Good morning and welcome to another vlog.
This one is going to be a little bit of home cafe,
cozy, snowy content because New York City
got a blizzard, and hidden gems because I have been trying to find some things
that are off the beaten path for you all. I know
that you really enjoy in a Soho, Upper East Side,
things to do if you're visiting, but I really really love discovering
little hidden gems and I've got a couple up my sleeve. Before we get
started, thanks to the snowstorm, I had a little bit time inside
to do some art and I thought that we could
redecorate the espresso corner slightly. So let's make a coffee in the home cafe,
let's switch it up a little bit, including
this cutie little mug that I got at our local pottery studio. They have a tiny
shop in the back of their cafe and I love
digging for treasure there. I found this around Valentine's Day, so
I'm going to add it to my mug shelf. We can make a coffee and then
reminisce on the blizzard. The first blizzard since 2016
and I think we must have gotten almost two feet of snow.
It was a lot, but Luca and I had the best time
outside playing around in the snow, rolling around, doing a snowball fight,
building a snowy dinosaur, so I'm going to share these clips just for the mems
because we don't often get this amount of snow. So please enjoy
the little mix of cozy home cafe and snow content
and a few hidden gems if you're in the city or you're planning to visit soon
and you need some more suggestions. Grab your own cup of tea and coffee and
let's get started.
For any of you just tuning in to the New York City news, we got our first real
blizzard since 2016. More, well more than a foot of snow
and it is perfect powder conditions now. It just stopped
snowing a couple hours ago. It's now like 4 p.m.
The sun is kind of trying to peek out back there and
it's a beautiful balmy 34 degrees. It is an actual winter wonderland out
here. The snow is so deep it's going
to like my mid calves. Hold on, let me show you.
That's how deep it is. But messing up the smooth part is most of the fun.
Go on, do a snow angel. Oh wait, no, then you're gonna get really snowy.
I think I want to do one. Okay, I'm gonna do it. Oh no.
Oh god, I'm gonna regret this. That's actually really good, look. Look
at my snow angel. Yes, good job. Looking good.
See, you see it? The body, the wing. Burying the dinos? I can find them.
Okay, where are they? They're here. Aha, but will you find the other one?
Nice. Good morning. We are in Greenhorn this
morning for a truly hidden gem. Emphasis on hidden.
There is a little coffee shop tucked inside of a bar.
Name anything more Brooklyn and we are going to grab a latte.
It is so lovely and chill in Cadet Coffee that it would be the perfect
place to come and plop down with a book in the morning.
More bars should do this, but I am hungry so instead I am headed around the corner
to Nick and Son's. This was one of our favorite bakeries
for a while in East Williamsburg and they now have a location
in Greenpoint right across from McCarran Park.
So I'm gonna head in, check it out. It's been open for a while but this is the
first time I'm actually getting to go because
they sell out of things pretty quickly and they close pretty early so usually
by the time we make it there and make it to McCarran Park the croissants are gone
but not today. It's early in the morning and I'm about to snag myself some
pastries.
After getting blasted with so much snow, New York City is still covered and so
is McCarran Park right across from Nick and Son's so I
thought I could go take a little stroll. I also spy a lot of snow people so I
thought we could go snowman peeping because
New York City went crazy for that and everybody was outside building them.
The snow was so perfect for it.
It's so peaceful in this park. I could sit here
with my eyes closed and my face in the sun for ages
if I didn't need to go back home soon. It's so relaxing. I feel like I'm on a
ski holiday with the boots crunching in the snow
and it being so bright from the sun. It's actually not that cold outside today
either so it just feels like a breath of fresh air
after all of these storms. Here's your little reminder to touch
grass or snow or wherever whatever you water wherever you are.
I forget to do that sometimes and it's so nice to just
take a moment and relax.
Sadly all the snowmen look just a little bit melted.
All right I've got my pastries. I'm gonna take these to a Mr. New York please for
some breakfast and I will see you guys back at
my Brooklyn apartment. Good morning! It is laundry day in our
house today. My mom was here all weekend long and it
was a lovely time but that means I have a bunch of sheets
to wash so I'm just getting all the things together
before heading out the door. Normally I would go to our laundromat
down the street but my friend shared a recommendation
with me and I am very intrigued. Apparently there is a new laundromat
slash cafe that's really aesthetic in Brooklyn Heights. It's an easy
bus ride away from where I am in my apartment
so today I thought I would sling my laundry bag over my shoulder with all of
our sheets and head down there and probably bring
my laptop or a book and do my laundry do a little bit of
reading and maybe explore the neighborhood a tiny bit while I wait for
my laundry to finish. I think it's worth trying this hidden
gem just for the experience but before I head out the door I want to
thank today's sponsor Laundry Sauce. You guys know that I've
been using Laundry Sauce for our laundry for a while now and I am
so in love with the scent that it gives to our
clothing. We picked Australian Sandalwood. All of their
fragrances are by high-end fragrance developers and you can
really smell that as soon as you open the box. It just
hits you right away. It smells so good. It comes in these little pods which are
so convenient to carry with me to the laundromat
and you basically use one or two of these depending on the size of the load.
These little pods are made with a powerful bioenzyme blend for stain
removal and fresh fabrics and we need all of
the help we can get right now because Milo is creating so much
baby laundry for us. It's insane. So having these powerful little things to
make sure that our laundry is clean and smells amazing and is stain
free has been a game changer. This is the scent booster. It
comes in little pellets and as you can see I've been putting this product to
work. I also add in the fabric softener for
good measure and then of course the most beautifully
packaged dryer sheets I've ever seen. This I throw in when we dry our clothes.
These dryer sheets, like all of the other products, are free
from harmful chemicals and they also serve to soften the fabric further and
reduce static cling which is key in winter. If you also want to
then use my QR on screen or the link in the description
and my code newyorkplease15 for 15% off your own laundry sauce products.
They have a variety of scents so if you really love fragrance,
have at it. I am now going to pack all of these things up including our sheets
and let's head to the hidden gem laundromat. I'm so excited to see what it
looks like.
Clothes are in the dryer. I'm having a latte
and I say we explore this cute little neighborhood street in Brooklyn Heights.
There are a couple of really really cute storefronts
including a donut place and another coffee shop and on the corner
there is the River Deli which is a restaurant I've been eyeing for quite
some time. It doesn't open till five for dinner so maybe I'll be able to convince
Jackson to take me there sometime on a little
date or we'll go as a family but the other two spots are very much
open and I'm hungry so let's go find some pastries,
donuts to try and then enjoy this absolute
marvelous sunshine. Let's enjoy this little laundry downtime.
Oh my god this smells delicious. I managed to get a fresh one. They just
came out of the oven. I'm so excited to try this cinnamon roll.
So good.
Donut, perfect size. There's a small and a large. The small doesn't have a hole
and you've got kiddos or you like to try a lot of different flavors.
Beautiful amount of donut and so fluffy.
Laundry is officially done and I am going to head back to the apartment and
end this video here. I hope that you enjoyed all the little
hidden gems sprinkled throughout and I would go so far as to say this
entire street is probably a little hidden gem. Columbia
place is so calm in the midst of a very busy
Brooklyn. It's also really really lovely in summer
and it's on the street that you take down to get to Brooklyn Bridge Park if
you're walking to the waterfront. So it's tucked away. There are
brownstones, a cobblestone street. It's so so cute so I
highly recommend checking it out if you're around here.
Thank you so much again for watching and I will see you guys again here next time
and don't forget to subscribe. Bye!
