This is a brand new, incredibly simple method! The best poppy seed bread! Simple recipe.
The golden-brown, feather-light yeast bread releases an alluring aroma from the very first bite.
The soft crust melts in your mouth, enveloping a rich, smooth poppy seed filling with a rich nutty aroma. The delicate scent of fresh orange peel brings an elegant freshness, while roasted walnuts provide a delicious crunch and warm, autumnal depth.
Baking fills the kitchen with a sweet, cozy aroma, reminiscent of homemade pastries and quiet afternoons. Each bite is harmonious, balanced, and delightful – perfect with a cup of coffee or tea, to share with family and friends, or simply to enjoy a special moment.
Recipe:
500-550 g flour (4 cups)
2 tablespoons sugar (2 tablespoons)
20 g fresh yeast (1 oz)
250 ml warm milk (1 cup)
1 whole egg + 1 egg yolk
80 g butter (2 4/5 ounces)
5-6 g salt (1/2 teaspoon)
Filling:
Orange zest
200 g ground poppy seeds (1⅓ cup + 2 tablespoons)
100 g walnuts (¾ cup)
100 g sugar (½ cup)
100 ml milk (⅓ cup + 1 tablespoon)
Knead the dough and let it rest for 60 minutes.
Shape the bread rolls as shown in the video tutorial. Brush with the egg and milk mixture.
Bake at 180°C (356°F) for 35–40 minutes.
