I have loved turtles and tortoises for as long as I can remember. They’re my favorite animals on the planet. I love them so much that I even have several tortoises as pets at home in Miami! Come with me as I feed Africa’s largest tortoise in my backyard!

My tortoise enclosure is home to three massive sulcata tortoises (two males and one female), the third-largest tortoise species in the world. My daughters named them after the Ninja Turtles! I feed them lettuce and hibiscus flowers every other day.

I love coming out to my enclosure and seeing them. It’s a relaxing place for me. I give them a nice spray of water and give them some to drink, too.

In my smaller enclosure, I have three red-footed tortoises, which are from the Amazon Rainforest, and a yellow-footed tortoise. I suggest wearing gloves when handling tortoises, as they can carry diseases.

I also have a baby marginated tortoise, which is the largest tortoise in the Balkans. He’s only two years old! My Sulcatas are over 30 years old. My biggest, Leonardo, is 50 pounds! You have to be careful feeding them, as they may nip at your fingers!

Do you have any pets? I want to know about them! Tell me in the comments below!
