Jan Matejko and his art

The Pilsudski Institute of America presents a short movie about Jan Matejko. Matejko is considered a national painter of Poland, the founder of the national school of historical painting. Matejko is known for depicting the most famous moments from history of Poland and his artwork includes: gallery of Polish kings, Battle of Grunwald, Stanczyk, Union of Lublin, Prussian Homage. The Pilsudski Institute of America in its collection possesses a sketch by Jan Matejko "Carriage with horseman".
