Taylor Momsen on reuniting with Jim Carrey at the Rck & Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after filming "How The Grinch Stoles Christmas"
What was it like merging two of those things the other night at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
induction ceremony? It was an emotional night. It was an incredibly emotional night.
A wonderful evening. I'm, first of all, I don't know if you guys know, but I love Soundgarden.
I don't know if you've heard this about me. So to be there with them and to help them celebrate
and I'm so honored and thankful and so prideful for them. Like I am so proud of them and so
happy for them that I cannot even put it into words. So it's just the whole evening was
insane and emotional and, you know, the weight of it was certainly not lost on me at all.
So there's this kind of contradicting feeling always. But it was beautiful and it's so well
deserved. And then the fact that Jim Carrey is the one that, you know, inducted them.
When Matt Cameron told me that a couple weeks ago and I think my head almost flew off my body. Like
I couldn't believe what he was telling me because what are the odds of that? I haven't seen Jim in
25 years. It's right as we're putting out this Christmas record. His favorite band is
Soundgarden. So that was really all the universe. It's all the universe. My favorite band is
Soundgarden. Like what just happened? What do you and Jim talk about? And what is it like to see him
after? It was great. It was so great. I thought that, you know, I knew he was coming. So you
think about all the things like, what are you going to say? And how's it going to be? And
I overanalyze everything before it's happened. And then after a minute, a minute. But
it was unexpectedly, it felt like coming home or something like it. Even though I was so young when
we did Grinch, it felt like family. When I hugged him, I was like, I know you. I spent two years of
my life with you. I know this man really well. And it felt familiar and warm and comfortable
and just beautiful. It was just the strangest thing. It felt like seeing a family member you
haven't seen in a long time. But like, in one way, no time had passed. It was very strange and
amazing. That's really beautiful. Yeah, it's great. That's really special. Really, really warm.
Like it's phenomenal. You know, you did before you came in, you reposted something that said
Soundgarden with Taylor Momsen, book the tour. That was rock feed, right? Yeah. That's something
you would ever consider. I think that they are a force unto themselves. It is unlike anyone else.
They're some of my closest friends. I love them to death. And the reality is I'm here
for anything they want or need. If they call me, I'm there. It's that simple.
