Corten Steel Meets Nature | A Compact House Designed for the Seasons
This 128m² two-level house is a thoughtful exploration of space, materiality, and environmental integration. Designed to maximize interior fluidity while enhancing the surrounding landscape, the ground floor seamlessly connects living, dining, kitchen, study, and bedrooms to the outdoors through a generous porch and terrace platform—blurring the boundary between architecture and garden.
The upper floor is conceived as a private retreat, where the master bedroom opens onto a large terrace oriented toward the mountain view, offering calm and seclusion. Materiality plays a central role in the project: Corten steel and heat-treated wood define the façades and lattices, creating a strong yet natural expression that harmonizes with the earthy tones of the site and contrasts delicately with the surrounding olive trees.
Built from four prefabricated modules assembled in just ten days, the house demonstrates the efficiency and precision of modular construction. Sustainability is integral to the design, with underfloor heating and cooling, aerothermal energy systems, rooftop solar panels, and ceramic flooring that enhances thermal inertia—resulting in near-zero energy consumption.
Externally, the architecture is bold and expressive; internally, it offers a serene, protected, and open atmosphere—an ideal setting to experience the changing seasons in harmony with nature.
