I was livid, but you know, I was really upset that someone could feel this way. About two weeks ago, a well-known business got a rude awakening after moving to Belchertown for more opportunities. The owners of Gail's Auto Repair received a handwritten letter that starts with saying, we know you recently moved to our town. You Puerto Ricans are ugly ghetto trash. The person signs off the letter with saying, sincerely, you're white superior. To that individual, he's right. We are from Holyoke. We are Puerto Rican and we're in Belchertown now and we're here to stay. Belchertown police were called immediately. Police are now dedicating significant time and resources to determine what exactly happened and who may be responsible. Thanks to nearby businesses, Belchertown police retrieved surveillance video. The owners say the video showed clues that would support the investigation. Surveillance footage from all types of up and down Route 9 from other businesses and everybody's cooperating. Community members even stopped by the shop to show their support. They say incidents of this nature are uncommon in Belchertown. Hate has no place in our communities and when you see something like that, the best way to fight back against that is to show love. The auto repair shop is now looking to upgrade their cameras for extra security. Working for you, Sarah Bien-Aime, 22 News.
