I'm excited.
Idris Elba.
I'm a big fan. You're an amazing actor.
Incredible, you know, sort of body of work.
What's your character's name? What does she do for a living?
I play Captain Olivia Walker.
She is the senior officer of the Sit Room, the Situation Room at the White House.
So she is kind of the tip of the berg of secure information that goes on in the White House.
When I arrive, there is a trajectory of a missile,
maybe, we don't know what it is, coming towards America.
This happens quite a lot.
But it's not until there is a moment where the trajectory changes,
whether it's going to go suborbital or orbital.
It is the weight. It is the understanding what is and when and if.
And within those seconds, POTUS is online.
I cried in two moments of the film.
When the captain was in that final moment where she realized
and she had this dual thing going on,
which is A, save the world, or B, save her family.
Go west as fast as you can.
Get away from any urban centers you can get.
Liv, what the ****? What's going on there?
I'll call you. I love you. I love you.
Can you kiss Liam for me? Just kiss him.
For me, it was you on the plane with Jonah.
How was that interaction?
He plays it so real.
Yeah.
He's a British actor. He's amazing.
You'll see this if you look at POTUS anywhere.
There is a military presence, someone that's standing around that has this black case.
And inside the case is that protocol of what to do in the middle of a nuclear crisis.
Then it's a menu of options.
Literally a menu.
Yeah, literally.
My job is to explain your options and execute your orders.
I'm not qualified to do that.
You carry this thing all day long. I've never seen it before.
It's like a ******* diner menu. I'm asking for your help, son.
I actually call them rare, medium, and low.
It's sick.
I know.
I gotta trace the point.
Medium, rare, and well done.
That's when I broke. I found that absolutely appalling.
It's like, two, three, which one do I choose?
It got me.
It really dawned on me very quickly that there was a real cry out.
Catherine, that's what she keeps on saying.
Yeah.
It's how we spark conversation, because I look at it and I think,
I'm not intelligent enough to stand on the barricades to speak for certain topics.
I can tell a story. That is a proud moment for me.
I always thought having you follow me around with that bullet plan,
with weapons like that, just being ready is the point.
That keeps people in check.
Keeps the world straight.
If they see how prepared we are, no one starts a nuclear war.
Films have purpose, and films can have meaning.
But films can also be entertainment.
You're also allowed to feel it hit you and not know how it has affected you and why.
It's important because it can start the conversation.
That's why we do it, right?
