Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Shaw Classic East versus West 19 and the
strongest arm on earth. This is the core main event of the evening ladies and
gentlemen and we are gonna meet our athletes right now starting with this
man he hails from and is representing Las Vegas Nevada USA. Please give a round
of applause and welcome him he is Filthy Power Brandon Allen. Filthy Power Brandon
Allen waits at the table for the introduction of this towering strong
man. He needs no introduction anywhere in the world of strength sport as a
all-time world's strongest man and former strongest man on earth. Ladies and
gentlemen rip the roof off for the strength legend from Colorado he is the
Colorado Colossus Brian Shaw!
Stage Ray and the matchup anything grab your eyes here from these numbers.
Yeah Brian beats Brandon almost everywhere yeah he's most everywhere
everywhere yeah everywhere he's very impressive human but Brandon Allen has
been known in armwrestling world as the hype killer but let's see what happens
if you stand on the tracks and the train is coming. Here we go in the best of five
match number nine of the night we're going to go into a referee's grip
Just look at the difference of arms. The size of Brian Shaw versus Brandon Allen is nothing but impressive.
395 pounds he told me he weighs right now we chatted yesterday a little bit.
Shoulder in Brian. Shoulder in. Don't move. Fundamentally Brian should be
stronger than Brandon almost everywhere. Don't move. Let's see what happens when we see
the first go. Don't move. And Brandon spins out. Strap. And he's gonna go into strap.
Brandon Allen wants the strap. His style asks for the strap. He's way too tall.
He's way too tall. He's gotta move back. Webbing was completely off. Brandon said
he's way too tall. Way too tall. So we can see here a slip. Brian was trying to
hold on for a little bit but not too much. We know the strap will allow
Brandon to use all his strength and maybe put Brian in a very very bad
position. This is scheduled for five rounds. Best of five. Good? Yes sir.
Brian has the buckle which may or may not play a big role into this. If you
pull kings you might like the buckle on your arm because you can tie it up really really hard so you can spin out.
Now Brian we need to move you back. Move you back so we can get center. Let's see where this goes.
Shoulder in. Shoulder in. Shoulder in. Don't move. Don't move. Close your thumbs. Don't move.
Waiting for the go. Go. Oh yeah. And Brandon Allen stops Brian Shaw right there.
Brian is not in a good position. Brandon is baiting him to come forward. It's very low.
And Brandon Allen takes over and pins Brian Shaw. Let's wait for the calls. Official calls from referees.
Elbow foul. Elbow foul for Brandon Allen. Listen this is not looking good for Brian at all.
He dropped low. He didn't use his frame. You can see how low he drops his arm.
It's almost completely open. More than 90 degrees. Brandon comes forward.
I didn't see where the foul happened there. Oh okay. There's a big hop right there.
When he transitioned which is an advantage gain for sure. So one foul on Brandon Allen.
There's a lot of hype behind Brian Shaw. And he's facing the hype killer.
You have one foul. That one foul on Allen of course here in round one.
I don't see much aggressiveness from Brian. He's been busy organizing but he said he can switch it on if he needs to.
And he needs right now. And he needs to stay high. I feel like this will be a long match.
Brian I need you to move back so we can get center. Move back.
Brandon has advantages. He's more than five years into the sport. Arm wrestles regularly.
Brian is still very new. A lot of these positions doesn't feel comfortable for him for sure.
Don't move. I hear hard breathing. That might be Brandon.
Don't move. Go shoot!
And Brandon hits sideways. And transitions. And gets a pin.
Looks to be the case. It's a pin. It's a pin. Brandon Allen the hype killer.
Let's take a look at that. Straight from the go. Open hit sideways from Brandon Allen.
Has hand control. Has arm control. Transitions to a press. And finishes Brian Shaw.
There should be two people in everyone's corner. I don't know.
You've got to get the first three inches. He thinks now you're slower.
And he's going to blast you off your arm every time you jump on him.
Don't be frightened to just rip this guy open. Across four inches. Rip him across.
When they say don't lose. That's when you will start.
When they say don't lose.
Adjust your hips. Feel it right from your hips.
Like you're throwing a ******* ball. Like you're throwing a punch.
Great stuff. Great camera work. Excellent work by our audio crew there.
Ten seconds to go and then both men have to be at the table.
Time's over.
Brandon Allen. There's a lot of advice from the corner.
Sometimes you can take that advice if you can actually do it.
Let's see if Brian Shaw can use all that advice.
Round two. They get set. They grip up.
Hands are getting closed.
Round number two.
Holds on to the fingers. Doesn't allow Brandon Allen.
Brent has a foul.
Listen. Assume if you can stay out of the strap.
Brian can dominate.
Let's see this one more time.
Hands getting closed.
Brian uses that insanely strong grip strength to hold on on the thumb of Brandon Allen.
And makes him foul.
This is a good strategy versus anyone that wants to go for the slip.
If you can hold on to it.
So now the challenge for Brandon will be to get the strap.
One foul for Brandon Allen.
Still round number two.
Brandon might try to slip under. Let's see.
No. Tries to spin out.
Brian holds on.
Holds on.
Gets a better hand control.
And gets a bang!
1-1!
The loudest the arena has been tonight for the hometown man.
Even at 1-1 here Ray. Here we look back.
Again. Brian used those insanely strong fingers of his to hold on.
Not allow. Slowly re-gripping, re-gripping.
And then transitioning and pressing down Brandon Allen.
For Brandon the challenge will be to get the strap.
And I think for Brian it will be to stay out of the strap.
1-1!
Yup. We've had five sweeps here tonight.
Couple of injury DQs.
Only had one other match that's gone.
Four.
This one going at least four.
In the best of five series here.
If this is forward, everything else is higher. Get me?
So on that start, you must initiate over the first two inches.
If you relax and you beat him on that, he's doomed.
There's Allen at the table waiting.
Time down to 15 seconds.
And counting.
Yeah, I know. Yeah.
Let's go, Brian.
Ace versus West rules.
Almost every slip that's not buried goes to a strap.
So if Brandon in any way or shape or form can actually escape the grip of Brian Shaw,
he has a great chance in this match.
But right now, that is the challenge.
Push him. Push him. He's pushing.
He's pushing a lot.
That's center?
No, but stop pushing.
Shoulder in, Brian.
I need your elbow back, Brian.
Thank you.
Close your thumbs.
Don't move.
Round number three.
Go.
And again, Brian holds on to slip.
Let's see.
Brandon hits, but hits right there.
Brian transitioning to a press.
Holds on.
Let's go.
And there's an elbow foul.
Oh, no, no, no. That's not an elbow foul.
For Brandon.
Point was on.
Let's see a replay on that one.
Let's watch it right here before.
Let's watch it here.
Still good. Everything good.
Yeah.
Fully off. Fully off.
Good call from referees.
Pleading his case to no avail, but it clearly came off there.
So a foul on Allen in a 1-1 match.
Brian Shaw can go up one here.
The Colossus in Colorado.
Stop pushing.
Okay.
Stop pushing.
You're going to end up in the warning.
Let's not do that.
You're pulling me.
I know that's because you're pushing.
Look at his hands.
I haven't got that far.
I'm working here before I work here.
Now I need you back.
Shoulders in, both of you.
Luke doesn't get scared of big men.
Gets in fights with them all the time.
Stay there.
You can't in this business.
You've got to come forward, Brandon.
What do you mean?
I mean you've got to bring your elbow forward so we can get center and even webbing.
Close your thumbs.
Don't move.
Both guys are huffing and puffing.
I feel like Brandon is going.
One warning.
But that might be a better strategy if Brandon can surprise Brian with a flop wrist press
and just go for a slip or go for a pin there.
Was that a false start?
He's got a warning and a foul on him.
Sweating like crazy.
Actually, he was swelling like crazy just sitting and eating breakfast also.
One foul.
One warning.
You've got to start center.
I need your elbow.
Stay there.
I need our hands over here.
Square up.
Come on.
Don't move.
Stay here.
Square up.
Don't move.
Stop pushing into me, Brandon.
Close your thumbs.
One warning on Brandon and one foul.
Don't move.
Waiting for the goal.
And Brandon jumps forward for the flop wrist press and actually gets some success.
And gets the slip.
Gets the slip.
This is what he wanted.
This is what he needs to keep this match alive.
Straight into the strap match.
Let's see that one more time.
Right on the go.
Brandon shoots forward with his shoulder.
Let's go for his wrist.
Brian still trying to control him.
And a slip.
That was a good nice slip.
But still, Brandon needs to be very careful.
He's on a...
Like...
As thin as the ice can be.
One warning.
One foul.
For many people, this is the main event.
We are at the Shaw Classic.
And that is Brian Shaw on the table.
Can't crash the party, right?
Crowd acknowledging what you said, clearly.
They can hear us?
They can hear us, yeah.
Shoulders in.
Square up.
Shoulders in.
Don't move.
Waiting for the goal.
And Brandon jumps.
Gets the lock.
Let's see what Brian does.
He's transitioning forward.
Flopper's press.
Elbow.
I think they want to contest that the shoulder...
There's the flag.
...shoulder came off the center line or crossed the center line of the table.
What do you think?
Let's look back.
I didn't see from that angle.
I had a feeling that was good.
I have a feeling that was good.
He doesn't move much forward.
Let's see.
Still good there, right?
I think this...
Yeah.
Maybe.
But we have to look at the center.
Yeah.
Center view.
Gary Shaw looking there.
Look at those expressions.
Yes.
Challenge flag.
Put on the table by Brandon Allen's side.
So it's in the hands of the referees.
I have a feeling.
I haven't seen it, but I have a feeling.
It's going to stand?
It's going to stand.
I think so too.
Yeah.
I'm going to take that side.
Eddie Hall...
Let's see.
...in there looking on.
Yeah.
Here's a better angle here, Ray.
This is what they are looking at.
It's hard.
Way over.
Yeah.
The real question is did Brandon's elbow come off first before...
Yeah.
After reviewing the protest on shoulder over center, the protest is denied.
What?
The call stands.
Are you kidding me?
Call stands.
There you have it.
So a 2-1 lead for Brian Shaw here.
Faster.
And Brandon Allen.
Faster.
However long this goes, if it goes 4, goes 5, he cannot challenge anything else.
No.
Let's take a look at that one more time.
Look at the ******* center pad in his shoulder.
------- pressing like that too.
I don't think his shoulder...
I don't either.
Yeah.
I really don't.
From this, it looks nice.
Here's Kerry Shaw.
And the crowd chanting, Kerry, Kerry.
That's such bullshit.
We know she's been very involved in organizing all this.
Absolutely.
Not only the Shaw Classic, but also Strongest Arm on Earth East versus West 19.
So we want to thank her for that.
No question about it.
What a great event.
It's a massive day tomorrow for the Shaw Classic and Sunday.
You can watch all those events on theshawclassic.com.
As we're on tonight as well, along with evwsports.com.
So we are getting down near the clock here.
It's 2-1.
Brian Shaw leads this.
Correct.
Difficult match.
Can he seal the deal?
I have a feeling Brandon will go for a flopper's press straight from the go.
Here we go.
Get the strap.
Still in the referee's grip.
Yep.
Round number four.
I'm going to need you to move back just a little bit.
I need you to square up for me so I can tell where your elbow needs to be.
Just bring that in.
Leave it there for me.
I need your elbow back though.
There you go.
All right.
I need you to take that carb out and be flat for me, all right?
Shoulder in.
Both of you, shoulders in.
Don't move.
We can hear the breathing from both guys.
You're doing this and I need your palms flat.
Very difficult at this point.
There we go.
Close your thumbs.
Don't move, guys.
He's pushing.
He's loading me in.
Both of you are pushing, so let's just stop.
Bring your shoulder in, Brandon.
I'm only trying to keep it centered.
Don't.
Look how carved in he is.
Look at his wrist.
I'm feeling like Brian is going to meet him right in the center and try to go over him.
Stop dumping your wrist before we set this up.
I'm only latching up.
All right, guys.
Come on.
Let's get this going.
Now he's pushing me over and you're wrenching on me.
I need you to stay here until we close the grip.
Bring your shoulder in, please.
Shoulder in.
Brian, elbow back.
Bring your arm down a little bit.
You're both carving.
I'm not even.
It's because of him.
Consequently, my hand turns.
Towards.
There we go.
To center.
Shoulders in.
Open your thumb, Brian.
Close your thumbs.
Don't.
Round number four.
Wrist.
Don't move.
Come on.
Turn, guys.
Straighten out.
Don't move.
Go.
And.
Brian Shaw contains.
And pins.
Brandon Allen.
Three.
One.
Stop.
One elbow foul on Brandon Allen.
Let's take a look at that one more time on the replay.
Right up there.
He doesn't have a land.
A little instruction there from his corner man.
So it comes down to this.
Allen with a foul.
Brian Shaw trying to close out.
Elbow down.
I need it behind my hand so we can maintain center, Brian.
I'll get there.
Stay there for me so I can get center.
Square your shoulders first before we worry about the hands so I can work on center.
Square up for me.
I need you to come down, Brian.
Right there.
Close your thumbs.
Don't move.
Go.
Holding on for his dear life.
He already has.
How's he not over center?
How is that not over center?
So it's over.
I'm going to go review.
So you're the official there.
It's going to go to review here.
What's your take, Ray?
Brandon's saying shoulder over the...
It's not over the center for me.
Far from it.
At least from the view that we got.
Let's see what happens here.
Brian's very satisfied with this match.
This is what they are looking at down below us.
So here he comes forward.
I think that is done.
I have a feeling that's done.
Like his shoulder didn't cross the center line.
The look on Alan's face just digging in as much.
You can't do nothing.
Don't do that, Tom.
There's nowhere you can go.
Nope.
I wanted a foul right there, but I don't have any to give.
Okay, after a ref review of our call, there was no protest.
We wanted to review our calls.
There was no shoulder over center.
The call is an elbow foul on Brandon in a losing position.
Loss of match.
There you have it.
A 3-1 win for the man hosting the party here, Brian Shaw.
Defeating Brandon Allen.
It will be a special presentation.
White carry will come out with the hardware and Brian Shaw.
Showing love to Brandon Allen and the fans here inside of Blue Arena in Loveland.
Acknowledging that as well.
One more look back at the final moment in the match.
We'll get down to Neil with Brian.
Brandon just trying to do everything and anything he can do with the power, the strength.
And the size of Brian Shaw in the end was just a little bit too much.
And here are the two combatants there after a 3-1 win for Brian Shaw.
Down to Neil.
Kerry Shaw, make your way up and present some trophies to this man.
Brian Shaw, ladies and gentlemen, with the win tonight.
Second outing, second win.
And tonight was just incredible.
What a test.
You picked a very difficult road.
You picked a very difficult opponent.
The man's a banana skin and he really gave a good account of himself, Brian.
Yeah, I mean, first and foremost, I want to take my hat off to Brandon Allen.
I mean, he trained, I knew he was training.
He took this opportunity very, very seriously.
That was a heck of a battle.
So please give it up again for Brandon Allen.
Now, obviously, Brian, you knew that he had the King's move.
We've seen him sort of derail the hype train with Larry Wheels previously with that same move.
He threw it in there early, but he had other tricks.
He came in with a really joined up game plan.
Yeah, he really did.
I mean, my, and these are all things I'm going to just have to learn and improve on.
But with my setup, I had to be so far back on the pad that I really didn't feel very comfortable
because I wanted to move back, but I didn't want to elbow file off the back.
So it was one of those things where, you know, his arms not quite as long.
So I'm just going to have to learn that as I go.
But he was, he was strong.
I mean, again, tough opponent with everything going on with this.
I wanted a tough opponent.
I didn't, I didn't want to bring somebody out on this stage, you know, promoting this,
that I would be able to just easily walk through.
And, you know, I hope that you guys were really entertained by that.
It was fun.
It was a lot of fun to put it on.
Now talk to us a little bit about your preparation in terms of what you expected
and what you actually got from, from Brandon himself.
You've got a Kings mover that you've been training with.
You've had a little experience, but there's nothing like doing it under the bright lights.
No, he was tough.
He really was.
I mean, there's a couple of positions.
And again, he, in the setup was, was, you know, he's pushing,
he was trying to get a lot of different things there.
So it's a lot of different looks that I have to try to adjust to.
And, you know, I was just trying to do my best with, you know, all that setup.
There's so much going on right there to try to get what I want.
And, you know, I was able to navigate it pretty well.
I mean, I'm sure I'll look back on this and analyze it and say,
hey, I could have done some things better for sure.
But, hey, what, what I'll say is winning, winning is fun, right?
So you've got to come out, you've got to come out to win.
Brandon came to win, I came to win.
And, you know, when two guys come out and battle, man, it's, it's a heck of a lot of fun.
And I'm, I'm very, very happy to come out on top for sure.
Now, let's talk a little bit briefly about the other challenges that you must have faced here.
I mean, everybody's here in the Shaw Classic.
We got strongest man on earth coming for the next two days.
It's all around the arena here.
And you've been right at the front and center of that.
Your stress levels were peaking.
How difficult was it to keep control of that, to keep it under measure,
and to come up here and perform like you did?
Look, it's, it's tough.
It's, it's very, very tough.
And I want to point out my wife over here, Carrie.
She's the rock star.
She's, she's the, you know, yeah, I, I, again, I'm, yeah, give it up for, give it up for my beautiful wife.
She, she does more behind the scenes.
We both do, right?
Like we sacrifice a lot to try to make this all happen.
And, and, you know, it's really, really incredible what, what she does.
And I've always said like, hey, I might be in front of the camera and get a lot of attention,
but what Carrie does, like I said in my speech a couple of years ago,
you can, you, a man makes or breaks himself by the woman that he chooses to marry.
And I did a phenomenal job in choosing my wife because she, she has elevated everything in my life for sure.
Now, Brian, you're putting a huge amount of endeavor, a huge amount of work and dedication into the sport.
You're exciting this thing.
In your mind, when we're going to see you again, when do you want to get back up here?
Gosh, that's a great question.
I mean, that was, that was so much fun.
I kind of want to do it again, like, you know, soon, soon, but I, I want to improve.
I really, really do.
And there's a lot of levels to this game.
I understand that and I respect that for sure.
And, you know, I, I know that I've got work to put in, right.
And I'm going to enjoy the process of putting that work in.
I work more behind closed doors than I think people realize.
And I'm very, very dedicated to what I do.
So I'm enjoying the process of this.
I'm enjoying it.
You know, all the, the fans of arm wrestling, the world of arm wrestling.
You know, it's, it's been, you know, a little bit of a rocky road the last maybe six or eight weeks, whatever.
But you know what?
This event came to life.
Look at all these people here, all the people tuning in around the world.
That's what it's all about, right?
Like, and the, and the Warriors seriously coming out here and putting on a show.
I'm so, I want to say thank you to them too.
I mean, all the athletes that are here.
It's about the athletes.
It's by the athletes, for the athletes.
That's what this entire weekend is about.
It's for the fans.
It's for, you know, the love of strength sports.
And I feel like arm wrestling fits so, so well right along.
And I hope all of you are excited for the strongest man on earth as well.
It's going to be, it's going to be incredible.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Brian Shaw, your winner tonight.
