This House Hides Underground… But Looks at the Ocean
#architecture #architecturedesign #modernarchitecture
At first, it feels like something is off. A house facing the ocean… that looks almost closed. But the Plaza del Mar House, in Mexico, was designed this way on purpose. Instead of exposing everything to the sea, the house controls how it opens.
The upper level is fully oriented toward the ocean views. The lower level is more protected, partially embedded into the ground. And a layer of wooden elements filters wind, light, and exposure.
Nothing here is random. Every decision responds to the site, the climate, and how the house is used. A simple idea, but very precise.
A house that doesn’t just face the ocean… it decides how to live with it.
