Best Sightings February 2026 San Diego Whale Watching
February brought unforgettable moments out on the water, highlighted by incredible encounters with migrating gray whales. Guests were treated to rare displays of courtship and mating behavior—slow rolls, belly‑to‑belly interactions, and affectionate pair swimming that offered a remarkable look into the lives of these gentle giants. Offshore Bottle-Nose Dolphins are a crew favorite and we enjoyed multiple large pods this month. We also enjoyed occasional visits from humpback whales, adding surprise and variety to our winter sightings.
Dolphin activity surged this month as well. Large pods of energetic common dolphins returned in impressive numbers, riding our bow and filling the horizon with splashes. Pacific white‑sided dolphins made frequent appearances too, delighting passengers with their playful leaps and striking black‑and‑white patterns. It was a month full of life, energy, and unforgettable wildlife moments on the San Diego coast
