Cabin Rones, designed by Sanden+Hodnekvam Architects, is a compact 47-square-meter retreat set within the steep, rugged landscape of Steinkjer, Norway, carefully adapted to its natural surroundings rather than reshaping them. The design is defined by a solid concrete base that steps with the terrain and a lightweight timber structure above, wrapped in dark roofing felt, creating a clear contrast between grounded and elevated elements. With a mostly closed rear and a fully glazed front facing the fjord, the cabin emphasizes a strong visual connection to the landscape, while its interior combines raw concrete with warm wood finishes and built-in plywood furniture to create a simple, cohesive, and functional living space.
