Overnight clashes occurred in Mexico between security forces and cartel operatives on Tuesday. A number of social media users reported clashes and roadblocks in Mexico’s Toayan, Cihuatlan, Tecolotlan and Autlan areas. Videos shared in social media feature violent fires in Vallarta, Tonala, Zapopan and Guadalajara in the aftermath of the clashes. One video captures fires on the road to Union de Tula, near Mezquitan in the municipality of Autlan, Jalisco. Yet another blaze occurred on the state highway Autlan at the height of Las Paredes in Autlan where a vehicle was set on fire and the roadway was blocked. Several more vehicles were set ablaze in the Jardines del Prado neighbourhood in Tonala. In the early hours of the morning, several vehicles were set on fire on the road to Saltillo, near the Health Center. Yet another video features a tanker on fire on the Guadalajara-Ameca highway, at the height of the El Refugio intersection in Tala, Jalisco. More videos are emerging in social media capturing the scale of destruction, including fires in various parts of the countries after cartel members set buses and businesses ablaze and built burning barricades in the street. The authorities have urged residents to stay indoors. Mexican authorities said that dozens of cartel operatives and 25 members of security forces were killed in the operation to capture "El Mencho” who was also killed. It should be noted that The US Embassy in Mexico issued a security warning telling American citizens in Jalisco, Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Nuevo León to remain indoors. Reports are increasing that tourists, including visitors from the United States, are stuck in Mexico. At the same time, several airlines suspended flights to Puerto Vallarta, a well-known resort city, leaving many travelers stranded and anxious to escape the violence and return home.
