exchange Association, who recently celebrated his 88th birthday; Ms. Shimizu An-hui, President of the Tokyo Hakka Chongzheng Association; former presidents Mr. Sonoda Katsunori and Ms. Sugiyama Juri; Overseas Community Affairs Council member Ms. Lin Yueh-li; Ms. Hsiao Li-li, President of the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women; Ms. Lin Hsin-chi, President of the Awa Dance Taiwan Union; and Mr. Chen Mu-chuan, former president of the compatriots’ association, among others.
The performances by all three groups were exceptional. The Zhen Sapi Cultural Association presented the “Hakka Suite” and classic Taiwanese pieces such as “April Rain,” composed by Teng Yu-hsien, widely regarded as the “Father of Taiwanese Folk Songs.” The Taoyuan Zhiyin Choir performed beloved songs including “Have You Eaten Yet?” and “Mother’s Garland.” The Tokyo Amadillo Mixed Choir performed Japanese songs such as “Shonen Jidai” and “Wishing Upon the Stars,” and also impressed the audience with a Chinese rendition of “Jasmine Flower.” The grand finale featured a joint performance by the Taiwanese and Japanese choirs of the Taiwanese song “Bang Chhun-hong (Spring Breeze)” and the Japanese classic “Kita no Kuni Kara (North Country Spring),” bringing the audience to prolonged applause.
The event was meticulously organized and attracted approximately 400 attendees from both Taiwan and Japan. Prior to the concert, a welcome reception was held in the VIP lounge of the ACT Center, offering a warm and lively setting for interaction among performers and guests. A particularly touching moment came when Japanese guests and the Taiwanese delegation leader waved Republic of China flags and warmly embraced, symbolizing deep friendship and mutual respect.
The event concluded with great success. It stands as one of the most vibrant and heartwarming Taiwan–Japan cultural exchanges in recent years, further strengthening bilateral friendship and marking a new milestone in Taiwan–Japan relations.
