Japan Envoy in China to Ease Diplomatic Crisis

Tokyo has sent a special envoy to Beijing after tensions flared over Japanese comments on Taiwan. China reacted strongly, suspending tours and stirring anti-Japan sentiment.

The envoy will urge Beijing to halt actions harming bilateral ties. Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te also called on China to exercise restraint.
