A Lost World Along the Lychee Ancient Trail, Sichuan China
Tucked deep in the mountains of eastern Sichuan, a quiet village sits along the Lychee Ancient Trail — a route that once carried traders, travelers, and stories between the mountains and the plains.
Following this forgotten path, I walk past old houses and scattered relics. Hidden in the dense forest are century-old tombs, crafted with remarkable detail and placed right where people once passed by every day.
These tombs weren’t hidden away. They were meant to be seen.
They reflect a way of thinking about death, memory, and legacy that’s slowly fading from the modern world.
The trail is no longer used.
The village has grown quiet.
But traces of that past are still here.
In this episode, I follow the Lychee Ancient Trail to see what remains — and to catch a last glimpse of how people here once imagined the afterlife.
