Winter Storm Brings Snow and Cold; Leaders Clash After Fatal Shooting | NTD Good Morning (Jan. 26)
A massive winter storm brings freezing temperatures, icy conditions and widespread power outages to millions across the U.S. From Arkansas to New England, many places saw over a foot of snow, with harder-hit places reporting up to two feet. Temperatures also reached record lows, with some places going far below zero, and wind chills making conditions even worse. Over 20 states declared a state of emergency.
The fatal shooting of ICU nurse, Alex Pretti, by immigration agents in Minneapolis has thrust “Operation Metro Surge" deeper into the national spotlight. Federal officials say nurse Alex Pretti was wielding a gun before he was sprayed with a chemical irritant, pulled to the ground, and ultimately shot by a Border Patrol agent. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem on Saturday called the alleged actions of Pretti in Minneapolis as ‘domestic terrorism.’
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is indicating there's some progress on the path to ending the four-year war. Zelenskyy says a document laying out security guarantees for the country is 100% ready, and that he’s waiting to sign the U.S. authored document once a date and place are confirmed. Once it’s signed, the document will be sent for ratification to the U.S. Congress and the Ukrainian Parliament.
