Hello everyone, today is going to be epic because I just got messaged that my new
Canyon has been dropped off at the local post office and it's ready for collection. Let's get it.
Here it is, fresh bike. Let's blast that and get this build underway.
No. After a few struggles there, which we won't tell Canyon about, we have made it home
and this is the unboxing of this brand new bike that they have sent me because you guys kept
asking for it in the comments. This is my new Canyon Sender. Let's get this thing built up
and we can shred the gnar today on this epic downhill bike. Let's get this clamped in my
little bike stand. Unveiling. Oh my God, look at the dreams that are about to be becoming a reality.
That is next level. Oh my God. Wow, that's well steezy that thing there. Halo have sent some
brand new wheels as well. We're going to leave the bike like that for now. We'll get these
Goodyear Newtons magicked on, then we can get it fully built. Today we're going to have a first
little mini test a bit later on, but let's have a see what wheels they've sent then.
Fresh Halo Gravitas wheels. They are going to fire on there. Let's magic the tyres on then.
So I'm going to put on some Goodyear Newtons and we're going to do it in the good magic style.
Here we go. Oh yes, that is actually the best thing ever. So much easier that magic. Oh look,
it's done it in here as well. Front wheel is also magicked on. Sick. We can get them straight on
Let's get this rear wheel on first then. Now it's time to slot this back wheel in.
Actually so, so glovish that is, isn't it? It's now time for the handlebars to go on.
That's another super glovish fit. Boom, bars on. Front wheel time. Oh that is pure glove, isn't it?
Yeah, dreamy. We now just need to put some air in these front forks. I mean there is that debate,
do you call them forks or a fork? I'm now going to fit some pill grips in this black and red marble
effect so we don't need them. Dreamy. Boom, they're clamped on all nicely. Now the bike comes
standard with the Ergon downhill saddle but I've got the pro tie version here which has got titanium
rails and is super G so I'm going to get that one on instead. Let's do that. Actually, let's just
magic it on, shall we? Wow, that is so dreamy, look at that. We now need to just cut this seat
post down slightly because I don't want to have it super high. Sand that bit. Now the finale,
some pedals. There we go, the bike is complete. After building this absolute beauty we're now
here at Twisted Oaks bike park to give it its first test but first look how beautiful it is.
Here we go then, first ride on this beast. We're going to use the black line here,
the full monte. This is a big jump line where you can get a lot of air time and give this thing
just a sort of air time test before the next video where we head to Wales to do some real
downhill stuff. Let's get into it. Here we go then. Let's get it. Oh, nice. Oh, it's well sick.
Oh, it's so quick today.
Oh my God, it feels amazing to be back on a downhill bike.
That's incredible. I know this is an overkill bike for this line really
because I have ridden it on the slopestyle bike but it feels epic. Let me get more warmed up and
I want to just start doing big whips and things. Oh man, I'm well excited. Dreamy.
Wow. This is the best. That was proper sideways, weren't it?
I was in the hill climbing gear though so I pedaled after and almost died.
That's unreal. All right, we've come to do some ghetto free ride mechanics now. Whips and rides
so good but when you flip a downhill bike you've got to be worried of if the tyre is going to hit
the seat or not because if it does it stops you dead and you do a huge ejecto seat because over
the handlebars which sucks. I forgot my toolkit but what I want to do is take this shock off just
to make sure that the seat's not going to touch. I've got this random setup here to get that off.
Don't worry, it's professional. It actually worked really well to be honest, didn't it?
So we get that out. You don't put that on the mud. You hold that in one hand nicely. Then we can pull
the shock up and we can slam the bike. Well yeah, physically couldn't go lower than that because
this thing's here and then that bit would be a tester and it hasn't hit that yet. I'm just going
to level the seat a bit more flat so it doesn't feel lent backy and then it's perfect. So we'll
put that back in. Cool, that doesn't fit or work in the slightest then, does it? Actually yeah,
if I do it super ghetto. What's the point? If only my sponsors could see me now. Oh.
Why don't you? Yeah, well whatever, that'll do. Right, you don't need to film anymore.
We got the seat checked out that it's safe, so I'm not going to get pinged over the handlebars.
So let's just get a backflip on that last one, see how that feels and then we can slowly start
adding manoeuvres in different zones. I'm literally loving my day out. This bike's incredible.
Huge. Didn't even need the safety pedal. Oh, so fun. I love how it feels. You can go like big and
then you've got the extra landing with the suspension. You can go long and it's fine.
Let's try slow-mo. Just a flip can. I haven't done one of them for ages,
just a one foot can. So I'll can this way, so from down here will be perfect.
That was a well rad flip can on that beauty. Now I want to do a three on it, but if you do
360s on bikes, the smaller they are, the easier it is. So as you start to get bigger,
the feelings of the 360 become a bit different. So we're going to go on the big one there,
the mulch, just to give it a little practice. So if I do land on my back,
it's not as stiff as dirt. Let's give it a go.
I still feel I could spin a touch harder to be a bit more nosedive. Let's try that.
Yeah, I know so far this hasn't been really a downhill video because we've just been riding
jumps, but I had to get out on it. This thing is actually the most incredible looking machine ever.
It's amazing. So stoked on it. We got a final little line to do here on the big jumps again.
I want to get a flip on that hip, suey that one into the last one, and then a 360 on the final.
Let's see what that's like. Scary. That's such a steep lip to three on the Daha.
I think it worked out though. I mean, I didn't die, did I? I felt like a little bit kicked on
that lip with the lack of speed. So for the finale, I'm going to get a slow-mo on there
and I'll just race at this jump and then... There we go. Blasted out a cool finale line there on the
first ever ride on my Canyon Sender. This is incredible. Size medium, which is a bit smaller
for someone of my size, but I like that so I can throw it around a bit easier when doing tricks.
Obviously, it's not too small. So on the downhill, it's still going to perform.
So next week, we're going to Wales, to Bike Park Wales, and we'll be able to shred some proper
downhill sections on this beauty. So look out for that video coming in a little bit,
like two videos down the line. But wow, that's so cool. The RockShox box is working great. We've
got the RockShox spring on the back, which is at a 400 weight. It actually came with two other
springs. So I might explore the different weights. I got a 450 and a 350. I think the 350 will be
too soft for my weight, but 450 on bigger jumps might be helpful just to keep that speed up so
you're not losing all of it in the compression through the jumps there. The SRAM XOs in carbon
feel beautiful. They've got these nice little gripper bits on there to give you a bit more
grip while bombing down the hill. Of course, the peel grips on there working like a treat.
Look at this. Come here. Come. Full day of lapping. Not a mark on there. I know there
shouldn't be because it's just already been only a few hours, but with the cheapest and best lock
on grip in the market, why haven't you got a pair on your bike already? Link in bio. No, link in
description or up here. And like you saw earlier, I fitted the Goodyear tyres. These are actually
the Newton Trail tyres, so they're the less strong tyre. But because of that, the weight is
less. And that's exactly what I want for whipping the bike around and things. So we'll see how they
work at Bike Park Wales in the rough stuff. But I've actually been using them on my e-bikes all
year with no problems and with inner tubes that isn't with the goo in the middle. So
they're a very strong tyre, so they should be fine. But other than that, I've just had the best
day ever. Thank you very much, Canyon. See you in the next one.
