Visiting exhibitions before the auction is part of my routine, but I always look forward to this
house. There's something special about the way they create their antique displays.
Each one tells a story, each piece finds its voice. Today I want to share the magic with you
and show you the unique lots that make this exhibition so inspiring. In this corner of
the exhibition time seems to stand still, a breathtaking arrangement of the 19th century
elegance. As I wandered through the exhibition this corner instantly caught my eye. A scene of
pure royal elegance, two majestic portraits, golden frames and antique treasures everywhere.
It felt like stepping into a royal saloon from another century, a place where history, art
and beauty come alive once again. This beautiful created antique display features a pair of royal
portraits surrounded by an exquisite 19th century furniture and decorative pieces,
a highlight of this auction exhibition. Before us stand two magnificent oil portraits capturing the
coronation of the King Leopold II and the Queen Mary Henriquette of Habsburg-Lorraine,
painted with exquisite detail and emotion. These works, signed and dated 1866, embody the
majesty and grace of Belgium's royal legacy. The golden frames, the rich textures, the majestic
gaze of history, all come together in a timeless tribute to power, beauty and tradition. A rare
glimpse into the splendor of the 19th century, right here at the auction exhibition. Standing
on each side of the royal portraits are two majestic cast iron urns, their dark patina
giving them a timeless sculptural beauty. These grand vases, inspired by classical design,
were likely meant to adorn a garden or the entrance of a grand estate. Their solid form
and elegant proportions bring a sense of balance and dignity to the entire display,
blending strength, heart and history in perfect harmony. At the heart of this display stands a
magnificent gilded console and mirror set, a masterpiece of the 19th century craftsmanship.
The ornate carvings, floral motifs and rich gold finish reflect the elegance of the Louis XVI style,
refined yet full of character. On its marble top, a pair of bronze candelabras and a French
mantelblock complete the composition, creating perfect harmony between art and function. Framed
by two delicate chairs in red velvet, this ensemble captures the true spirit
of royal sophistication and timeless design.
