Most Remote Beach Cleanup, in the Marshall Islan

We are in the middle of the Pacific on a tiny atoll in the Marshall Islands and we've just
picked up the trash here. Just a few hours of work and this is what we got.
It's such a beautiful pristine place as long as you don't look too close.
Unfortunately if you look close it is just strewn in trash. It's just everywhere. We spend a day
about eight hours collecting trash. There's more, plenty more. I've been sailing in the Pacific for
about 12 years and I'm sad to say this is by no means a unique situation here. It's pretty much
the norm. All the islands are covered in trash and walking around picking up the trash is a very,
very depressing activity because half the things you touch crumble away in tiny little pieces
half the things are buried under sand or bushes that you can't really get into without you know
causing other damage and this trash is only a portion of the actual trash that ends up floating
in the ocean. What you see here is mostly bottles, flip-flops, some styrofoam, some fishing buoys.
That's a great majority because those things float very well and very far on the surface. All the rest
of the trash probably sank or got eaten or whatever happened to it on the way. We have a
you know fashion shoe, very stylish and we got a lovely brush. Only the bristles are probably in
the stomach of some fish by now. Same here with this little gorgeous harmless looking toothbrush.
Where are all the bristles? This is a you know a little child's flip-flop.
Most of them are adult sizes here on the pile but this looks kind of cute.
