Holy, he's pulling back. Let's just say 86 pounds. Welcome to the laboratory. Today,
I have my physical therapist who's bigger, stronger, faster, jacked and tanned. Today,
we're going to test some broadheads, but why are we testing these broadheads?
This year, I wanted to change it up. I had what I would call a failure last year,
and I just don't have any confidence in my system. So I was like, I'm going to go way different
and try three different broadheads, all 125. So last year I shot a 200 grain broadhead. I'm going
125. It's a little faster arrow. And then, so I got a Tulu, a sever and the iron will wide.
Give us a quick little last chance test. Holy, he's pulling back. Let's just say 86 pounds.
First up is. 021, let's do. The one that's intriguing is the one I want you to try.
Tulu. Let's do the Tulu. Tulu. It does look pretty stinking sexy. Yeah, I don't think you get any
blood on the ground with that, but I do think you can go through everything. I'm going to shoot
through everything. Yeah. And we should probably preface that this is kind of a North Idaho elk
setup, like definitely shooting through everything. Alders, huckleberry brush,
you name it. Big, tall ferns. That's windy. Yeah. Welcome to my house. Wasn't too loud.
Um, in comparison to Dan's five veins, which I would say were about eight or nine out of 10.
Um, I'm probably gonna give that a six, maybe a five out of 10. Okay. And fill point.
Okay. Go check it out. So actually I thought both of them were quiet. There's your hole.
It's going to be a clean hole. Go ahead and pull them and see what you got.
Got the iron will wide with the bleeders and again, left level.
Ooh, that's loud. That's a zip for sure. A zip and a whistle. Um, four out of 10.
I did not like that arrow. That's a loud broadhead.
That one was quieter than the first one. Um, by a good amount, that arrow was pretty quiet. I'm
going to give that a seven out of 10. That first arrow was pretty loud. It was like ripping through
the air. Which arrow had the broadhead on that first one? Yeah. Yeah. Honestly, I felt that I
kind of, it wasn't like my best, best shot. Well, just like audio wise, I could tell it was the
broadhead. It sounded like it was cutting through the air. Four or five. Pretty poor. Not the worst
one I've seen, but pretty poor. It's a wind tunnel here. So we've tested, we haven't tested the
mechanical. So this is the mechanical and this one is the hybrid sever titanium material.
I just don't know if this would bode well in the brush of North Idaho. No. But maybe. But I'm going
to try to do antelope hunt this year. Southern Idaho. There you go. That'd come in handy. Yeah.
I would highly recommend that one for antelope. All right. Well, let's see what we got.
That one was a little bit better. It's a dead antelope. And fill point.
Nice. All right. We'll go check that out. Get a sound from Riley. And then we're going to have
you shoot all three of those broadheads at my antelope 3d target. Yeah. Both of these were
pretty quiet. I mean, I'd say these are the best ones I heard the whole time. Um, I'd give them a
seven out of 10. Interesting. So do you, was the best grouping the first one as far as, yeah,
it was like probably in, well, this is mainly a sound test. Yeah. Cause again, like it's not like
now we're going to test what they can actually do. So you're going to shoot four arrows and
how far? A hundred yards. I guess we're shooting a hundred yards. Let's go.
I'm going to aim for the back, back, right corner of the white. All right. Yeah. You dropped under
it. Planed. Yep. Did you feel like I got a good clean break? Okay. Next up. I feel like I need
all my shots down range now because it's not windy. Yeah. Like time is of the essence. Next
up is too low, too low, too, too low, too low. Nice left and right. Exactly equal to your last
shot. And now you're, that was, I believe you're in foam of the 3d target. Ooh, there we go.
That one was not foam. That one was in the dirt. I was like, I don't feel good left and
shoot a field point now so we can see where we're at. Yeah. That actually felt like the
best of all of my shots. All your shots are kind of going left of where you're aiming. Okay. But
that's top of the spine. Okay. We're going to go pull and we're going to do one more round. Okay.
So you can get some practice at this stuff. All right guys. So on this last round, we're going
to sit the sever out just because it's not going to work for North Idaho. Oh, and it's dirty. It's
dirty. We're going to shoot the wide, the too low and a field point. And I turned the wind down
for you. Here you go. It is down right in the neck. Good height in the neck. Yep. Really just
playing left. And I do think you have a little right to left wind, but not much. And it was a
shot left on your last shot to Tulu pretty much right at the back of the lungs. Okay, cool. That
broad head has shot that broad head. The entire, every test has been really well in the wind's
blowing a little bit. Yep. It's pretty close to that broad head. Just a little right. All right,
let's go check it out. All right. So your first shot was that iron will wide. Sorry. I don't
feel pretty damn sharp. You could probably shave hair. Second shot back of the insert
too low. And this thing has been kind of hanging out near field point impact. Yeah. All tests. We
didn't shoot the sever just cause it was, it missed the target and was in the dirt. Here's
your field point. And it was to your defense. It was very windy, but that's, that's how it is out
here. Did we make any decisions today for bed? Now again, guys, this is the oak shape channel
ABT always be tinkering, not to change things, just to change it, but to in pursuit of what
gives you the most confidence, not me. What's your drawing 32, 32 inch drawing 86 pound bow,
550 grain total airway. I don't see how penetration could be a concern of yours,
but based on your failure last year, you're pivoting towards. So if you had to pick one
between the three, after just today's shenanigans, this is your mic. What would you pick Mike?
That's where it's, that's where it's tough. Cause like this one, I think shot the best,
the Tulu. But like you said, like that is going to be like the cleanest cut. It'll be like this.
Yeah. It's going to seal up pretty tight. And in North Idaho, that's the thing in North Idaho,
like everything is thick. Everything is, I might have to kind of shoot through a little bit of
brush. And that does give me more confidence with, with this one is like going to be able to shoot
through a little bit of whatever and still hit my Mark and probably pass through the Oak. Yep.
Ideally you'll get, you'll get a pass through. I just don't know if you'll get a lot of blood on
the ground, but you can, you can aim right tight to the vital V and take any shot angle with your
energy. So I don't know. Yeah. I'm sorry. I'm not sure now, but you tried last year Valkyrie. Yeah.
Okay. Valkyrie. And I just, I'm not, I'm not sure what happened, but I got two inches of
penetration and I did not hit shoulder blade. I thought it was almost like too far back.
It's mind blowing. Yeah. See, everybody's got to write their own story and find their own
individual truth that gives them the most confidence. That's why I don't tell people
what they should do this or do that. I think you have to come out here and this is just maybe your
first of many tests that you'll do. We didn't shoot it through ballistic gel. We didn't shoot
through cardboard or like blow up pop cans or water bottles. We didn't do anything fun. We just
kind of like, all right, let's see how, but I think over anything you, for you in Idaho and
finish the video is like, it's probably going to be anywhere between 20 and 30 yards.
It's probably not going to be the best shot selection you've ever had, but it'll be all
that you'll get. And you'll work your butt off for one opportunity. You better make it count.
And you probably need to get a pass through. So I think you're down the right path for you.
Wait, we're not done. As Ben and I were walking, cameras were off. He's just really
not finding the confidence in that kind of stuff. So Ben get over here, man. I'm thinking,
so this is what you shot that elk with last year. That's exactly the same one. Okay. You can see
mine are still like lubricated and brand new Virgin. I think it's a great design. Brent Hahn
is a buddy of mine. This is a great setup, but you don't, I don't know if you really need a 200
grain rod head when you're already like 550 total arrow weight that would Jack you up another 75
grains. So you'd be a six 25 arrow. And that's getting into that fairy dust, which is fine.
If that gives, if that's what you want to do. But like I was telling them about this broadhead that
I have some good experience with. So this is a slick trick, Magnum SS Magnum SS standing for
stainless steel. And these are sharp and we've tested them through random stuff like metal wood.
They're very durable. They fly. They have great flight characteristics. It's this up there with
one of my favorite broad heads. It's got the chisel tip and I'm a huge fan of the grim Reaper
micro Hades three blade, but this four blade will get you a square hole. I should get some good
blood out of that. And I think it'll get you the penetration. And so what I was thinking is maybe
we'll do a part two, but before you guys tune out, we're having Ben, I'm going to gift him three
to go test and vet. And they're actually the price point. You'll like the price point. I think it's
between 40 and 50 bucks for three versus what you're paying for the other stuff. How much were
those too low? I would say they were around that a hundred bucks. Okay. Same as kind of run that
iron will grab the case real quick. So people can see what they come in. Nice to Lou to Lou
broadhead co and now he's going to trust those out. So again, tinkering and it's the off season
and you have plenty of time to figure it out. Separations in the preparation catch on the next
Welcome to the grip challenge of today's video starring my physical therapist, Ben Wardell. Come
on in here, Ben. Yeah. I'm going to have to hang for one, two, three, four, five. Easy. Okay.
That's 90 pounds. One, two, three, four, five. Okay. What do you weigh? 220. That's impressive.
I should probably a little heavier than that. Probably 225. All right. Good. Good.
Come on, Josh or five. Good. Here we go. And three, two, one.
15, 20, 30.
34 seconds. Oh, you got it, dude. Let's go.
Guys. Welcome to our elite grip strength challenge. If you win, we're going to give
you a $50 gift card to Born Primitive Outdoor. Here's the challenge. You're going to hang from
the bar, one hand with a 50 pound dumbbell, and you're going to film it. You're going to post it.
You're going to tag Elk Shake. We'll pick a winner at the end of the week and see who's
got the most elite. Now, can you beat my physical therapist who just did a hundred
pound dumbbell for 34 seconds, Ben Wardell? Good luck. Have some fun.
