Selena Gomez laughs off a fan question about her mustache grooming routine, insisting she 'gets it' but it's actually melasma. It's a skin condition that can cause brown or blue-gray patches on areas of the face, including the upper lip, and sometimes the neck, back and arms.
Someone made me laugh because they asked me, they're like, how do you like shave
your mustache? And I was like, I totally get it.
Selena Gomez never afraid to spill her beauty secrets, even when the question is
slightly off base. I actually have melasma, you guys, and a pit bull. I think
that for me, I'm really big on vulnerability. Yeah, that was the theme of
Selena's Instagram Q&A, answering fan beauty questions, including one about the
grooming routine for her supposed mustache, which had Selena giggling and
answering in stride. They're like, how do you like shave your mustache? And I was
like, I totally get it. I actually have melasma, you guys, and a pit bull. It's
my melasma. I take care of and treat it, but yeah, no, it's there. That's me.

It was good for me to see how I was responding to my body, the way I was
acting, and the way it was so irrational at moments. And I think it was really
for me to see that and get it out. Selena always wearing her heart on her
sleeve and sharing how she feels most beautiful from the inside out. I just
wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for
exactly what they're going through, and nobody knows the real story. So I would
much rather be healthy and take care of myself, and my medications are
important, and I believe they are what helps me. So yeah. I'm constantly somebody
that likes to grow and feel like, all right, what could I be better at? What
could I do better at? Where could my confidence be stronger? And it's
important just to remain positive. And I don't know, I'm at that age where I
feel like that's what matters, is making sure I'm healthy and people are happy
that I love.
