🥖 Ingredients

For the dough:

265 ml / 9 oz / 1 cup + 1 tbsp warm milk

50 g / 4 tbsp sugar

6 g / 2 tsp dry yeast

1 egg

500 g / 17.6 oz / 4 cups all-purpose flour (about 9% protein)

6 g / 1 tsp salt

A little neutral cooking oil, to soften the dough and for handling

For the filling:

Softened butter, for spreading over the rolled-out dough

2 tbsp sugar

70 g raisins (briefly soaked in water, then dried with a towel)

65 g chopped walnuts

Zest of 1 orange

For the egg wash:

1 egg yolk

2 tbsp milk

Baking:
Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C / 338°F for about 35 minutes, until the top is golden and the bread is baked through.

🔔 Serving & tips

Let the bread cool slightly before slicing so the crumb can set.

You can dust the top with powdered sugar if you like, or serve it plain.

This bread is perfect with tea, coffee or hot chocolate on cold days.
