Welcome to today's video. Today we are excited to explore
one of the most popular superfoods in the world right now,
chia seeds. Though small in size, chia seeds are packed with incredible
nutritional value and health benefits. Join us as we dive deep into the
process of harvesting and processing chia seeds
as well as the many health benefits they offer.
Let's get started right away. The chia seeds come from the Salvia
Hispanica plant, which is a member of the mint family and native to Central
America. If you're thinking about growing your
own chia plants, the process is relatively simple but
requires some preparation and patience.
To grow chia seeds you should prepare the soil in early autumn.
This plant thrives in well-drained soil and plenty of sunlight.
Loosen the soil, remove weeds, evenly spread the chia seeds on the
surface, and cover lightly with a thin layer of
soil.
Water gently and consistently until the seeds sprout in about one to two weeks,
keeping the soil moist but not overly wet.
Once the plants grow, you can reduce watering since chia is
drought tolerant. Chia grows well in warm conditions with full sunlight and good
drainage, making it ideal for home gardens in temperate climates where
it's easy to care for and harvest.
When chia plants grow to a height of approximately one to 1.2 meters,
they enter the flowering stage, which typically occurs from
mid to late summer. This stage is one of the most beautiful moments in the chia
growing process.
And the plants produce clusters of small, delicate flowers
ranging in color from blue to lavender, creating a breathtaking display in your
garden.
These flowers are not only visually stunning but also attract a variety of
pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds.
The presence of these pollinators is essential for successful chia seed
development as they facilitate the pollination of the flowers.
After pollination, the flower heads dry out
and tiny chia seeds gradually begin to form inside the seed pods.
Harvesting chia seeds is a rewarding experience.
The key is to wait until the flowers have completely dried out
and the seed pods are ready for collection.
You'll know the seeds are ready when the once vibrant lavender flowers have
turned a brownish color and the pods feel dry to the touch.
And for small-scale gardeners, the process of harvesting chia seeds can be
done by hand. Gently clip the seed heads from the
plants and place them in a paper bag to finish drying if necessary.
Once fully dry, you can gently rub the seed heads between your hands to release
the chia seeds. It's important to separate the seeds
from the chaff, which can be done using a fine mesh
sieve or by gently blowing away the lighter plant material in a breeze.
If you're growing chia on a larger scale, the process becomes more mechanical.
Farmers use specialized harvesting equipment to collect
chia seeds in bulk. These machines carefully cut the plants and thresh them
to separate the seeds from the plant material.
While the machinery does most of the heavy lifting, the principles remain the
same, waiting for the plant to fully mature and
dry before collecting the precious seeds.
After cleaning, the seeds are sorted by size and quality.
Chia seeds come in two primary varieties, black and white.
Although both types are nutritionally similar, some markets prefer one over the
other, and thus the seeds are often sorted
accordingly. During this stage, any damaged or
underdeveloped seeds are removed, ensuring that only the highest quality
chia seeds make it to the next step.
Once the seeds are sorted and cleaned, they are packaged and prepared for
shipping. Chia seeds are often sold in airtight
packaging to preserve their freshness. Because chia seeds have a long shelf
life, they can be stored for extended periods without losing their nutritional
value, making them a staple in health-conscious
kitchens worldwide. Chia seeds are then distributed across
the world, reaching consumers in various forms such as whole seeds,
chia seed powder, or being added to different products like energy bars,
smoothies, and even skincare items.
Chia seeds are also widely used in healthy recipes, daily meals, and diet
plans of many people globally. And that concludes the fascinating
journey of chia seeds, from planting and flowering to harvesting
and processing. We hope this video has provided you with
valuable insights about chia seeds and that you feel inspired to try growing
them or incorporating them into your diet.

Welcome to our channel! Today we invite you to journey with us to
the beautiful region of Zagala, Iran, where we'll explore
Lowe Farm and Distillery, a place where radiant
rose fields are carefully harvested and distilled into precious rose oil and
rose water. Let's follow the process of
transforming these vibrant blooms into high quality products
and feel the heartfelt dedication that farmers infuse into every fragrant drop.
This farm proudly cultivates 650,000 rose bushes
spread across expansive fields, blessed by nature with an exceptional climate,
gentle winters, and sunlit vibrant springs.
These favorable weather conditions create an ideal environment for
the Queen of Roses to thrive and flourish,
producing an impressive yield of up to 700 tons of fresh blossoms
annually. The rose harvest begins in the first quiet moments of dawn.
As the initial rays of sunlight start to emerge, a dedicated team of harvesters
arrives at the field, prepared for work by 6 a.m.
These seasoned workers bring years of experience and understand the perfect
harvesting time when dew still glistens on the petals,
enabling the essential oil to reach its utmost purity.
Each rose is gently twisted and precisely plucked to keep the stem
intact, carefully avoiding harm to the surrounding
delicate buds. This task requires both agility and
extraordinary finesse, taking about 3-4 hours before the
stronger sunlight starts to diminish the flower's natural fragrance.
After picking, the roses are meticulously placed in soft woven baskets ready for
the distillation process that begins immediately after harvest.
Time is a crucial factor in the production process.
Within just four or five minutes after being picked, the roses are swiftly
transported to the distillation facility located on the farm grounds.
This speed plays a key role in preserving the valuable aromatic
compounds. The flowers are then carefully sorted
and placed into specialized bags, prepared for the next stage of
processing. A standout product from roses is rose
essential oil. This oil can range from several to
tens of U.S. dollars, depending on the brand and product quality.
So what makes rose essential oil so expensive?
Join us as we explore the reasons behind its high
value. So the steam distillation method is a commonly used process
in the rose essential oil extraction industry due to its ability to retain
the flower's natural fragrance and unique characteristics.
The process begins by placing fresh rose petals into the distillation pot,
where a steam system passes through the petals, dissolving and separating the
essential oil from other natural components.
This method not only preserves the pure aroma of the roses,
but also helps retain the valuable nutrients contained within rose
essential oil. Next, the steam carrying the essential
oil is directed through a coiled cooling system
to condense into a liquid form. Here, the steam containing the essential
oil condenses into a liquid composed of two
main parts, rose water and rose essential oil.
The condensation system is designed to efficiently transform vapor into liquid,
maximizing the amount of essential oil collected,
while preserving the flower's distinct fragrance.
In the final step, rose essential oil is separated from the water
due to its insolubility. As the liquid condenses into the container,
the layer of essential oil rises to the surface and is carefully extracted to
obtain pure rose essential oil.
This process requires meticulous attention and precise technique to
ensure the oil is of high quality and retains the
flower's distinctive fragrance. The finished rose oil is bottled in a
sterile environment to prevent contamination and protect its quality.
Each bottle is tightly sealed to avoid air exposure, reducing oxidation and
preserving the essence and potency of the product.
In addition, rose essential oil is also used in various other personal care
products, such as bath gels and soaps, enhancing
the user's experience with relaxation and providing a perfect touch for
skincare. Rose essential oil is a precious oil in
health and beauty care with a gentle fragrance that promotes
relaxation, reduces stress and alleviates anxiety.
In beauty care, this oil hydrates, smooths the skin, enhances skin radiance
and reduces signs of aging thanks to its antioxidant properties.
Additionally, rose essential oil supports aromatherapy, aiding in relaxation,
improving sleep and is often used in hair care to nourish,
soften and prevent dryness. And so we have journeyed together from
delicate rose petals through the intricate distillation process
to create precious drops of rose essential oil.
Through this video, we hope you've not only appreciated the beauty of roses but
also gained a deeper understanding of the invaluable role of rose essential
oil in daily life. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe
