The 2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E-Prix wasn’t short of great racing and some fantastic overtakes, here’s some of the best!
As the lights go out and we go racing, good start from Cassidy, nice one from De Vries as well.
Look at DaCosta going side by side with the Mahindra as they come down towards the first corner.
Mortara also jostling for position as well.
He is side by side with Norman Natto, Cassidy with the lead.
DaCosta to the outside and off onto the grass and to the gravel there is the number 23.
That's the Nissan of Norman Natto who's in some bother down at Turn 1.
DaCosta got a good start. He tried to go around the outside of Nick Cassidy
and in the end didn't quite get a good enough exit,
which allowed the Mahindra of Nick De Vries to go into second place.
But watch Dan Ticktum.
He's made a great start and is now battling wheel-to-wheel with Edo Mortara, Tom.
Yeah, fantastic there for Dan Ticktum.
New livery on that Cupra Kiro looks slightly different to what you might expect,
but that's opened the door here for Pascal Berline to send it through on the inside down at Turn 7.
Can he get the better of Mortara?
He's got the inside line and now he's got the place then.
So that's great for the Porsche driver.
Disappointing start for both Nissan drivers, especially Norman Natto,
though as Berline goes around the outside.
Yeah, and Pascal Berline just working his way nicely up towards the front, now up into P2.
And there's a front wing that's gone missing there from what looks to be one of the Nissans.
Is it one of the Nissans? It's certainly a red front wing that's gone missing
and there's been some contact in the mid-pack.
I know, it's De Vries, it's De Vries.
Yeah, it's De Vries, Nick De Vries with his front wing that's missing there.
So he's had some contact.
Let's look at what happened then for the Mahindra driver.
So we're coming here in towards Turn 10.
You've got da Costa on his outside, Berline directly in front and...
Oh, he just misjudged it.
Pascal Berline getting impatient, wants to try and lead this race.
I just wonder if he's trying to force the hand here a bit, Cassy,
just to get him to try and pick up the pace a little bit here, isn't he?
I think that's exactly what it's trying to do, you know.
We're on a really good position, good job, Peter.
The two Nissans, they're very close now with the Citroën of Jean-Éric Vergne.
Vergne's come through from 18th on the grid.
He's made some good progress in terms of track position into now 8th position.
So 10 places gained there.
As we see Jake Dennis fighting wheel-to-wheel with Jean-Éric Vergne
going through the fast Turn number...
What's that? Turn number 8.
Yeah, Vergne's driving like he's left the gas on here, isn't he?
Side by side with the Andretti driver.
Now he's going to have the inside line as we come through into Turn 10.
Dennis goes for the outside line.
Gaps there with Gunther directly in front of him.
Great jostling for position and good respect between these two drivers.
Drogobic is just behind these two and he's in attack mode with just under 4 minutes now remaining.
Yeah, less than mine, everyone.
There's only one use of attack.
Oh, the two Andrettis very close into the chicane.
They've made it through.
So this is all going well for Drogobic right now,
but he is the only driver to have taken his attack mode
and he's filtered his way all the way up to P5.
Two minutes to go.
He should really get to the front of this race very, very soon
as he hits the back of Antonio Felix da Costa there.
A little bit naughty from the Brazilian.
Now he makes his way through up into P4.
Drogobic is just trying because he was out of position
or he felt he was out of position on the grid.
He's trying to do something different.
And he's actually found his way into the lead, Tom.
Let's have a look at Taylor Barnard here then.
So number 77, golden black machine on the inside of Verne.
There was a bit of contact that's going through the right-hander
and it sent Verne off onto the gravel.
So that'll be noted by race direction.
I think that's a little bit much and a bit naughty from Taylor there.
Yeah, I mean that was, yeah, fantastic.
Well done, guys.
Pepe Marti and Dan Tictum, his teammates.
On the outside is Marti with the extra traction, the extra power
and he's going to use that to his advantage very nicely
on the exit of Turn 7 to move his way through into second.
Now into the race lead.
The Spaniard is in front to the roar of the crowd here in Madrid.
Evans is about to exit out of the pit lane side-by-side.
We go between Da Costa and Gunter.
Gunter with the outside line.
Da Costa defends the lead as we come down into Turn 1.
Where does Evans exit amongst the mire?
He's side-by-side.
It was Lucas di Grassi, Gunter and Da Costa.
Now Gunter is ahead as we come into Turn 2.
Tip and Buemi side-by-side into Turn 1.
Buemi just about holds on to the podium places for now.
But he's about to come to the end of that sat mode.
Just five seconds remaining and then he's surely going to be a sitting duck
to the challenge of Dan Tictum who goes to the outside line
and gets himself through into third place.
Mortara fancies picking the pockets of the Envision driver there as well
as Mitch Evans who's come through from seemingly nowhere.
He's gained 10 places from where he starts on the grid.
Possibly make that 11 places
because Buemi again cycles down the order once more.
Another awesome drive from Mitch Evans.
He was nowhere, he's been nowhere all weekend
and then in the race he comes alive.
Oh, that's a proper move there from Eduardo Mortara on the outside.
Look at that send from Dan Tictum around the outside into Turn 7.
Side-by-side he goes with his fellow Porsche-powered machine of Pascal Wehrlein.
Tictum's got the inside line as we come on the run down the hill into Turn 8.
Into the braking zone of Turn 9 and Tictum through for second.
Evans lunging his way to the inside into the final chicane.
Gets the move done on Pascal Wehrlein and moves his way through for third.
I wonder if the two Jaguars are going to be trying to work something out,
do some team tactics to challenge for this victory.
Evans goes for the outside line for second place on Dan Tictum through Turn 10.
He's got the track position and manages to find the gap there.
And now it is the two Jaguars that are 1 and 2.
DaCosta leads his teammates.
DaCosta leads.
Evans goes for the outside on the inside.
It's Dan Tictum side-by-side with the Kiwi as they come through into the final chicane.
Out of the final corner we go now.
Antonio finished.
DaCosta wins here in Madrid ahead of Mitch Evans.
It's a Jaguar 1-2 and Wehrlein gets onto the podium with third place ahead of Dan Tictum
right at the chequered flag.
It's a Jaguar 1-2 in Spain.
