Humanity's Future and Reaching for the Stars | Jeff Greason
In this thought-provoking conversation, aerospace pioneer Jeff Greason explores the deeper reality behind humanity’s future in space -- where energy, distance from the Sun, and infrastructure define what’s possible.
From the challenges of building civilizations in the outer solar system to the long-term vision of expanding beyond our own star, Jeff breaks down why space settlement isn’t about a single leap — it’s about continuous progress.
He explains how every civilization depends on energy, and why places like Titan, while fascinating, present massive challenges for sustaining life.
The discussion also touches on a powerful idea: humanity’s future lies in always having a “next place to go.” Expansion, experimentation, and new civilizations are part of what defines us as a species.
And perhaps most exciting — this future may be closer than we think. The possibility of looking up and seeing lights from a human civilization on the Moon could happen within our lifetime… if we choose to push forward.
This is a conversation about momentum, risk, and the critical moment we’re in right now — where we’re closer than ever to becoming a spacefaring civilization, but still capable of missing the opportunity.
Jeff Greason is one of the few people who have been active since the inception of the new Space era in the mid 1990's. He got his start in aerospace at Rotary Rocket, was a founder at XCOR Aerospace, helped create policy needed for commercial space to flourish, and is actively working on next generation propulsion tech to open up our solar system.
Jeff has dedicated his life to enabling our journey off world, and his passion shows.
