I got really lucky.
And, you know, I just met my partner.
I met my person.
And, you know, in life, that's so rare.
And I just I'm very appreciative.
Mikaela and I met in Manchester, England.
Mikaela was there working as a model
and she was at a holiday party
and I was friends with the guy who was
throwing the holiday party.
And I was actually DJing the holiday party.
And I noticed Mikaela from across
the room and we made eye contact
and kind of just, you know, had an eye
contact going on for the night.
And before she left, I was like, I just
have to get your information.
And that was the beginning of our romance.
It was it was love at first sight.
We've been together ever since.
Yeah. Yeah.
Literally from that first time that we
met in a cute holiday
party in Manchester, England.
What a romantic comedy story.
When conflict arises,
how do we problem solve?
Well, Mick has a very
high level of emotional intelligence
and being with her
has really helped me,
you know, increase my emotional
intelligence and how we work through
any issues that may arise.
But when it comes to something that we
may not agree on, I think the thing
that I've come to notice and learn is
that she's usually right.
So it's just best for me to, you know,
happy wife, happy life.
Yes, we handle conflict
by listening to each other.
I remain calm.
I help walk him through what he's
doing and what he's actually trying
to articulate.
And, you know, it just takes patience
and understanding one another.
I rented out an art gallery in Miami,
the Perez Museum of Art,
and I told her that we were going to
an event there.
We went and she was looking around
like, where is everybody?
Because the art gallery is completely
empty. And I'm like, oh, the event's on
the rooftop.
So when we go to the rooftop,
the elevator opens up, family's
there.
It's overlooking the water,
you know, and then I got down on one
knee and neither one of us remembers
anything that I said.
So, yeah, it was a really special
moment.
My reaction, I was just in complete
shock. At first, I didn't see that my
friends and family were there.
They were behind a curtain.
And once he got down on one knee,
the curtain rose up and I just saw
everybody standing there
waiting for me to answer.
And then as soon as I said yes,
they came running out and met
us on the carpet.
And it was just such a beautiful
proposal. It was absolutely perfect.
He put a lot of thought and detail
into it.
And it was everything I could have
ever wanted.
We have had the best trip
of our life.
Not only were we able to,
you know, celebrate the biggest day
of our life, but we were able to
bring our entire family.
We had all of our friends.
We had one hundred and thirty people
from all over the world
come to Dubai.
We had a beautiful curated
dinner in the desert.
We got to experience a yacht that
took us all the way around the
marina.
We got to walk through Global
Village and experience
all this culture and good food.
It's kind of one of those places
that has it all.
So we're really happy with our
decision to get married here.
Hospitality is world class.
We've been staying at the Atlantis
the Royal, and it's just
been absolutely stunning
and fantastic.
The food's great.
The vibes are great.
And yeah, to be able to celebrate
this with my family and the love
of my life, it's been great.
Give me your strength and show
me your weakness.
We're in this together now.
Give me your love.
And ten years from now, when
I look back at this moment
and I think about
who I can be and what this
relationship and what love has taught
me is I really just
want to be the best husband
that I can be and the best
version of a man that
I can be. I saw somewhere on TikTok
it was something that said, you'll
never in your life
have everybody
that you know, that you love,
that means something to you.
There's only two times when that
will happen and you're only around
for one of them.
And so for me,
when I look at 10 years from now,
20 years from now, like
I just want to enjoy
and embrace every
single moment with her.
I think when you lose somebody, you
realize how precious
time is and how
precious life is and
how all of these moments are
fleeting. Right.
And so to be able to really
like be here and be in
the moment, it's really
a blessing.
You know, Essence
has always been a part of my life
growing up.
Essence has been sitting,
you know, on the nightstand and on
the coffee table.
It's been a magazine that has
been a part of the culture and
a part of my personal journey.
You know, I've been to so many
Essence festivals.
I can't even count them.
And so for me to be able
to have this experience with my
family at Essence, it really
meant a lot.
Yeah, we both really wanted
Essence. I mean, like he
said, it's a big part of our lives.
I've been to a lot of Essence
events as well, and
it was just super important to
have a magazine that supports the
culture be a part of this.
