BAD NEWS! Russia is in Biggest Trouble Ever after Launch Pad Damage! SpaceX to Help…
Major shifts are unfolding across the global space industry. Russia faces a serious setback after a key launch pad was damaged, prompting familiar questions about whether SpaceX will again provide critical support.
Meanwhile, China is preparing a major mission using a new reusable rocket, advancing its push for rapid, cost-efficient launches. South Korea has also achieved a successful mission on a domestically built rocket, strengthening its role in the global space community.
These events set the tone for an active day in orbital news. Let us explore the details in today’s episode of Great SpaceX.
BAD NEWS! Russia is in Biggest Trouble Ever after Launch Pad Damage! SpaceX to Help…
Russia has found itself at the center of global attention after launching a new crewed mission to the International Space Station. The mission, known as MS-28, lifted off at 4:27 a.m. EST, which was 2:27 p.m. local time at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. As is standard for Soyuz crew rotations, the spacecraft carried two Russian cosmonauts along with one astronaut from the United States. The ascent itself went smoothly and the spacecraft successfully entered its planned trajectory toward the ISS. However, the success of the mission was overshadowed by a serious and unexpected failure on the ground.

Shortly after the launch, reports emerged that launch pad 31, one of the primary pads used for Soyuz missions, had suffered catastrophic damage. The support tower collapsed, and early footage suggested that the structure was struck by a powerful wave of exhaust from the first stage engines. Even more concerning was evidence that the launch platform beneath the rocket had also failed. The maintenance cabin, which sits beneath the deck through which the rocket rises, appeared to have been completely destroyed.
Before liftoff, this area looked like a clean and organized workspace, designed to give technicians direct access to the rocket during pre-launch procedures. After the launch, what remained looked nothing like the robust structure it had been. The cabin seemed to have been torn apart and blown into a nearby trench. It was reduced to shattered debris, scattered across the pad with almost nothing recognizable left intact.
