Fall in British Columbia is notoriously wet.
That's gonna be fun. This is exciting. Oh my goodness.
We've just had our first atmospheric river event of the season and the trails are flooded and washed
out. All that means for us is we're going out to play and things are going to be more fun than usual.
This is the story till now.
All right we just got to the trailhead. It is not raining at the moment but it's been raining
pretty heavily for the last couple of days. Just stopped long enough for us to air down which is
nice but we expect it to be pretty wet out here so we're going to hit some trails. They're probably
going to be kind of flooded. We'll see what happens. Should be good. Got to air down for
rain traction. Yeah. What psi do you do for rain? Uh really low. Yeah. Zero. It has to be zero.
What do you think we're going to get into today Teddy? There's a chance of anything. We got chance
of snow. Potatoes. Potatoes.
All right we are off. It's going to be interesting out here. Just started raining again.
It's going to be wet. We've hit maybe the end of the trail. I'm not sure if this is a trail
or a creek. We're going to walk it and find out. Map shows a road. I think this is a creek.
Yep. There's something majestic about driving through the rainforest after a storm in the fall.
Whole trail's flooded out. That's going to be fun. This is exciting. Oh my goodness. Look at it.
So we've got the whole trail out here flooded out like a river.
You got to cross here and then head down there. It's going to be fun. Some of the mud holes through
here are deep even when it doesn't rain and today they were even deeper. With all the rain we figured
the lake would be a bit high as we'd hope to get out onto the flats to what we call no man's land
but we were surprised to find that it was flooded back this far. Take this trail back up to connect
up to the main. A lot of you guys asked what mapper I'm using up here on my tablet and you can
save 20% on an elite membership. Use the link down below in the description which helps support the
channel and you get a cool mapping app. It's win-win. Check it out. So we just came to this
cross stitch and I stopped to check it out because there's a forward explorer here that's
buried itself and been abandoned. There's spots on the left here but it's very very soft. Like I
stepped on it and I sunk up to my knee. My whole foot's soaked and my boot's full of water so that's
awesome. But yeah I mean Teddy can always pull me out if I get stuck so I'm going to give it a try
or there's uh kind of some trees up here. It's not not really a great anchor point is there?
I mean you could always go back and around and pull me from the front
in a pinch. I wish we could pull this guy out for him but I don't want to break his truck.
Immediately got myself stuck. Yeah there's a little bit of a hole.
Your front bumper is just digging into the ground.
I can't get my remote. Oh ----. Too much muscle.
All right well we got through that washout or cross stitch I guess. I don't know why they dug
a cross stitch there. It's kind of stupid. The soft the dirt was just so soft but we got through
it. Teddy's through it. We can't really do anything to help the Ford Explorer because
this truck's locked and I don't want to drag it when it's in park so
unfortunately we can't help since there's no one here but good luck to you sir.
All right we stopped in at this lake to have a little lunch break and
chill for a bit. It's been an eventful morning so far. Good morning so far. I guess it's afternoon
now huh? Yeah. Yeah we got the shelter here so I think I'm gonna make some coffee. Some hot coffee
would be super good right about now. I could use a coffee. You use a coffee? So this week I brought
with me my Bluetti Elite 30. This is a 600 watt and 288 watt hour power station. It's perfect
size to bring along just to give my drone a little charge up mid-trip while we stop for lunch.
The Elite 30 v2 is only 60 dbs so it's super whisper quiet when it's running you can't even
hear it which is nice when you're camping out here in nature. It's also only 9.48 pounds making
it super light. It's compact, small, easy to pack up. Don't have to worry about that weight in your
vehicle. Plus you can charge it from zero to 80 percent in just 45 minutes. Super quick and very
handy. Now this particular little guy is good for up to 3,000 charge cycles so it'll last a long time.
It's got high power usb outputs and your ac as well for charging up any of your devices. Perfect
for me for charging up some batteries on the go. Are they having any sales for Black Friday? They
are in fact having Black Friday sales on right now so check them out at the link in the description.
We decided to head up to a waterfall and this trail requires a few creek crossings.
The water was flowing pretty heavily. Look at that water. The creek's flowing like
crazy. Some of those spots coming up the trail was it got a little deep. I've never been up here that
deep before but it looks cool. Look at this. That's cool. It is cool. You can go for a fish.
It's just funneling through there like crazy. It's been raining. We're on the tail end of a
little atmospheric river so I didn't check the forecast for tomorrow did you?
Uh no but it's supposed to be pouring rain right now. Yeah there's a blue sky.
Crazy. Raging. Don't slip and fall in there. Yeah watch this guy. Nature is just nuts.
Water rushing through here. It's a lot. Looks like there's no beach. So we've arrived at the lake
we were planning to camp. The water level's so high that there's no beach. So there's nowhere for
us to park to camp. That is a problem. See what I mean? This isn't gonna work. It's not gonna work.
Unless we park in the water and then we put ladders to our rooftop tents. No. That's a
horrible idea. It's a terrible idea. I've never seen the water here this high. It's the first time.
It's an atmospheric river. Yeah it must be. Making everything wetter. Well. Well. Well well well.
Well well well. Well I guess we should get out of here while it's still light out. Yeah. And go find
somewhere else to camp. We gotta find a camp now. All right our plan is we're gonna head back to one of the other
lakes we stopped at earlier because there's a shelter there and we'll set up camp there and
we can have fire because this isn't gonna work. As we made our way back to the lake the heavy rain
had returned. Made it back to the shelter. Got a little fire going. The rain has stopped for now
but if it doesn't we've got shelter which is nice. So things are looking up. Feeling optimistic about
this situation? Absolutely. Yeah. The moon was out. Did you see that? Yeah. Like that's a good sign.
That's a good sign.
Good morning everybody. Bit of a cold overcast morning here this morning. Some light rain.
It's pretty cold. Slept great last night though. Fresh air. Love it out here. Teddy's drone took a
dip into uh what was it a river? A river. Where were we when that happened? I can't remember. It was the road but it was
completely flooded. Right. The funny thing is is once it was gone I started backing up and if it
wasn't for the lights on the drone I would have never found it because it was going down the river
under the water. I saw it. I stopped the truck. I like rolled like this. I jumped into the water.
Grabbed it. And it still works. It still works. I gave it some CPR. Yeah. Mouth to mouth? Yeah.
Some mouth to lens and it's still it's it's almost working. Almost. Yeah. She'll fly again
maybe. Oh yeah. I think so. Did you sleep good? I slept really well. Me too. Yeah. That storm finally
came. It finally rained. Yeah. It didn't seem like it rained that much though. No. I don't know. I was out
pretty quick. Yeah. After a very wet 24 hours we started making our way back out of the trail system
and back towards home. These kind of weekends where we're battling the weather are always a
lot of fun and I'm sure there'll be more to come over the next few months. This is the story till now.
