【Classical music and nature 古典音樂小站】Frédéric Chopin: Mazurka in B minor, Op. 30 no. 2. This beautiful piece was played by Christoph Zbinden. It has common licence (CC BY 3.0 Attribution 3.0 Unported), and is provided through musopen.org.

Chopin published his Four Mazurkas, Op. 30, in December 1837.

Like the polonaise, the mazurka has its origins in folk dance. It is named after the Mazurs, the people of the Mazovia province near Warsaw. Like the polonaise, the mazurka travelled from its humble origins among the Polish people to the fashionable ballrooms of cities as far away as Paris and London. In Russia, the mazurka found its way into the keyboard works of composers such as Glinka, Borodin and Tchaikovsky. Its greatest exponent was Chopin, who published 41 mazurkas in his lifetime. In fact, he was preoccupied with the mazurka from his first attempt at the age of ten in 1820 until the year of his death in 1849.

The video was captured by Christian Schlegel and edited by Wenjing Ma.
