The Secret To Making Friends Easily

These six steps have helped me meet new people, have more friends and never run out of things to say.
Starting with step one, take the lead. The secret to making more friends is to understand that you
can't expect others to build friendships for you. To have friends, you first need to be a friend.
And to be a friend, you need to start something I like to call a streak.
Just like those bloody snapchat streaks that was literally the only reason why you were friends
with certain people in school, building better communication is a skill that needs to be
Now I know what you're thinking, talking to new people every day is terrifying,
but thankfully there's a much easier way to do this.
Step two, develop a routine. Building streaks with people is so much easier when you go to
the same places at the same or similar times each week, because eventually you will just
become a regular face they feel comfortable being around. Whether that's a coffee shop,
a gym or a simple walking spot, having a routine will help you become more seen and visible around
people and can lead to great conversations and potentially friendships.
And over time, the more people you see, the more they are drawn to talking to you again and again
as you just become a regular figure they probably see more than their family. Now don't be weird
and follow these people, give them some space and once you've instigated a couple of interactions,
see if they'll gradually come talk to you and if they don't then that's okay,
they just weren't meant to be your mate. Now step three, how to find good friends.
Your goal here isn't to be friends with everybody you see on the street, your goal is to find people
who may value the same things as you, share similar interests or just be a kind person.
So find good people by simply finding people doing good. Always keep an eye out for people
who are doing good things, this could be somebody picking up rubbish from the floor,
working hard at their job or somebody even volunteering at a local shop and tell them
how good of a job they are doing. Those who give their time to help others without expecting
anything in return are often the ones who make the most genuine and valuable friends.
Step four, how to make people remember you. You've found what looks like a good friend and they ask,
so what are your plans for the weekend then? Now most people respond, uh I don't know,
probably just sit at home, pretty boring, what about you? But this is so boring, even if it's
reality. So instead think of a niche hobby that you enjoy which might make you a little different
but would definitely help you stand out. Do you know what, I think I'm gonna watch all the
Harry Potters this weekend, I'm gonna do a marathon. This not only makes a start of a
great conversation, is that even possible? But it also makes the other person remember you for
so next time they see you, oh hey how was Harry Potter this weekend? Now step five,
create a specific plan. Now the last thing you want to do when you finish a conversation with
someone is say, let's be friends, come to mine tomorrow? Because they're most likely going to
take a photo of you and report you to the local forum. So instead be genuinely interested to get
to know the other person by asking them loads of questions and listening to what they have.
Hey sorry I just see you at this coffee shop every now and then, I just want to say I really like
Then get their social media or number once the conversation starts to fizzle out. You see many
people make the mistake of then texting that person for weeks until there is literally nothing
to say. But what you should do is after getting their number, reach out to them again almost
instantly and create a specific plan to see them. And don't just say let's get a coffee sometime
because that sometime will be never. You've got to come up with a specific plan. Do you want to
because then it's a simple yes or no to whether they want to be your friend.
Step six, finally how to have a good first meet up. Now there are a couple do's and don'ts that
you need to be aware of if you want to have a good proper meet up with a potential friend.
Do's, arrange to do something with that person like a sport or an activity.
It's much less awkward than just sitting there for a coffee. Good latte? Yeah.
Give them a vocal hug. No, no, not a real hug, a vocal hug. This is a way of making the other
person feel really welcomed by using your voice to portray your energy. Just picture what it would
sound like to give a hug with your voice and also make sure to talk less and listen more.
Ask them as many questions as possible because if they open up then they like you. Ah okay,
now tell me more about yourself. I love hearing more. Keep going. What's your family like? Now
don'ts. Don't talk about your damn self all the time. Got a new PR yesterday on bench at the gym.
Yeah, 95 kilograms. I bet yours isn't. What's yours? Can do like 80. Nah, that's not as good
as mine. What's it? My road to 100 kg. So what are you? You know I'm eating chicken,
sometimes chicken for breakfast. What do you mean? I don't care. I don't care. I do not care. You
still look small mate. Oh my. Don't overshare your social life straight away. I don't really
have many friends. Okay. But also don't lie and don't pretend to be somebody you're not because
people deserve to love you for you and if they don't then they aren't meant to be your friend.
Thank you.
