Book Your Belize Experience with Charlie the Traveler: https://charliethetraveler.com/our-multiday-tours/belize/ With another day in beautiful San Pedro, Belize ahead of me, I headed out to gorgeous Caye Caulker to get a taste of the country’s amazing seafood!
CAYE BREEZE CAFE: On the beach, we saw a man named Sherman grilling pork and chicken outside of Caye Breeze Cafe. We also met some vendors selling jewelry made from conch shells!
ICE N’ BEANS: Here, I got a shot of mocha vanilla iced latte and a cold brew coffee.
LOBSTER: Near the beach, we found Chef Kareem, who grills lobsters and pork chops. He gets them from a fisherman by the water who catches them. Chef Kareem seasons them and adds garlic butter and seasoning. The lobster was tender, buttery, and succulent, and came with some coconut rice and beans and a fresh salad.
THE SPLIT: Next, we headed to The Split, a channel in the sea carved by a hurricane. You can jump from platforms into the water there, and you can also find craft vendors selling wooden sculptures and carved Mayan calendars.
PRIME SUPERMARKET: Here, we browsed the shelves and found a lot of items you’d find in the US: toilet tissue, Heinz ketchup, hot sauces, Pringles, sodas, fresh fruit, and more. We also passed a nearby no-kill animal shelter!

Where are you guys heading to? Key Cawker? Key Cawker. Number one stop, okay?
What's up, first stop. 13 minutes boat ride, no napping please. No napping, awesome.
So we just sat down, there's a lot of people on this boat and we're headed to Key Cawker.
This is considered one of the best places to relax in Belize.
And it's only like a 30 to 40 influence on the island.
It once was a fishing village and now it's a tourist hotspot.
As you can see, there's crystal clear blue waters.
Lots of small restaurants and shops along the beach.
And it's just a gorgeous place.
So what time do you start cooking? Because it's early.
We start at 9, so it's ready by 11.30, you know. Perfect.
That's some good meat. Alright dude, I'm sure I'll see you later, okay?
What I like about this island is that it's one strip.
Right in front of where we got off, we have this street.
We have a restaurant, we have two types of tacos, small little cafes, right?
So we've got breakfast, lunch, and chill.
And right in front we have the crystal clear blue waters.
It's so scenic. This is the real Peruvian right here.
So as we make our way along to the main street,
we have a vendor here selling all these beautiful conch shells.
Everything made of conch? Everything made of conch.
Everything made of conch. Wow.
This is very nice. Look at this. My daughter's.
Some nice earrings.
This is made from the shell of a conch.
Look at these bracelets, huh?
Made from conch.
So let me show you what a conch shell looks like.
Conch shell.
So I bought my kids a conch shell when I was in Tobago.
I'm sure it's like $20 for the lease.
$20 US.
Very nice.
So if you want to go shopping, you have this spot.
I'm sure you have more spots though.
Where's the lobster?
Keep going. Keep going.
It's a beautiful dog.
Fantastic.
I need a coffee. Let's go inside Ice and Beans.
Hello.
How are you doing?
Oh, I need a cold brew.
What is this?
That's a Mocha Vanilla Ice Latte and it's made of sweet.
For you two.
All of you will get one.
Try a welcome shot.
That's good.
Thank you so much.
Amazing.
Try this.
It's good.
It's tasty.
Very earthy, this one.
That was very nice.
They have other stuff here too, right?
They have bagels.
They have coffee.
Smoothies.
I think we should continue though.
Have a great day.
Bye.
Ice and Beans is a nice little cute stop, right?
Beautiful place right there on the sand.
You can chill.
They have hammocks, picnic tables.
You can have some food, have some coffee.
This is what this place is about, right?
Just chill.
It smells amazing.
It's really hot right here though.
What is that over there? Gravy?
That's garlic butter.
That's going to be good with the lobster.
How much for a lobster?
$35.
Chef Kareem.
So you're Chef Kareem?
I'm working with Chef Kareem.
My name is Pepe.
So this is Pepe.
He's working with Chef Kareem and they have pork chops,
they have chicken, lots of chicken.
I love the marinade and the spices they're adding on top.
Right here, my friend Sparrow has like
a hundred spiny lobsters.
Look at this.
Look at this guy.
Monsters, huh?
Remember, to the end of February is season for lobsters.
The rest of the time that you can't touch the lobsters,
it is illegal.
I love it so much.
So he opens it up here,
cuts the back, cleans it in the salt water,
then from here it goes straight in
to cook, right?
So behind us we have a few different shops
serving seafood.
We're going to eat at Chef Kareem.
His food looks bomb.
Wow.
Looks good. What did you put on this? Spices?
Special seasoning.
Oh, and the butter, huh?
So right here we have Chef Kareem
and he's throwing the lobster on the grill.
So he adds some seasoning,
put it right there on the grill.
It's going to be yummy.
So you're going to add also some butter, right?
Yes, we're going to add some garlic and butter.
Oh, it's hot right here. I feel it, man.
Chef Kareem, man.
This looks good.
Juicy it up with the garlic and butter.
Wow.
Spiny lobster, right?
Yes, it is.
That's our Caribbean lobster.
Looks epic, bro.
Oh, you're going to throw some more on top?
Great.
Thank you so much, Chef.
Thank you.
Awesome. Thanks, guys.
Spiny lobster. Nice and buttery.
Ooh, just off the grill.
Look at that.
And then on the bottom, we have some rice and beans.
Of course, always rice and beans.
He said there's some coconut in here, though.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, so much flavor.
And for this, the best way to do it
is to go in.
Cool.
So hot.
Too hot.
Sizzling garlic butter on top.
Mm.
Seasoning.
I think what makes this is that garlic butter on top.
Mm-hmm.
Plus, the view out here.
Got pelicans. You have little docks everywhere.
Oh, man.
Let's do this.
Let all that flow into the rice and beans.
Get this. This is actually how I like it.
A little bit of coconut.
So, I'm from Miami.
I've had a lot of rice and beans.
But when they add coconut into it,
even better.
This is such a chill island.
Literally gives me the most relaxing vibes
of all time.
If you're single or you're a couple, come here.
Relax. Chill. Be on the beach.
Have some lobster. And what a place, huh?
Well, and the price for this is $35.
So, I think it's not bad.
I mean, $18 for a lobster
with size, with the view.
I mean, the view is priceless, right?
We just arrived here at The Split.
This place is extremely windy.
And there's a bar.
There's a restaurant.
You can jump in the water.
And you can actually cross the other side
of Caye Caulker from here.
This was created by Hurricane Hattie
which cut a large channel of water
cutting the island in half.
They later cleaned it up
and it looks very nice now.
There's a restaurant and bar.
People come here to relax, sun tan,
get a drink, and chill.
Right here next to the Lazy River
we have a platform where you can jump off
into the crystal clear blue water.
This was an experience.
I was a little nervous when I got to the top
but once I landed in the water
I felt great. I thought the water
was going to be cold but it was actually nice
and warm. As you can see, this is
the map of the island. It shows you
where you get on the boat from the ferry.
It's a very small island.
There's an airport and just
lots of small narrow streets with bars,
restaurants, and cafes.
I'm Rudolf.
Rudolf? That was my grandpa's name.
Oh yeah?
Rudolf carves these beautiful
pieces of work.
Look at this. Beautiful wood craftsmanship.
You've got crocs, turtles,
stingrays,
manatees.
Wow. Very nice.
I love it man.
What do you charge for a piece here?
We charge no less than like
$15-20.
A piece like this
for the week.
Everything comes apart for traveling too.
Something like this I sell for $10.
Alex right here
carves these beautiful Mayan
pieces of stone. Here he
shows you the Mayan calendar.
This is the Mayan history.
I highly recommend you buy something
from him and if you don't happen to
find him, there's more vendors selling
similar things throughout Belize.
I personally took one home. It's awesome.
Okay so on the way to the ferry
we have a supermarket called
Prime Supermarket. We're going to go inside and see what things cost.
Hot sauce.
That's what I want to get.
Toothpaste.
Soap.
$10.
The same as the states right?
Maybe a little
price here only because they have to
bring it here to the island.
Toilet paper maybe? We'll see how much
that is maybe.
$2.50. Is this U.S.?
Yeah, it's U.S.
They're going everything by U.S.
Syrup. $7.
$2.50 U.S.
Heinz ketchup.
$10.95.
It's expensive.
They have grapes. They have kiwis. They have peaches.
Some Wirriri pepper.
Look at this. This is like super hot
pepper. This is spice from Guyana.
Now I'm going into Belize.
Ginger beer.
$3.50.
Alright, let's go.
We have coffees, hot chocolate.
How much is the coffee?
Coffee is $17.
What's this one? Leon? Never seen it before.
Not cafe?
Always.
That's nice man.
That's super kind.
Let's go.
This island is for all ages minus
kids. I haven't really seen that many
families around here. I've seen a lot of
retirees, you know, relaxing
by the beach. A lot of young people
in their 20s. Some married
couples as well. You can come here
and go swimming. Dive off that board.
Have beers.
Really just hang out, right? This is like the most relaxed
I think I've ever been in my life. I've been to
some other islands like San Blas, Panama
where you just chill.
But this is chilling slash
touristic slash relaxed
vibe. That's sort of what it is, right?
So if you're ever in San Pedro,
definitely come out here. You can do a half day. You can
stay out here if you want to. There's a lot of hotels.
They also have Belize Chocolate Company right here
but we're going to do that in San Pedro.
And I think our time is up. Almost.
And if you're looking for a house,
you can buy something here. They're $150,000
for 10 acres. Is that what it
costs? Wow. $75,000
for that part of the shore right there.
Piece of land. Pretty good deal, man.
You gotta buy the land and then build a house
though.
How you doing, bro?
Bucks.
