So what fashion trends are taking over this summer? Well, in today’s video, I’m talking about exactly that.
You’ve probably seen a lot of these trends already in recent years, but they are starting to dominate more and more now, and there are some good trends in here and some I’m not sold on, but let’s get right into it.
So what's going to be trending this summer? Well in today's video I'm talking about exactly that
and you've probably seen a lot of these trends over recent years but they're starting to dominate
more and more and there's some good ones in here and some not so good ones but let's get right into
it. So the first trend I want to talk about is slim ribbed t-shirts. Now these were absolutely
everywhere last summer and they're going to be everywhere this summer too especially the ones
and honestly I'm not sure how to feel about these. Sometimes I kind of like the look of them but I do
feel that they make everyone look the same when they wear them. They're also a little bit too
clean cut for me at the moment but if I had one I'd probably wear it to show off all my gym gains
and just in case some of you think that I think that I'm really big, I don't. I'm huge and these
t-shirts also come in Henley versions as well and Henley's seem to be everyone's favourite thing
right now so these are going to be everywhere this summer too I'm sure of it. Next up we've got
the Ralph tuck. Now the Ralph tuck has been doing the rounds on social media and people are absolutely
loving it and if you don't know what the Ralph tuck is, it's basically when you button up the
bottom of your shirt and tuck it in so you have this open shirt effect like you can see here and
the tuck is named after Ralph Lauren. You probably guessed it already anyway but he was the one who
made it famous basically and not only does it add some visual interest to your outfit but it can also
help with the proportions of your outfit too. It can help to visually shorten your torso and make
your legs look longer and it gives off a relaxed but intentional look and I'm sorry to sound like
a hater, I don't actually hate it but it's not for me. It just gives off too much of a preppy look
for my liking but the preppy look is still very much on trend at the moment so it makes sense
Okay it's summer, we've got to talk about shorts. What are people going to be wearing? And from what
I'm seeing out there, there seems to be a bit of a split at the moment. A lot of people who are into
longer jorts are starting to move away from them and they're going for longer tailored shorts
instead. Of course we're still going to see plenty of longer jorts this summer but people aren't
loving them as much as they were last summer. There's also been a bit of a shift towards capri
pants recently but not the tight ones you're probably thinking of, more modern versions. At
the same time, if you were wearing shorter shorts last summer, the shorts are getting a little bit
shorter and you're probably going to be spending a lot of your time in shorter sport shorts. Ever
since people saw Paul Maskell crossing roads in his pairs a couple of years ago, they've been
getting a lot of traction online and I'm a big fan of this style myself. Sport shorts are usually
inexpensive, they're comfortable, they keep you cool and they're easy to wear casually so what's
not to like? I must admit I don't really like them with loafers though and a lot of people wear them
with loafers. I prefer them with sneakers but each to their own. But yeah, there definitely seems to
be two camps when it comes to shorts, the longer short lovers and the shorter short lovers and
which camp are you in? When it comes to pants or trousers, we're still heavily in the relaxed pleated
pants or trousers era at the moment so nothing new there. People will be wearing their COS t-shirts
that we talked about earlier with a pair of relaxed pleated trousers and this is a look that
we're all used to seeing by now. The whole slim t-shirt with relaxed pleated trousers is kind of
like the default Instagram uniform at the moment and if you like getting likes on Instagram, just
put this outfit on and it's going to get you a lot of likes. I hate getting likes so that's why I don't
wear it on Instagram but definitely don't like this video or subscribe to this
channel. Definitely don't go down there and do that right now. Please do it. The next one again is
nothing new. We see it every summer at this point but it's vertical stripes. They were everywhere
last summer. They're going to be everywhere this summer too and it's not really a surprise. They
scream summer to me and they're breathable and they're lightweight and they're going to be
comfortable to wear so it makes sense. They're also extremely versatile so you can wear them
with shorts and you can wear them with pants. You can dress them up, you can dress them down
so they're useful to have. Again, a lot of them are a little bit too clean cut for my liking for
casual wear but if you like this style of shirt, you really can't go wrong with them. But as well
as stripes, brands have been really pushing checks a lot and a lot of people are wearing checks
and also floral prints and shirts with a lot of texture too. Texture is a great way to add more
detail to a summer outfit when layering is out the question and brands know that people are paying
attention more to texture on clothing so they're putting a lot more out there. The next trend is
one that a lot of people hate and it's sleepwear. People wearing sleepwear outside the house has
been on the rise over the past few years and it is becoming more normalised in the same way that
it happened with sweatpants. Sweatpants used to be frowned upon to wear outside the house
and now they're just normal and the same thing's happening here and logically this one does make
sense whether you like it or not because pyjamas are often colourful, they're lightweight so they're
going to be perfect for the summer but they can come across as lazy and sloppy and to be honest
with a lot of summer clothing these days, I can't always tell what's sleepwear or not so what's the
difference anyway? But even though this trend does make sense to me, it's not one that I'm going to
be taking part in myself. It's way too colourful for me and it's not my style so my pyjamas are
strictly for the bedroom. But yeah even though this is more of a micro trend at the moment, I can
only see this becoming more and more normalised as the years go on and I do think it's going to become
a permanent thing in fashion every summer in the future. The next trend is handbags. Now you've
probably seen photos of people carrying their bags like this and it looks like the most impractical
way to carry a bag doesn't it? I don't think they're actually carrying around their bags like
this though. I do think it's purely for the gram just to make it look good for a photo but anyway
men using leather handbags is definitely on the rise right now even though it is still a micro
trend at the moment and people have been adding charms to their bags to give them more personality
and I do think it's a great way to add some more detail to your summer outfits and a few years ago
this one would have looked out of place for a lot of people and to be honest it still looks out of
place for a lot of people today but it is becoming more accepted. The line between men's and women's
fashion is becoming more and more blurred as the years go on and I think that's a really good thing.
Clothing doesn't have a gender and people should just wear whatever they want and saying that I
don't want to wear one of these bags because I don't find them as comfortable as something like
a crossbody bag so I won't be wearing these but I get why people love them and I'm all for this
Okay so we've got to talk about footwear and the trends in the footwear department are very clear
right now and the first thing I want to talk about is vans. Now I know van sneakers are always popular
they're absolute classics but classics can still trend and vans are definitely trending right now.
People seem to be absolutely loving their new premium models that they've been putting out
and the same people that used to call vans boring are now lapping them up. I don't think I've ever
seen a pair of vans cost a hundred pounds, not vans on their own anyway, maybe a collaboration
pair but when the demand is there they can whack up the prices and the demand is definitely there.
But I'm a massive fan of vans, I've been wearing them non-stop since I was about 10 years old so
I'll be wearing them this summer regardless of what the trends are doing. On the smarter end of
the footwear scale these crinkle loafers are all the rage right now and I do like a lot of pairs
of these, not all of them but quite a few pairs. The YSL pair for example are absolutely beautiful
and if they weren't over 800 pounds I might get myself a pair but it's not happening. But luckily
a lot of brands are putting out more affordable versions of these at the moment so there's loads
to choose from and I'll leave some of my favourites linked in the description box if you want to check
them out. Also we've got a bit of a new kid on the block this summer and it's these lace-up slim
shoe kind of things. I've been seeing these popping up everywhere online recently and they're kind of
like a lace-up ballet flat. In my opinion this is 100% more of an online trend and I definitely
can't see people wearing these where I live but brands and fashion magazines are really pushing
them right now. And sticking with the slim theme, slim sneakers are also going to be all the rage
this summer, they were last year, they will be this summer too. And I've also been noticing a rise of
the slim sneakers with the elasticated backs on them so expect to see a lot more of those this
summer too. But I'm a big fan of slim sneakers, I've always preferred them over chunkier models
and yeah it's good that there's so many options out there right now. And also whether you like
them or not, flip-flops are here to stay this summer. And I know flip-flops are an absolute
staple in a lot of countries but here in the UK they're definitely a trend at the moment. People
are wearing them with shorts of course but they're also wearing them with jeans, with pleated trousers
and their COS t-shirts that we talked about earlier and they're wearing them with everything.
And I do think flip-flops can be very practical but from a style standpoint I think there's far
better options out there. But you do you. So yeah take what works for you and leave the rest, you
don't have to buy into trends if you don't want to, to get a stylish look. There's plenty of other
things out there that you can wear and look great in. Please let me know if I've forgotten anything
