Hello.
Are you a rock chick?
Well, I'm rocking something. I'm not quite sure what.
A retired entertainer who's on the lookout for love's young dream.
I think I might fall off these shoes, but apart from that, I'll be fine.
I'm 62 years of age. Technically, I should have a cat on me lap,
I should have a knitted needle in my hand
and I should be wearing a twin set of pearls.
Well, I've got as far as the pearls.
Enjoy.
Hello, how are you doing? Can I get you a drink?
I would love a Bloody Mary.
Right, you are.
I feel like I'm being spoilt already.
I'm used to a pint of lager and Blackpool seafood.
This is amazing.
How are these things in Blackpool these days, then?
How are they?
Yes.
Windy.
Windy, yeah, I can imagine, yeah.
I came up from London, actually, when I was about ten.
It's quite a story, mine.
Go on, then, tell me.
I left home at 16.
Right.
Lied about my age and went to work as a butlin's redcoat.
Oh, cool.
In the 70s.
And I had the time of my life.
It's the most incredible thing ever.
You know, and in between that, I did the army.
In between that, I was, like, a knife-throws assistant
working in strip clubs in Germany.
You know, it wasn't...
I wasn't exactly going to make the boy next door
and, when I was 18, get engaged.
It was never going to happen.
I've never married.
And I've never lived with anybody.
Oh.
I can't wait to live my day,
but it's been that long since I've been on a date.
Let's put it this way, it can't have been that memorable
cos I don't remember it.
All my life, I've lived without love.
But now, do I want to go to bed at night,
stand in a bathroom next to a partner
and put toothpaste on his brush?
Yes, I do.
I don't just want companionship.
You don't?
No, I want it all.
You want it all?
I want somebody to make amazing memories.
And just see that twinkle in the eye.
And think, do you know what, I could have fun with you.
Here to answer Tracy's call
is 62-year-old builder Shane.
When I'm out, I like to get dressed up.
Like Rod Stewart, I love the way he dresses
with the shirts and the suits and the waistcoats.
Hello, how are you?
Hi.
And I just love all that light.
You're looking amazing.
Well, I put in a good effort in.
And I know the girls like it as well.
Where are you from?
Liverpool, just on the tip of it.
There's no local girls there?
Not at the moment, no.
No?
No.
I've spent my life at work,
so I'm always in the circles of fellas.
I've had to re-educate myself
and learn how to take the girls out all over again.
Come with me.
It'd just be so nice to be with a girl
who's a little bit outrageous.
I'll know that girl when I see her.
Hello.
Oh, hi, love.
Hi.
Tracy.
Hi.
What's your name?
Shane.
Oh, pleased to meet you, Shane.
This is a bit exciting, isn't it?
Yeah, yeah.
Hello, sir, how are you?
Not too bad, not too bad.
Good, what can I get you?
A gin and tonic would be nice, please.
Thank you.
Tell me about yourself.
I'm 62 years of age.
Same as me.
But I'm still feeling like 20.
I've been divorced a good few years, too long.
What, are you going to say a good few times, then?
Oh, no, no, no.
So do you get out much yourself?
Do you go dating and all that sort?
No.
I haven't been on a date for over 20 years.
Well, that's so lovely of you, really.
You know what I mean, to say you'd meet me?
That is, that's really lovely.
So what's the sort of thing, then, that you're really into?
I just like having fun.
That's cool, that's cool.
So I'm quirky, I'm spontaneous.
I love going to shows.
Do you like the theatre?
Yeah, I love the theatre.
I'm from a theatrical background.
Yeah.
So in the 70s, I was a butt in a red coat for six years.
Oh, that's the best job in the world.
It was amazing.
I like to make people smile.
I'm a people person, you know,
and I think that's because of my red coat.
That's something I've always looked for, the smile.
You're three parts there, aren't you?
Yeah.
