Can I just point out that these jeans, these jeans were clean when I started this app.
They might need to be retired after this one.
I'm Lucy.
And I'm Jono.
And this is Renner Goals.
Okay guys, we are down to our last room. We are now transforming the final room,
the guest bedroom. So this is the only other bedroom. So I mean, look,
it's a good bedroom. It is small, but it is good in that it actually has its own ensuite.
So that's a plus. This guest room is very small. It currently has two beds and that's it.
It literally has zero storage, but it does have its own ensuite.
So the ensuite, look, I mean, it's smaller as well, but I actually think this is going to be
quite easy because I'm not changing the layout. I'm just going to replace everything that's here.
Whilst we're going to keep the layout of this ensuite the same, we'll still need to demo
everything. So we've got fresh surfaces to get all the new finishes in.
So not as easy as I thought.
No.
Guest bedroom. Hells yeah. Remember how I was all like, I want to turn that cupboard in the
kids area into like a kitchenette. And I was like, great idea. You were like stupid idea.
It's a cupboard.
No, it's what it is.
No, it's not. It's going to be a kitchenette for the kids.
Kitchenette?
Yeah. Anyway.
Hey, don't touch the wall.
I'm not touching the wall.
Went past it. You were about to touch it.
I have not.
You did yesterday.
But as I was saying, kitchenette idea dead to me because instead of choosing to have that space
accessible from the kids retreat, opened it up, now have created a much larger room in here,
which was officially the smallest room in the house. Best decision ever.
Still officially the smallest room in the house.
Smallest room in the house, but bigger than it was before. So love it. Free space.
Yeah.
Yay. You know how we had two single beds here?
Yeah. I've already ordered beds.
Ah, have you? Because I want to do a queen bed in here now that I've got space.
Cool. Got two singles coming.
I do the ordering of product. Why did you go ahead?
Because if I left it to you, we wouldn't have it before Christmas.
That's not... That is so... I've been so good.
And so I think the beauty of this is we have stayed in this room many times.
There's literally nowhere to put anything.
There's nowhere to put a bag.
No.
So like it might be good to put some sort of shelving unit,
maybe even some drawers to put some things away.
Bags can go there. Like this is the perfect guest bedroom now.
This extra bit has, you know, it's changed the game a little bit.
Well, every...
And by a little bit, I mean a lot.
Okay. So we've got a two-foot again. We are designing a bedroom and an ensuite.
Firstly, let's start with the bedroom. We are going to be bringing in
carpet. So this is actually far North range. This is in Daintree.
So this is from Carpet Court.
Again, I really like the warm earthy tones for this.
And this is consistent with what we've done for all of the bedrooms in this home.
Now for the walls, I want to introduce beige calm.
So this was a color I introduced into the kids retreat.
It's a slightly cooler neutral. So a bit different to the Sago
that we've used through other areas of the home.
But I wanted to mix it up a little bit in this bedroom.
However, we will be consistent with the natural white for all of the trims.
I want to be bringing in some timber elements into this bedroom as well.
I definitely want to bring in some Tassie oak for a feature shelf.
And then for that, I also want to bring in these aged brass handles.
So these are actually from Low and Co.
They're actually door handles, but I want to repurpose these for hooks for this bedroom.
Essentially, that's pretty much it for the bedroom.
It's going to be very simple. It is a small room.
So when it comes to the ensuite, I'm going to be bringing in some tiles.
So these are the Albert Park vanilla tiles.
So we use these in the kitchen and also in the master as well.
I like the way these tiles work with that beige calm.
And then for the floor tiles, we're also going to be using Mornington limestone.
So this is consistent with the rest of the floor tiles on that lower level.
And both of these are from Tile Cloud.
For our hardware, we're going to be going with Luxe PVD brushed pure gold,
very consistent with the rest of the home.
So this is from Sussex from Reece.
I just love the warmth of this tone.
It looks so beautiful, especially against these tiles.
So that's pretty much it, guys.
It's very simple. It's very inviting.
It's very, can I come over to your place to stay this weekend?
Which is exactly what I want.
What are you sniffing around for, dog?
Oh, Dusty's helping.
Can you not see?
Dusty and I are sorting out products for you, Jono.
So it's nice and easy for you to install everything.
Well, we need to know what's going where so we can work it out.
Oh, is that the mixer?
Nice one.
And I asked Reece for the smallest possible vanity.
Dusty, pay attention, Dusty.
No, that's a protector to protect the floor from tools, damage and Dusty.
Yeah, protection from Dusty.
So it is.
Oh, sweet. I need all that hardware.
Oh, she's pretty.
Oh yeah, she's pretty.
What do you think?
Look at that. It fits and everything.
Yeah.
Perfect.
So for this, we're actually doing an exposed bottle trap, which is...
So this is actually Mizu Drifts.
This is actually a brushed gold.
So that's the bottle trap.
I don't want to mess this.
I want to keep this in the box, to be honest, because I don't want to mess it up for you.
But...
I kind of need to know how it goes together.
Well, I'm not going to do that for you.
You need to find the instructions.
Dusty, do you know what?
It's Dusty's first birthday today, which is kind of fitting
because this project has also been going for a year.
Happy birthday, Dusty.
I would like to say that you're the perfect dog now that you're one,
but you're probably only about 90% there.
Getting there.
You're getting there.
Just wants to be involved.
That, what's that?
Ah, that's what I need.
Instructions.
Come on, boy.
You nitwit.
Sorry, Dad.
Instructions.
You only go and get the instructions when it stuffs up.
Look at it.
So good.
This is the same as we've got in our shower.
So you need to find...
I'll find in the mixer.
And then...
The mixer is the only bit we're missing.
And then I just want to go into the bathroom with you
and work out heights of things and everything so I can mark them on the wall.
How are you going?
Good.
What are you doing?
Oh, just looking at where everything's going.
This old mixer, it's all plastic and falling apart.
Whatever else.
And look at this stupid hole you had to cut out.
Wow.
Yeah.
Anyway, new one.
We're just going to try and leave it in the same spot.
Question.
It's a question for you.
Yeah.
Let's not make it too difficult for ourselves.
It's just going to go in the same spot.
So we'll just need to make sure the depth and everything's all right.
So heavy.
It's just very loosely fitted together.
Come on.
Well, I don't know.
We don't even have to get that moved then because we don't have much more.
Like, no, you can't go to there because then you won't even be able to install it
because this comes out.
So it's going to have to go there.
Great.
Good solution.
That's exactly where it's going.
All right.
Exactly the same spot.
That's the old one.
Win.
I'll take that as a win.
Oh, that's good.
Less plumbing.
All right.
We've got the record show.
John O'Rod just read some instructions.
The whole house has moved a little bit since we ran out.
That's all right.
We'll just have to adjust it.
Okay.
We'll keep this because we don't have time to order a new one.
Okay.
Could I maybe see it for a short time?
Time to get smashing.
You know where everything's going to go.
It's happening.
Yeah, I've marked it on the wall that I'm about to demolish.
Okay.
That's really smart.
Can you do me one favor?
I'll take a photo of it and I'll write down my measurements.
Okay.
Can you do me a favor though?
What's your favor?
When you're demolishing that wall, can you make sure not to come through to
this wall?
Oh.
Yeah.
No, no, no.
Please.
And can I ask another favor?
What?
When you're demolishing, can I have a go as well?
Because it sounds like fun.
You're more likely to put something through the wall than me.
Yeah.
Touche.
All right.
Let's go.
Hey.
John O.
What have you done?
What haven't I done?
What are you doing now?
Are you still waterproofing?
I'm just, yeah, I'm just doing another coat of waterproofing and making sure I get the edges
done, but done a lot.
What did you do?
How long did it take you?
I can't remember, but we gutted the whole thing.
So all fresh.
I was going to try and save part of the ceiling, but it was damaged.
So everything's new.
New VJ panel on the ceiling.
We're going to have VJ 100 on the wall.
That's all the wet area, right?
It's all the wet area, VJ.
So it's all perfectly good.
And then we've waterproofed and I just got a tile.
Oh my gosh.
Are you excited for tiling?
No, not really.
I'd rather pay someone else to do it, but I'll get it done.
It's a very small bathroom, so it'll be fine.
So yeah, let's get a tile.
So what are we doing?
We're doing floor tiles and then wall tiles just in the shower.
And just this wall.
Yes, please.
We've got our epic new mini version.
Same one as in the other bathroom.
Yes.
But smaller.
It's got the really nice oval.
And I'm so happy that we inset that a little bit because we want to obviously try and get
as much real estate back in this room as possible.
So that's good that we've got that cute little mini basin.
Yeah.
Toilet to go in.
Cool.
We're done?
No, a little bit to do.
Can I help you with the tiles?
Yeah, you can.
So are you excited?
It's a momentous occasion for this is the last room that I need to paint.
How good.
And can I just point out that these jeans were clean when I started this out.
They might need to be retired after this one.
So I've already cut in.
I've already done the ceiling.
I've already primed the wall.
So two coats of paint, another bit of cutting in, and I am done.
How good.
Yeah, here we go.
Jono, I leave you alone for five minutes.
Well, not five minutes.
But what have you done?
You've done so, what are you doing?
So sick of these.
Wow.
One wall done.
Wow, that looks so good.
I kind of flipped it.
Guess what?
What?
It's exactly a full tile there to there.
Really?
Yeah, I didn't even measure it or anything.
Do you know what?
The renovation gods have been looking at you going, do you know what?
Give this guy a break.
He's renovated an entire home.
This is his last ditch effort.
Let's help the brother out.
So I've got your trim on.
You asked for it to go that way.
Yes, I did.
That looks great.
So I've done that one.
I'm going to leave it for the night.
I'm going to just clean up, scrape off the rest of that glue.
Let these ones kind of set in for a bit because then I've got a straight edge to start tomorrow.
We're going to do all of that.
Hey, do you like grouting?
I reckon that's a job for you.
You like lines and graphic designs and things.
I reckon you'd probably be pretty good at grouting.
Yeah.
Look, if you tile, I'll grout.
It's a deal.
Really?
I don't know if that was the right thing that I just did.
I have done an excellent job tiling.
He's got the day off today.
He's gone fishing, literally.
So I thought I'd just do him a favor and do all the grouting.
I've done this bit so far.
I've still got the shower and all these little fiddly bits to go and obviously the floor
and then home stretch.
What are you doing?
Making a mess.
So what I'm thinking is shelf for the kids room, but also shelf for the guest room.
So I want to have additional hanging space, but also a little ledge in the guest room
in order just to put pretty things because it's quite flash.
I'm just conscious that I want somewhere to style and put pretty stuff.
I also want guests to be able to put their bag or their coats, that sort of thing.
You draw it up.
I'll go get materials when we know how much we need and then we'll knock it together.
It's going to be a quick one, an easy one.
Quick and easy.
I've looked for inspo.
I've got some ideas, but I want to make us just a little bit.
Us.
Do you know the total length?
750 is my magic number.
750.
All right, let's start with some 750 backboards, I suppose.
And then we can rip down the timber to make the depth of it.
And then we'll work out the spacing based on how many hooks you're going to put on it.
Okay.
All right, well, let's get get materials and we'll get cutting.
Let me have a look.
Yeah, pretty much.
But I think this probably needs to be a bit shorter.
I'll sand it all first because it's easier.
And then I'll just glue it and staple it.
I don't want that head sticking out when you go to put that flat against the wall.
So we'll just have to countersink that a little bit.
So how do you do that?
Well, I don't actually have a bit on me, so I'm just going to use an oversized drill bit.
That looks good.
Yeah, it'll do the job.
All right, wait for it to dry and we'll stain it.
Put the handles in and we're done.
Cool.
Very happy with how our custom shelf came out.
It's really helpful having these hooks because we don't have robes in this room.
It is very small.
So it's good to have a space to actually hang your clothes and your bags.
So I've got some great koala furniture in this space.
It is a small space, so I needed to choose the right size pieces and they've worked beautifully.
So now I get to style them up and we're done.
So we did leave this room transformation to last.
And I've got to admit, it is very satisfying.
Always satisfying when you're done.
We have finished.
Finally!
Yay!
But I love this room transformation.
It is epic.
It was a very small space.
It wasn't much of a room beforehand.
It was just a room.
It was.
With two single beds.
Yes.
Well, yes.
Exactly what it was.
Literally was.
There was nothing really there.
So I think we've made a lot out of nothing, to be honest with you.
I hope so.
The space under the stairs.
Game changer.
Good decision made by stealing that back from the other room where it wasn't getting used.
So good.
I mean, I was intending to maybe use it for the other room for a kitchenette.
But killed that idea.
Kitchenette next to a bunk.
I know.
For kids.
Better option.
I got overruled.
And I'm really glad that I did because having that extra space in the smallest room of the
home was the smartest thing that we could have done.
That koala unit looks great there.
It's like the perfect size.
Lucky it fits.
Lucky.
But also I really like the fact that you can actually have space for your bags because
this is specifically a guest room.
So you do kind of need space for guests to just literally have their weekenders, you
know, thrown in the corner.
And I like the fact that you can tuck it in the corner because remember before there was
nowhere to put it.
So you'd literally be opening the door and then stepping over.
Over your bags.
Or they'd be at the base of the bed or in the little hallway between them.
It was a mess.
Didn't work.
No.
And so it's a much more sophisticated color palette now.
I really love the feeling in the room and I was really happy to be able to bring in
just a hero bed as opposed to two singles.
We've got plenty of singles in the kids retreat.
We didn't need any more.
I really like the fact that a couple can now come to stay and it's a far more cozier,
more centralized design.
That striking black and white artwork above the bed.
Wren Pigeon does it again.
I mean, I just.
Always nails the shot.
Always nails it.
Have used a few of his.
We have the en suite.
Hello.
Damn.
That's sexy.
It's a good en suite now.
It might be small, but it works.
Yeah, it seriously feels so much bigger now.
It was a very pokey space.
We didn't have a lot of area to move with, so we obviously kept the layout the same,
but we did make sure that we made the most of what we had.
The new tiles open everything up, the color.
It's all really fresh and just all of the fittings work incredibly well for that space.
Yeah, we went floor to ceiling tiles again, like we've done in all the other rooms.
But before, it was kind of only half height tiles in there.
Yeah, it was.
And we had different tiles on the floor to the wall in the previous one.
Yeah.
But I think bringing the tiles floor to ceiling always makes a space look bigger.
It's like adding mirrors to rooms.
I think so.
It's like, yeah, it works.
It helps.
And also the addition of that wet area easy VJ 100 as well.
It just ties in with that coastal theme and allowed us to actually paint and bring color
into that space.
The toilet roll holder in this room is actually different to all the other rooms.
It's finer and thinner, but it kind of works because it's a small, narrow space.
Yeah, it is beautiful.
And that vanity as well.
So with that exposed bottle trap, that's a totally different treatment to what we've
done anywhere else.
That was actually recommended to us from the girls in store at REIT.
So like, this is the best space saving solution for a bathroom.
It's the best way to get a very small vanity basin against the wall.
Exactly.
You don't have that width of the room.
Yeah.
And it doesn't hurt them.
And it looks good.
But ultimately, this all came down to a really good cosmetic makeover, a massive freshen
up, just opening it up and maximizing the space, really just making the most out of
this room.
I'm incredibly proud of it.
A little bit more than cosmetic, but yeah.
You know, I like to just throw cosmetic out there like, oh, it's fine.
I just painted.
Plus the hard work.
So we, Jono Rod, have managed to transform 14 rooms.
And the exterior.
That is a big project change.
No wonder it's taken us nine months and two years of planning.
No wonder my bags are slightly more defined than they were before.
So good space saving challenge.
I think we nailed it.
I'm proud of us.
Fun fact, Jono.
Well, I would have actually filmed more of your tiling.
It's just that I couldn't because every second word that was out of your mouth started with
either an F or a C.
So it wasn't good viewing.
I don't know what you're talking about.
I'll put it upside down.
Upside down, Jono.
Let's try that again.
