Hey, welcome to Online For Love, your resource for online dating by the numbers.
I'm Amy, your certified online dating expert, and today we're going to be talking about and
reviewing the OG dating website, eHarmony. And I'm going to answer the question,
is it worth it? eHarmony is the classic dating website that's now an app as well,
and it stands out from its competitors, the likes of Tinder, Bumble and the rest,
by offering a pretty unique experience. So let's just get into some of the facts about eHarmony.
Let's start with eHarmony's success rate. So 69% of men, of course it's 69, and 71% of women
actually found their perfect match within just one year of using eHarmony. I was so surprised
to hear this, and it actually makes me wonder about the success rate of the newer dating apps,
because we all know that people stay scrolling for years on some of those.
eHarmony creates up to 15 million matches per day, and what's really crazy is that 4% of the
marriages in the United States were created starting with eHarmony, which is just craziness.
That's about 438 marriages per day within the US, and 13,000 marriages per month,
and 150,000 marriages per year, about all through eHarmony. Keep in mind though,
the divorce rate is just below 4%. One of the major differences between eHarmony and the other
popular current dating apps is its price tag. So it's kind of impossible really to do much of
anything on eHarmony without paying for a premium account. You can't even see people's pictures
unless you pay for it. You can do a free trial, but that only lasts a few days.
So you have three options when you want to choose a premium account on eHarmony,
and all of them require some form of long-term commitment, ironically.
You can get their premium light plan that lasts for six months at $17.90 a month. Alternatively,
you can get their premium plus plan that lasts for 12 months at $11.90 a month. And this one's
interesting because if you choose this plan, and if you sign up for it within a little over a day
of signing up for the website itself, then you can get your first month 50% off. That only applies
to the premium plus plan though. The last premium plan that eHarmony offers is their premium extra
plan. The premium extra plan lasts the longest, 24 months at $7.90 a month. This is honestly a
great deal if you plan to use the site long-term, if you want to meet a lot of people, go on varied
dates, or you just want to take your time finding the person you want to love. It's the cheapest
out of the others per month. So if you're serious about dating, maybe this would be a good option
for you. To find out the most up-to-date pricing, you should definitely check out the article linked
below on the Online For Love website that has the most up-to-date information. It's always being
updated. It's so helpful. So what do these three premium memberships on eHarmony actually offer
you? Well between the three, there's actually no differences. They offer the same exact thing for
each premium plan that you would choose, the only difference being the amount of time that you would
have the plan for. As little as six months, up to a year. So these are the things that you get when
you become a premium member for eHarmony. You can view an unlimited amount of photos from all your
potential dates, you have unlimited messaging, you can see who's viewed you, you can do distance
search, and you get your own detailed personality profile. Unlike some other dating apps and websites,
I think that in order to get the full potential out of eHarmony, you kind of do have to pay for
premium membership. I'm not sure that it's worth it otherwise, but it can be totally worth it,
especially if you're a specific type of person or looking for specific things that we're going to
get into later in the video. Before we continue though, I just want to give you a quick reminder
to thumbs up this video if you're enjoying it and hit the subscribe button and ring the bell
if you want to see more content from us. Another thing that really sets eHarmony apart from the
rest of the dating apps and everything is their super user-friendly app and website. They're both
so easy to navigate and eHarmony is a behemoth of a company, of an internet dating website. I mean,
they've been around for so long and they were also first around as a website before they ever
introduced their app, which actually really helps them because now it's like so seamless and easy
and user-friendly. Just the fact that they even have a website and an app is a huge advantage
because most dating apps are just that, they're just apps and that's it. But eHarmony makes it
really easy to find love on any platform that you prefer. It's really easy to scroll through your
matches, set up your profile, chat to people on your phone, on your iPad, on your laptop, wherever.
That's something I really appreciate about the website and app of eHarmony. It takes the adjustment
period out of online dating when it comes to learning how to use the online dating apps and
websites. It just makes it that much easier and one less thing you have to worry about
when dating online. Of course, with any app or anything on the internet at all, there can be
glitches and I actually encountered one. Let me know if this has happened to you too, but actually
when I went to sign up for my premium membership on my app, on my phone, when I went to sign up for
it, it was way more expensive for some reason than it was on the website on the computer. Instead
of being $7.90 per month up to $17.90 a month, which is the price on the computer, on the app,
the price was from $20.83 a month up to $41.66 a month. That's what it was showing me on my app.
I have no idea why it's so much more expensive on the phone. So this just seems to be a bug,
but just be careful when you're signing up and make sure to maybe do it on the website instead
of the app, just in case. So now let's talk about the type of people that you're going to meet and
see when on eHarmony. So eHarmony is definitely geared more towards maybe a slightly older but
more serious crowd who's really looking for a long-term relationship. They're looking for
something serious. I already mentioned earlier how many matches and marriages and relationships
were started through eHarmony, and there's a reason why so many people go to this site
and have success with it. eHarmony has a comprehensive, unique matching system that
their creators spent years developing, testing, and perfecting. Again, this is one of the biggest
and most successful dating website out there, and they've had plenty of time to perfect what
they're doing. I mean, I can't be the only one who remembers those eHarmony commercials. They
probably still play them, but I have vivid memory of sitting on the couch, like eating pretzels,
and then an eHarmony commercial would come on, and they'd always play that song by Natalie Cole on
This Will Be An Everlasting Love, and I was just so happy. So the point being that they've been
around for so long, and they know what they're doing. People on eHarmony are looking for the
real deal. The site isn't really used as a hookup app, and people in there put a lot of thought into
their messages, into their profiles, into what they're actually looking for in general. They're
that eHarmony is a really safe bet on finding them love. When you sign up for eHarmony, you go
through so many questions about your personality, your values, your tastes, and general info about
you. It actually takes quite a while to sign up for eHarmony, because there's so many questionnaires
that they have for you. This is all totally worth it though, because after you've answered all the
detailed questions, eHarmony actually compiles your data and presents you with your very own
The personality profile that you get from eHarmony analyzes the fundamentals of your personality,
how you behave in a relationship, your everyday life, and your style of communication. You even
get a little summary of all your traits and the kind of person you are. It's actually super
interesting and really helpful to see how your mind works and what your dating style is. Using
this data, along with answers to questions that you can choose to answer further if you want to,
that allows eHarmony to match you with someone who's really compatible with you as a person.
You can also actually change your preferences for your matches, so you can look for people
who are within a specific age range or who are specific height, whether or not they smoke,
have kids, want kids. You can even search based on religion, ethnicity, income, and education,
which really, I mean, if these things are important to you, any of them, and you're
looking for somebody with those specific attributes, then this just saves your time
and other people's time because it just eliminates people who aren't going to fit you anyway.
Unlike a dating app like Tinder, for example, that's based almost entirely on looks,
eHarmony is really more about deeper connections and finding people who fit your personality and
lifestyle, which is why you often find that people who use eHarmony in sites like it end up in long
term relationships more often. So to wrap this all up, let's quickly go over all the pros and cons
of eHarmony, starting with the cons and then countering with the pros. The first con is that
it's expensive. You just can't get around that. I mean, so many other apps are free or you get some
features at least with them, but I feel like personally, eHarmony is almost kind of useless
unless you pay for premium. So you are going to pay to find your love. However, the pro for this
is that yes, even though you're going to be spending money, you can be more sure with eHarmony maybe
than most other dating sites that you're going to eventually find what you're looking for.
eHarmony works. It has a fantastic success rate and the type of people on there, the user interface,
interface, user interface, the algorithms, everything. It's just developed in a way that's
kind of unrivaled for finding long term committed relationships. So most likely you will find what
you're looking for, even though you have to pay for it. The second con is that admittedly, it does
take forever to sign up for eHarmony. And I feel like this probably puts a good amount of people
off from ever even finishing signing up just because it's taking so long and it's so tedious.
The pro to this is that by requiring everybody to go through all these questions, you're actually
making people think deeper about what they want. And I think that ultimately helps out everybody
on the site once, you know, you've kind of already sorted through these questions that maybe you
wouldn't have even thought about otherwise. I mean, you're thinking critically about some lifestyle
choices and what you're looking for and what you want and don't want from people. And I think it
puts you on a good page when you're starting out on a dating website like this. If you forego these
questions or make them optional, so many people just won't do them. And it just makes it harder
for people to find the perfect match. Thirdly, there is that weird bug that makes it so it's
way more expensive on the app than it is on the website. So that's something weird, but it's
impossible to not have bugs when you're dealing with apps and websites. I mean, it happens. I
don't have a pro to counter it, besides they're usually pretty quick about sorting out their bugs.
So the question remains, is eHarmony worth it? Well, yeah. If you're looking for a long-term
committed relationship with somebody serious, then this is really the website for you. It's not
perfect and you'll have to pay if they are happily ever after, but there's a good chance that you'll
get it. The great thing is Online For Love actually has all this information about eHarmony in article

more cons, more personal experiences, and more parts to eHarmony that I'm not even covering right now.
What do you think? Do you think it's worth paying a premium membership for a dating app when so many
of them you don't have to pay anything to get a really good experience? Do you think that eHarmony
is dated and it should stay in the past or maybe it's an oldie but a goodie? I'm kind of leaning
towards that one. We should definitely hash it out in the comments below. Thank you so much for
