We have apps for social media, banking, tracking our health.
Heck, we even have apps that tell us
when to go to the bathroom during a movie.
I'm not kidding.
So it shouldn't come as any surprise
that we also have apps to help us
strengthen our relationships.
And that's exciting.
While technology can be used for some pretty weird
and sometimes unhelpful things,
using it responsibly to support our romantic relationships
just makes life better.
But like with all things, you have great options
and you have options that could send
your relationship in reverse.
Today, I wanna look at the top four couples apps
that could help your relationship this year.
Let's get into it.
Number one is LoveTrack.
LoveTrack is a 100% free, like actually free,
couples app that has literally everything
you could ever want in a couples app at no cost.
The three biggest features on LoveTrack
are the date night planner, the couples questions
and the anniversary reminders.
Now for date nights, the app has over 500
really unique date night ideas
that you can sort by going out or staying in
or active or relaxed to find the one
that best fits your mood.
Some of my favorites are the 90s throwback date,
the emoji scavenger hunt date, the time capsule date
and the build a banana split date.
The best part is you're not just getting ideas.
Every date night on LoveTrack is fully planned out
with step-by-step instructions, supplies lists,
expert guides, recipes, and it even has playlists
to accompany the date.
Additionally, LoveTrack shows you date night events
going on in your area so you never miss something cool
and it works anywhere in the country.
The second feature we wanna highlight,
the couples questions, has literally thousands of questions
to help you and your partner have better conversations.
Whether you're just looking to build a fun daily rhythm
or you wanna talk about something in particular,
LoveTrack's couples questions feature
is out of this world cool.
Now, the last feature we wanna highlight
is a simple one but a fan favorite.
You can put your important dates into the app
like your anniversary, your partner's birthday,
when you had your first kiss,
when you had your first date, et cetera,
and the app makes sure you never forget them.
It sends you reminders before the big days
with tips and ideas to celebrate
so you never forget the important date
and you never end up in trouble or sleeping on the couch.
Now, the LoveTrack app has a ton of other great features
like things to remember, random acts of romance,
and so many more that you're gonna love
and they can do wonders for your relationship.
Now, this app is also partnered
with some really neat organizations
like the University of Maryland,
Utah State University, Blue Star Families,
the largest nonprofit serving military
and veteran families, and so many more.
Again, the best part about LoveTrack,
it's free, like actual free, not free with a paid tier
which you'll learn is a trick
a lot of apps use in marketing.
It's not free with a ton of ads or anything like that.
It's just a straight up free resource
to help you make your relationship stronger.
If you wanna check out LoveTrack,
I put a link in the description box below
for you to go download it now.
Number two, Paired.
Paired is probably the most popular couples app
on the market.
According to their website, they have 4 million couples,
but according to their LinkedIn,
they have 12 million downloads,
but according to the app store,
that's 8 million downloads.
Not sure which is correct,
but regardless, it's a big number.
The app has quite a few accolades from the app stores
and the reviews are for the most part pretty positive.
Now, unlike the LoveTrack app,
Paired doesn't have all of the big features in one place
but chooses to focus mainly on couples questions.
The questions are sometimes organized
into one-off questions, sometimes in quiz format,
and sometimes broken down topically.
The pros of the app?
Well, the tech is very good.
The app is smooth and relatively bug-free.
The app has also been around for a while,
so it does give off established vibes,
which a lot of people will like.
The cons of the app?
Well, there are a few.
First, the app is heavily, heavily focused
on physical intimacy.
At times, it feels like the app thinks the fix
for everything is just doing weirder things in the bedroom,
which just doesn't feel like the right approach
to me personally.
Contrast this with the LoveTrack app,
it takes a more conversation-focused,
wholesome approach to communication,
and you'll start to see the differences.
When testing Paired, I had to make sure
I didn't leave my phone unattended
because some of the graphic questions they ask
show up as push notifications,
which would have made for some really awkward
and uncomfortable conversations
with anyone who saw my phone sitting out.
Now, the second drawback is that Paired is not a free app.
They do give you a seven-day free trial, which is nice,
but after that, you have to pay
if you want to do anything meaningful on the app.
Prices look to start at around $15 a month
or $75 if you pay for the whole year.
Compared with the $0 price tag of LoveTrack,
it's a noticeable difference.
Number three, Gottman Card Dex.
Built by the Gottman Institute,
a pretty well-known relationship center,
this app is another questions app
similar to what you get on LoveTrack and Paired.
The big difference here is that it's a way, way, way
stripped down, simplistic version of Couples Questions.
Instead of any interactive features,
you basically just get flashcards
separated into topics in digital form.
That's really all it is.
Now, if that's what you want
and you don't want any of the other bells and whistles,
you'll probably love this, but at least in our opinion,
it doesn't really leverage the power of technology
to do anything special as a couples app.
The app does do date night ideas,
but it's really nothing more than just an idea.
Here's what one looks like on Gottman
versus what one looks like on LoveTrack.
What's great about this app though,
is that like LoveTrack, but not like Paired,
it's also free.
It's clear the app was created
simply to be a resource to support couples.
And real quick,
before we get to our last couples app on the list,
if you're enjoying this content
and you wanna help support us
and help get this information out to help other couples,
if you could take two seconds
to hit the like and subscribe buttons,
it does so much to help us accomplish these goals
and means the world to us.
Thank you.
Let's get back to the list.
Lastly, number four, Love Nudge.
This couples app is built around the five love languages
as developed by Dr. Gary Chapman.
In fact, it's actually the official app
of the five love languages, which is pretty cool.
The app itself helps you learn about your love language
and your partners,
and then find ways to connect you based on those findings.
You have a love tank
and you send nudges and reminders to your partner
to do things and to set goals to help fill that tank up.
This couples app seems to have a lot of traction
with over a million downloads on Google Play.
Reviews are decent,
but not as high as the other apps on the list.
It looks like reading through some of the comments
that there may be some technical issues and bugs
with the app that people aren't entirely happy about.
Additionally, people share that it can be hard
to understand what you're supposed to do in the app.
Here's what the featured reviews
in the Google Play store say.
Tried to type a love letter,
but when I selected the category,
it erased and just sent the words love letter.
On top of that, it was a long letter
and in the middle of typing,
the keyboard would disappear over and over for no reason.
The send button and X on the left side
made it hard to read what I typed.
Not helpful when trying to send a message.
Another says, the app has very lackluster instructions.
The quiz part works.
I can see my and my partner's love language results,
but the goals don't seem to work at all.
I created a test goal.
My partner can't see it at all.
She created one.
I can't see it at all.
Can't delete the goals I created.
Never deletes.
The texting part of this app is okay,
but doesn't seem necessary.
Why can't it just send texts
through the messaging system of the phone itself?
No need to add yet another texting app.
And lastly, a more positive one
that still hints at issues with instructions says,
I'm a long time love languages reader and doer.
The app is a beautiful idea and I love it.
My husband could participate more,
but hey, even the app can't push a rope.
I'm still trying to figure out little details
like whether I'm supposed to start my love tank
over again each day.
I just joined the Facebook group,
which I discovered through the app.
Maybe I'll get more information participating there.
Good work developers.
Now for pricing, this app is technically free,
but does have in-app purchases,
though nothing too over the top.
And there you have it.
These are the top four couples apps
that we think you should look into
to help your relationship thrive this year.
Again, if you enjoyed this content
and you wanna help support us
and help get the information out to more couples,
please consider taking two seconds
to hit the like and subscribe buttons.
It really does so much to help us accomplish those goals
and it means the world to us.
Let us know in the comments if you try any of these
and if you like them.
