Come with me as I go on the ultimate Ukrainian BBQ and craft beer tour in Odessa, Ukraine! My night began at Rebernia at 8 p.m. I had been to their restaurant in Lviv and fell in love with their unbelievable pork ribs. I’d follow that with some craft beer at Mash Taproom a block away. I was so hungry and couldn’t wait to begin! 👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: https://teespring.com/stores/davids-been-here The restaurant is located on Derybasivska Street, the main pedestrian street in town, where you can find live musicians performing. Rebernia is an amazing spot. It’s known for its giant, rotating grills, which are usually filled with juicy pork ribs! Their selection includes both bottled and draft beers. I went with a Zenik Blonde Ale to start. It was light and delicious and reminded me of a pale ale. The best thing about Rebernia is that they give you no cutlery or plates. You eat on the table, with a bib on, with your hands. My waiter brought the ribs, which he chopped with an axe you can actually buy for $150. They come with a cup of barbecue sauce that you can drizzle on the ribs adds a sweet and sour flavor. The meat closest to the bone was the sweetest! This was an incredible VIP ribs experience. I loved pulling the meat off the bones and eating with my hands. Luckily, they give you a roll of paper towels at your table! Then, I dove into their cheese pesto salad, which contained some of the tastiest tomatoes I’ve had in a long time. The combination of the cheese and pesto made for a great palate cleanser. Next, my waiter Igor brought me a Potato Egg Bacon Monster, which comes with a piece of fried potato, thick-cut bacon, a fried egg, cucumbers, and tomato sauce. You eat it with your hands! The meat was so tasty and the potato was like a fritter! The fried egg was unbelievable! I couldn’t get over it. They were really treating me like a king there. Everyone was so nice, and the food was outstanding. This is the ultimate meat experience in Odessa, hands down! Then, I moved on to a Milk Stout, which reminded me of a creamy Guinness. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but I had the best seat in the house inside with a view of the grills. I ended my meal with a bowl of ice cream that reminded me of chocolate mousse. I’m not a sweets guy, but it was really tasty. I was so full! I then took their secret exit and the guy from Rebernia walked me to Mash Taproom, where I met Andre. They have 12 beers on tap and over 100 bottled and canned beers. I started with a chocolate stout from Kyiv, which tasted like a melted brownie and has a malty caramel flavor! Nine of the beers they have on tap are from Ukraine. They also have a number of international beers, including one from Estonia. My next beer was a pastry sour beer made with marshmallow, pomegranates, and blackberries. It was a sour but sweet and fruity explosion in my mouth! Next was a hoppy lager from Kyiv. It’s like a New England Pilsen or New England IPA and has more floral and tropical hops. In addition to enjoying a drink, you can also eat in their gastropub. They have tacos, blood sausage, fried cucumbers with honey and chili sauce, and more! The fried cucumbers were incredible and reminded me of Korean gochujang sauce! Next was a triple IPA, which was one of the best IPAs I’ve ever had! It was hazy and sessionable and had a nice mouthfeel! What a night! Where have you been? No pork at night. Indian way.
What's up everyone this is David Hoffman from David's Bin here coming at you from beautiful
Odessa Ukraine. Tonight I'm super excited because I'm taking you on a delicious food and beer tour
of this beautiful city. It's 8 p.m right now and we're going to start off at Riberna. Riberna is a
place I went to in Lviv. They have a location here. Basically what they do is pork ribs on a
rotating grill. Incredible. And they also have craft beer. And from here we're walking to Mash
Taproom gastropub like literally a block away and then we're going to try mad delicious craft
beers. If you guys don't know about the craft beers in Ukraine you are missing out. They are
so good. They're delicious. Let's walk into Riberna. Let's go eat. Yeah and the restaurant
is right here next to the main pedestrian street. It's hard to say. It's gonna be right here.
Yeah look at this. Live music. Wow.
Anatoly. Anatoly. Let's do this. Nice to meet you. And this is it. Riberna. Rotating pork ribs. Can't
wait to eat more of it. I told you before this is the coolest experience ever with ribs. I've
never seen this before other than the same restaurant in Lviv. The rotating grill right
here just keeps going. They keep flipping the ribs and that's what everybody's eating here.
They have this. They have a few other things. You have vegetables. They have salads. They have
burgers. And they also have amazing sauces. So there's two different sauces right here. I think
that's barbecue sauce and honey mustard. I'm like 100% sure. The restaurant's big big big. And they
also have a lot of craft beer. Wow look at those ribs. So good. Oh these are the roasted red peppers.
Over here what else they got. That burger looks so good. It's endless food here. So think of this
more like a like Ukraine barbecue with craft beer. We're talking about craft beer tonight,
right? Ukraine craft beer. So they have bottles and they have draft. Here they have Lviv craft
beer. Dark ale. IPA. Blanc. I think I'm gonna go with a dark. Dark? What do you think? What do you
think? What's your favorite? Zanik. Zanik. Zanik. Zanik. For me dude? Yeah yeah. Awesome. So this
is Zanik. Zanik. So what's this? It's light craft beer. Okay. Yeah so it's like a pale ale.
It's delicious. I love it. You look like a gangster man. I love your hair. Your hair you're like
viking. I'm viking. My man. The best thing about this place is there's no cutlery. They just draw
right here and use your hands, right? Yeah. That's it. Ribs. Ribs. Ribs. One portion for you,
yeah? Yeah one portion. What for you? Sweet or? Let's go with sweet. Why not? Why not?
Amazing. And the grill's right there. Oh what a great spot. It's so cool. Oh yeah. I remember this.
Serene ribs. Maybe they'll bring me something else but I really like the ribs. The ribs are
so good. Delicious. They're so tender. All smoky. Grill right there.
And today I'm alone. Completely alone.
I just take it off right here.
So good. Right they come. They chop it up with the axe. If you want you can buy it. It's like 150 bucks.
Oh so tasty.
Sweet.
That's how we do it here at Rivera. So what you should do, get one of these and just like drizzle
some of this. Oh. Like a sweet and sour barbecue.
They literally falling off my hands. They're small. They're not like beefers. Beefers are huge.
For me they're both delicious.
The best part about any animal, well besides the organs, is the ribs.
Any meat touches bone.
It's sweeter. Oh this piece, just dip it.
I'm so happy right now. Everybody's so nice here. Obviously they treat me like VIP right?
I'm VIP. Now you guys know when you come to Odessa and Lviv, you have to come to this spot.
What's this?
That sauce. No pork and knife. Indian way. I literally just like.
Don't worry. Don't be shy. Everybody here's doing the same thing. I could do a full rack easy. You
know 12? Very easy. Especially the size. The beef ones. I just did everything. So they give you
paper towel on the side obviously. Using your hands you do this. And over here he gave me something
else. I have no idea what he gave me. We're gonna try it right now. Oh it's like a salad.
Just tomatoes, cheese, looks like pesto. Right there. Tomato.
This country has some of the tastiest tomatoes. You know Bulgaria,
Balkans in general. They have incredible tomatoes here as well. Wow. Oh my god. So oil, got pesto.
I think there's some basil in here. Oh yeah. Amazing palate cleanser. I'm gonna flush it
all down with this. Without Ukraine, it is just Ukraine. That's my meal. Ribs all day.
Please let me know in the comments what's your favorite ribs. Beef ribs, lamb.
Lamb is awesome for me too. I just love lamb. This is potatoes with grill with bacon and eggs.
What's your name again? Igor. Igor. Last time I was like on a food tour so I didn't go crazy
with all the food. This time I'm going to one spot to eat, the next spot to drink.
So I'm going all out. So he said potato on the grill with bacon and egg. And I eat this with
my hands and like tomato sauce. Just like dip this. Oh wow. It's like a potato fritter.
I think cucumber too.
And then. And you eat it like this right? Just with hands. Yeah yeah. All with hands. All with
hands. Yeah man. Oh right there. Just gushes out. Mmm. Get the sauce right here. This is
the best experience.
Oh my god.
Tonight I feel like a king. Straight up.
And this is the best way to eat you know. Like I got used to it because of India.
Get another beer man. Another man. Hey I'm getting full man. I'm getting full.
When you eat this has more taste yeah? Always more taste. The enzymes. Yeah. Like in India man.
Like dump it on top. Mix it up in here. Oh yeah.
You guys are too nice. Oh they made my night. I was a little nervous outside. I was like
what's happening? Why are they? And they're like come in. Potatoes. Cucumber. Tomato sauce.
And egg. Let's try this dark beer.
Camera here. It's almost like a Guinness. Like a milk stout. Mmm. So good. So creamy. Hey.
It's not ribs. This is riberna. They give you an entire roll man. A huge roll. They have to.
Your hands get super sticky. Obviously mixing all this food. Obviously once you're done you go to
the bathroom. You wash your hands right? But cheers. Bud more. Bud more to this incredible
restaurant. Riberna on the main strip. It's so good. Done it. This place is great for families.
It is awesome. Look families everywhere here. Obviously lots of couples. Lots of friends.
You can sit outside. You can sit inside. I suggest sitting inside where I'm sitting.
There's only two tables here. I'm looking directly at the grill. I can stare at it all day. I'm just
I'm in love with watching food being made. Yeah the beer. I'm gonna finish this one.
I'm gonna leave that one because I'm going to another beer place right now.
Oh this is my jam. Stouts always. Guinness. You introduce me to beer. I love you. Guinness for
life. I'm a Guinness lifer. No more food. I know there's dessert coming. This is for you. What's this?
All right. Dessert. This is chocolate ice cream. Moose.
Whoa. So good bud. You guys know I'm not a sweet guy.
Sweet sky. A little overdone right now. Really full.
Maybe a little more.
What's happening? I'm done. I'm gonna finish this. Relax for a little bit. I'm going to the next place.
This guy's the man. Again. Again. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. I'll see you soon. Okay.
We're exiting in a secret way. Let's go to Mashtab room. Yeah. Yeah. Got a VIP escort.
This guy is awesome. And this is it. Mashtab room. Let's go inside. Andre. Hello. I'm Andre.
This is a Mashtab room. That's a really cool craft beer pub. We have 12 tabs. More than 100
different bottles and cans. So I really would like to see you here in the next couple of months.
Cheers guys. All right guys. So we're gonna see what we try. Maybe something on draft.
Yeah. What do you have? You have anything dark? You want us to try with something dark? Oh yeah man.
What is this? It's chocolate stout. Basically it's a milk stout with the addition of chocolate.
It's a Kyiv local brewery. A really nice brewery from Kyiv. They do really nice IPs and stouts.
I think it's one of the best breweries in Kyiv. So I hope you will enjoy it. This is chocolate stout.
Man. It's like a brownie. A melted brownie right here.
And it's light right? Not too high in alcohol? It's like 7.5 maybe. Something like that. So it's
not too light. It's good. It's good. I think like you know half pint is really cool to drink.
Full pint is gonna be a bit difficult. Yeah. But still it's you know it has a really nice body.
Lots of like multi caramelly brownie flavors. Exactly. Really filling though. You drink two
of these and you're like ugh. So he has nine Ukrainian beers on top. He has two other ones
that aren't from Ukraine. So international beers. And then he also has international beers
in cans and bottles right? Yeah. And some of the best. One of them from Estonia he said.
Yeah like the Pokhjala. It's a brewery from Estonia. They're like the top brewery in Estonia.
And also they have like they're one of the breweries that are like in top 100 trade beer.
So like top 100 breweries in the world. So it's an amazing brewery. I really suggest you to try it.
So it's from Kharkiv. It's a 10-man brewery. They made pastry sour. It's made with marshmallow,
pomegranate and blackberry. So basically a pastry sour. Pastry sour beer. Yeah.
So it's like a liquid ice cream. Like a sorbet or something like that.
Wow. Yeah so sour. At the same time it's like sweet.
It's a marshmallow right? Yeah.
So they added marshmallows to the tank. That's crazy. It's almost like a sour marshmallow
explosion. I don't even know what to tell you. It's like a little fruity. They're not too
not too too sour. They're not sour. They're like almost like oranges you know. This is great.
I would say this is the best brewery in the Ukraine right now.
I mean they make the best IPAs. They make the best New England IPAs, the best stouts,
the best sours. They're amazing. It's called 10 guys. 10 men. 10 men. The name. My guys. 10 men.
And that's in east in Kharkiv. Kharkiv. That's in the border up there right? Yeah. I started
the map. I haven't been there. Next time I go over there. It's a really nice city. Okay we'll
do the hoppy lager and then we do a really nice triple IPA. Hoppy lager and then a triple IPA.
It's a brewery from Kyiv and the name of it is Plemya. Plemya translates in English like a tribe
and the idea of this brewery that they always make something really cool especially like stouts,
sours and IPAs and this one is a really cool New England I would say IPL or something like that
and they actually call it like a New England Pilsner. Basically it's an India fell lager.
Not too much of hoppy flavors but then the aroma is awesome. It's not as bitter as like you know
Czech Pilsner stuff like that but still it has a lot of you know aroma, flavor. I mean that's
how I feel about it. I mean I would say that's a beer that I would drink like every day.
Okay every day. Well I'm gonna drink it every second.
Whoa, it's different. Yeah man so I do feel like it's more like the Pilsner rappel you know but
with hops. Yeah the hops here are more flourish like tropical and not really you know like
grassy. Yeah it's not like the hops like of an IPA where it's like dank you know like super doubles
and it's like too much. This is great and they also have an incredible menu so you can come here
and eat as well. It's a gastro club right? So you can try blood sausage here, you can try smorrebrod
from Scandinavia, you can try some tacos or you can try fried cucumbers with chili sauce, peanut
and honey. That's what he's making right there right now. Yeah he's in progress. Oh man with
honey too? It was fermented so you fry it and you add the sauce with the peanut, honey and chili.
I swore I wasn't gonna eat any more food.
Nice. Oh you know that sauce like the sauce in Korea.
Basically that's the idea of the sauce was a mixture of different cultures.
So it's sweet and sour and hot at the same time. I lost a piece you know it doesn't really matter.
Not done. It's not done. There's a little sip. You never leave your beer unattended.
This is a triple. That's a triple IPA. Most people don't know about triples. That's basically the
imperial IPA. No? That's actually not imperial. It's a double imperial IPA I would say because
it's 10.5% ABV. It's a double dry hop. It's really hazy. Nice. A lot of hoppy flavors. A lot of
tropical grassy jointy you know flavors. Danky. Danky. Let's go.
That's actually our own import. That's a swedish brewery stick baguette
from I guess Göteborg. Yeah from Sweden. Goteborg. Yeah. Those guys they do a really cool
American style hazy IPA. I love them. This is like probably one of the best IPAs I've ever had.
That's actually the first New England IPA like American style New England IPA that I tried in
my life. It was like five years ago. It's too good. I mean the Swedes are doing it better than
Americans. What's up with that? It's more of a sessionable. Now look at the hat. Just amazing. I
mean it's so I would say like oily but it just it just gives you a really nice mouthfeel.
Just you know overwhelms you totally. This is the beer connoisseur right here. What do they call that?
Cicerone. Cicerone.
I'll be lost in the kitchen here.
The girl's doing crazy. Crazy. That's it guys. What a tour. My god. I am full. Too much beer.
Oh ribs. Beer. Ribeirne. Ribeirne. You have to go there. Ribs experience. Rotating grill. Just the
best. Wow. Plus the beer. Oh and eating with your hands. Nothing like it. Plus all the other stuff
right. Potatoes. Tomatoes. So good. After that we went right next door to Mash Tap Room. Had an
incredible experience there with Andre my boy. You're the man dude. Incredible beers. Odessa,
Ukraine. If you guys never been, you gotta come. If you love this video, thumbs up. Leave a comment
