America’s 250th Birthday to Be Celebrated at Super Bowl
Super Bowl week kicked off in San Francisco on Tuesday with the Super Bowl Experience opening to fans. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of football-related activities. This year’s final NFL match will also celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence.
“What better way to celebrate one of our country’s biggest milestones in its history than the biggest sport event in our country,” said Rosie Rios, Chair for the America250 Commission. “We launched this partnership in week 18 of the season on Jan. 3 at a 49ers game.”
Various celebratory elements have been woven into one of the world’s largest sporting events. The America250 logo is featured on footballs and the coin that is used during the toss. “Heads is the America250 logo and tails is the NFL logo,” Rios said. After the Super Bowl on Sunday, the NFL will auction some of the special coins that have been used for charity.
During the Super Bowl Experience, fans could enter an America250 Airstream and record their American story. Various Airstream have been travelling the country since July 4, 2025. “We are touring the country from sea to shining sea, we are going around unburying the buried treasures of stories never told. We want to make sure that these stories represent all parts of America and all parts of our history,” Rios said.
On July 4, the organization will bury a time capsule that will include various items from the 60th Super Bowl. “And it will be buried for 250 years, so we’re here to scout some possible options on what to include in the time capsule,” Rios said.
According to the chair, Americans can expect several celebratory events leading up to America’s 250th birthday on Independence Day. “So, we’re rolling this up into July 4 with America’s ultimate block party,” Rios said.
