So I'm on the way to my first practice of the day.
Sorry about that.
I used to just roll out of bed like five minutes before practice,
but that was back when I lived on campus
and I didn't fully understand the importance of
eating a little something,
having that calm before the storm of the workout.
I don't know, maybe I'm just getting old, but...
Now feels like a good time to introduce myself.
My name is Trenton Sandler.
I'm a junior running track for Louisiana State University,
and this is what a typical day in my life looks like.
Today is what we call a double workout, not a double run.
We have this distinction between what's just like
an easy go-out jog a couple miles
versus an actual interval workout.
Have a good workout.
We're gonna go warm up, like two-mile jog, just the classic.
Good announcement.
I don't know what else to say.
So the purpose of this morning's workout is lactate threshold.
Basically, we're doing like five by one mile
or five reps of four laps.
If you know that point where like your muscles are burning,
basically, we're trying to find exactly that line,
that threshold, and sit right there.
So it's just comfortably hard the whole time.
And like the idea is if you can sit at that line,
you can eventually kind of raise it up slowly over time.
With these double sessions,
the purpose is just get as much volume as you can
at that threshold.
I told you, bro, I can beat you.
No, no, no, you gotta get it low
so you can see his feet come off the ground.
That was the joke.
That's what it was.
All right, same thing.
That was a really good one.
We switch off meat every round.
Hugh, shut up.
Let's go, Jackson.
I got a lot of questions about what I keep in my track bag.
Easy shoes, workout shoes, zoom flies for this morning,
Ray-Ban Metas, sunglasses, heart rate monitor.
This is the Coros Pod Vaseline.
You know, you know.
Zinc, if you know, you know.
Warm-up band, extra spikes, and lacrosse ball.
That's just for like rolling out your feet.
Boring.
Every single thing that's in his bag,
you have to have in your bag.
Otherwise, you're not going to be fast.
Oh, and you have to buy it from the link in my description
because then I get a commission.
Are you going to work?
You don't have a class?
Teacher canceled.
Wait, what do you work?
Uh, Le Moyne.
He doesn't actually do construction.
He runs coffee.
Yeah, you should.
Okay, bro.
They have all these jokes about how I just bring them coffee.
I've never once brought them coffee, all right?
I sit and look at it at a computer screen half the time
and then the other half the time I'm like walking around the site.
That wraps up the morning session.
Really just like easy stuff trying to set the rhythm for the day
because what's more important is the specific work
that we're going to do this afternoon.
Jay, what up?
You want to be in it, Jay?
There's golf.
Between sessions, we got the other jobs I have,
the other hats I throw on per se.
Athletic dining hall.
You know you're in Louisiana when they serve beignets for breakfast
at the dining hall.
Don't judge my food.
I eat like a 12-year-old.
You guys are just chit-chatting at 5.15 pace?
Something like that.
Put your ketchup on there, buddy.
No, no, go ahead, go ahead.
Wait, I'm about to.
Cottage cheese, ketchup, eggs, and hash browns.
Oh my god!
What?
What happened?
I'm a food mixer.
Oh, no.
I apologize if the camera's like shaky because these roads are horrible.
I'm on the way though to my first class of the day.
Yes, I do go to class unless the off chance that like
there are zero parking spots whatsoever,
which on those days I just turn around and go home.
It's not that deep.
What?
I started off as a kinesiology major before I decided that,
I mean, content has been my dream.
Making videos has been my dream my entire life.
It's been something I've always loved.
I got this opportunity.
I started building this platform and I realized that it could be a career.
It could be my, like, I could make my dream career happen.
So I switched my major to business.
As far as like managing school itself and the balance of it all,
I'll give you guys a few tips when I get to class.
It's a miracle, bro.
I found a parking spot on my first time.
That's never happened.
Macroeconomics time.
I thought it was.
That looks bad on me.
I forgot yesterday was a holiday, so today's a Tuesday, not a Monday.
But yeah, accounting.
I promise I take school seriously.
In fact, I wanted to give a little bit of advice on how I manage
and how I think you could manage like school stuff best.
Paper and planning,
which I guess at the end of the day are basically the same thing.
Get a physical paper planner, physical, something you can scratch off
and then take physical notes again on paper.
Those two things have worked wonders for me,
both through a science major and now a business major.
I still maintain like a 4.2 GPA, something like that.
Just where I left her.
Don't mind the bird ---- stains, bird poop stains.
Okay, I have about four and a half hours to kill until the next workout.
And the thing that I'm asked like the most often is,
what do you do in your free time?
Honestly, I cannot give you a straight answer
because it changes every single day.
Most commonly, and like what I'm going to work on today
is I'm going to get some editing done.
I got started yesterday on that.
I'm going to finish up that episode with some homework.
Real quick, if you're seeing this, you're probably not subscribed.
My goal is to hit 100,000 by the end of 2026,
which would make it possible for me to chase this dream after graduation.
So subscribe now.
Thanks.
I really don't have the best kitchen skills,
so everything I make is like three ingredients,
noodles, beef and sauce.
That's it.
Put that seasoning on your ground beef.
Don't cook with plastic utensils.
Just live your life, Bo.
No, I already know I'm going to get some comments that are like,
you're going to get herpes from the plastic utensil you just used.
This is my roommate, Bo.
I live with four people.
Upstairs roommates conquer.
Ain't that right?
Beef, noodles, sauce.
And this banana I took from the PNC earlier.
The dining hall.
Oh, if you get the baby, you have to buy the next one, by the way.
Yeah, we know the rules.
And I don't accept no cheap king cakes.
We know the rules.
Did we tell you how freshman year,
we would always like hide the baby under the next bite
and then I'll eat the other direction.
So Hugh would always get the baby.
And he bought us like 10 king cakes freshman year.
It took him so long to catch on to.
He just thought he was unlucky for the longest time.
I came to the team room a little bit early at the indoor track
to knock out some homework while I wait for the guys to show up
and the videographer at 4.30.
I'm just going to get some stuff done for my online class.
I like to reuse notebooks, as you can tell.
This is Casey, by the way.
What's up?
Gavin.
He's filming.
Hugh's in there.
We just did a two-mile warm-up.
About to start the second session of the day,
which is more about like the specific work,
trying to work toward actual mile pace.
But before we do that,
we're going to do a three-minute tempo around the track
that's just like,
gets the capillaries open, gets the blood flow going.
And then it's kind of a different kind of double workout.
We haven't done it a ton.
It's their first time.
I did it last week.
But with our track season goals,
it's what we got to do.
Specifically, the workout is 10 by 300.
It's two-minute rest between reps.
Feel that rhythm.
That's all these days are about.
Rhythm, rhythm, rhythm.
Whether it's mile pace or like tempo this morning.
First, you never feel like mile pace.
You have rest, right?
Yeah, we got 40.
This ain't threshold, dude.
Is it not threshold 400?
How was it?
Yeah.
45.
Six.
46.09.
They're not milers for showing that mile pace.
Six down.
40 to go.
I knew it.
We got one more.
We decided I'm not trusted to lead
because I start way too fast.
Then I realize that I'm too fast.
That's why I slow down.
Then I realize that I'm too slow.
That's why I speed back up.
What can you do?
Hopefully, mile pace actually feels that good when we rip a mile.
One weekend of the season right now.
We had our first race last week at home.
We have our next race here again on Friday.
And then we go Arkansas, Boston, home again, conference.
And that's the whole indoor season right there.
Except for me, I'm going to Nationals.
I just got a calendar notification that I have a SAC meeting to go to.
So no dinner for me.
Well, they'll bring us dinner at the meeting.
Oh, this is our locker room, by the way.
Mine's over here.
Kansas.
For those who don't know what SAC is, it's an abbreviation.
It stands for Student Athlete Advising Committee, I think.
Basically, every team has one or two representatives that
help make decisions and make sure the team's not getting screwed over in any way.
We learn about new laws, new legislations.
And we meet once a month.
It just happens to be today.
I didn't even think about that when I was planning this video.
I just realized we haven't even shown Mike.
What's an LSU day in the life video if we don't show Mike the tiger?
Yes, we have a live tiger on campus.
Yes, he just lives right here.
Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike.
OK, that's cool, but I really got to go to this meeting.
We got tropical.
Hey, friends, we're at the SAC meeting right now,
where we complain about all the issues the school has.
OK, popcorn and apple in hand.
It's time to hop on the game.
I lowkey forgot that this isn't one of my like Instagram day in the life.
And I actually have to talk to the camera.
I can't just voice over it later.
Here's a full day in my life.
Wrapped up playing some broccoli with Rob,
who's up to Plat 2 Div 2.
I need a lock back in, bro.
I used to be a diamond.
I used to be good at this game, but now I get carried.
But it's getting late.
And if you've watched all the way to this point in the video,
thank you.
