The Ultimate New Zealand Road Trip | A Cinematic South Island Travel Film

New Zealand truly is the adventurous creative’s dream. The South Island is a land we can't keep away from, but always feels new and unexplored. We took on this landscape in early winter, spanning 16 days across late May and early June. This trip delivered on everything we could have hoped for.
Renting the iconic Land Rover Defender from The Wild Rovers, we embarked on an epic overlanding journey through some of Aotearoa’s most raw and dramatic terrain. Beyond the rugged alpine passes, glacial lakes, and sub-zero camps, we set out to explore the real world Middle Earth, hunting down iconic Lord of the Rings filming locations scattered about the valleys and mountains. Through it all, we battled all manner of weather with smiles on our faces.
Join us as we hike, camp, drive off grid, and experience the best of New Zealand’s South Island.
