EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS： Aston Villa 0-1 Everton

Five of the top six coming into this weekend have already dropped points and Jack Grealish returns to Villar Park with an Everton team hoping to spoil that run. James Garner scored in Everton's last victory here at Villar Park but that was in the League Cup. In the League it has been a different story for Everton against today's opponents. They were two up here last season but still lost the game. They're looking for a good early start here and they've hit the post already. Rule getting in with the effort that comes back off Emi Martinez's post. Will Villar get away with one? One long ball. Bodies in and around. They send it forward. Theono Barry off his thigh and Rowley pulls his shot onto the post. Doesn't catch it cleanly but Martinez was beaten and he gets lucky. Villar get lucky. This is Torres launching it looking for Emi Buendia and the touchback favours Buendia. Rolled across to Rodgers who couldn't keep the effort down. That's a big chance for a player of his quality. It's a good run from Emi Buendia already. Mikalenko. Fingertips to it from Emi Martinez. Brilliant from Roll. He's had an excellent start to the game. Mikalenko. Decent strike. Power on the strike but straight at Martinez has gone short with this one and gets it back from Jack Grealish to make an angle for the cross and they've scored and it's Jake O'Brien but the flag is up. The cross goes in. Let's touch and go with O'Brien's offside. I think it may be Armstrong who's in an offside position at the point of the cross. I suppose it's whether he has any impact but I think O'Brien's onside. Here's Mattson. Pull back to Morgan Rodgers and O'Brien on this occasion was in the way. Or maybe it's a moment like that at the other end which sparks Villa into life. Mattson sees the space. Drives forward. He wants to get back into a position for the corner and it's played back to Morgan Rodgers. Pickford thumps it away. It caught Everton a bit off guard. There he comes. Just into the picture. Had a drink. Powers the shot. Incomfortable for Pickford. Uri Telemans. Now Buendia with Watkins having pulled out left. Mattson. Telemans. Bogard. It's Cash with the cross. Telemans with the header. Just drifts in really late. There's the run and he gets up. See what he's trying. He goes back across Pickford trying to find that far corner and he's not far away. First half Jacob O'Brien header that was ruled out for an offside. Not against him. That's broken off Torres. McNeil and it's come back to Barry who's got it in. Tiana Barry so sharp on the follow-up to make sure. Does well initially. Barry does and then Torres couldn't get his feet sorted. I think it's quite a tame effort from McNeil. Telegraphs that one. Martinez should catch it. He doesn't. He spills it but what about that from Barry. Sensational from him. Barry off temporally. Here's Mattson. Right across and Rodgers. Back off Tarkovsky. Here's Telemans. Now Buendia. Mattson pulls it back and Rodgers again sweeps one over. It's been the story of his day in front of goal. Well you think about the amount of chances he's had. Villa players complaining about possible penalty from Tarkovsky. His hands by his side though. That would be incredibly harsh but live in those situations. Just gamble. Would have played it short to Buendia. No guard coming in on it. Rodgers. Oh it's a magnificent save. Top draw save from Jordan Pickford. Oh what an effort as well. Brilliant football all around and Everton just being penned in at the moment. Grealish does enough and I mean that's finding the top corner. What a save that is from Pickford. Gets his feet going. That's the key. Big left hand. Corner is cleared to Cash. It's Komsar. Telemans. Komsar on the turn and it's come off Jake O'Brien for another Aston Villa corner. We're starting to really build a bit of momentum now Villa. Brent's way to think he's back training now which is good news for them. I think Tarkovsky formed a good partnership. Here's Dignia. Ahead to it. Kept in by Rodgers. Lovely cross from Dignia. O'Brien head on it. McNeil. Armstrong that the Aston Villa was none too impressed with. Frustration to a degree getting the better of him. Top three as Everton end Aston Villa's run of 11 straight wins here. Tierno Barry the hero.
