Matejko - Art As a Weapon: Painter Who Kept Poland Alive.
1-st Prize Winner at the Festiwal Polonijny "Losy Polaków" 2022, Warsaw, Poland.
Amazing paintings by a Polish genius Jan Matejko at the time when Poland did not exist because was under occupation by three imperial powers: Russia, Germany and Austria (1795-1918). His paintings awakened the Polish spirit and the desire for freedom. Matejko's paintings were awarded in Paris, Vienna and exhibited in Rome and other European capitals.
Among his admirers was Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I. His most well-known paintings are: Rejtan-Fall of Poland, the Prussian Homage, the Constitution of 3 May 1791, the Battle of Grunwald and Sermon of Skarga.
His workshop museum in Kraków is now open to visitors.
